## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### 📤 Output Example

Each business listing is stored in the Apify dataset with the following fields:

```json
{
  "entity_detail_id": 164050,
  "uei": "LLLEZW4D4SB8",
  "cage_code": "8DKF8",
  "legal_business_name": "JAMES JONES SMALL BUSINESS CO LLC",
  "dba_name": "JJ SMALL BUSINESS",
  "contact_person": "JAMES JONES",
  "email": "james@example.com",
  "phone": "7654321000",
  "website": "https://www.acmesolutions.com",
  "address_1": "123 Example Dr.",
  "address_2": "Suite 400",
  "city": "NEW YORK",
  "state": "New York",
  "zipcode": "10001",
  "county": "New York County",
  "county_code": "110",
  "congressional_district": "06",
  "concat_state_congressional_district": "New york-06",
  "msa": "13821",
  "legal_structure": "2L",
  "year_established": "2007",
  "naics_primary": "237311",
  "naics_all_codes": ["237311", "237310"],
  "naics_small_codes": ["237310"],
  "business_type_codes": "23~27~2X~HQ~LJ~OY",
  "capabilities_narrative": "Site preparation and heavy civil contracting for federal agencies.",
  "current_principals": "James Jones - Owner",
  "last_update_date": 1747785400,
  "active_8a_boolean": true,
  "active_hz_boolean": false,
  "active_wosb_boolean": false,
  "active_edwosb_boolean": false,
  "active_vosb_boolean": false,
  "active_sdvosb_boolean": false,
  "certs": [
    { "name": "8(a)", "active": true, "entranceDate": "2025-09-09", "exitDate": "2034-09-09", "status": "Active" }
  ],
  "meili_self_certifications": [
    "Minority-Owned Business",
    "Self-Certified Small Disadvantaged Business",
    "For Profit Organization",
    "DOT Certified DBE",
    "Limited Liability Company",
    "Black American Owned"
  ]
}
```

`certs` is what SBA has **granted and verified** (with entrance and exit dates);
`meili_self_certifications` is what the business **claims about itself**. They are different
things — do not read the second as a certification.

SBA publishes no employee count and no revenue figure for these records, so the dataset carries
neither, and there is no size or revenue filter to apply.

You can download results as JSON, CSV, or use the Apify API to access them programmatically.

# Actor input Schema

## `sp_intended_usage` (type: `string`):

What will this data feed? E.g. lead lists, KYB checks, price tracking.

## `sp_improvement_suggestions` (type: `string`):

Provide any feedback or suggestions for improvements.

## `sp_contact` (type: `string`):

We'll personally help with your use case. No spam.

## `resumeCursor` (type: `string`):

Leave empty for a fresh run. To CONTINUE a previous run without paying again for records you already received, paste the `resumeCursor` value from that run's Output (the run's OUTPUT key), with the same filters. It has no effect when you look up specific records.

## `states` (type: `array`):

Select one or more U.S. states to scrape. Defaults to all states if empty.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of businesses to scrape.

## `naicsCodes` (type: `array`):

Filter by one or more NAICS industry codes (e.g. '541511' for custom programming). Empty = all industries. Use this to narrow output to a target sector before paying per record.

## `naicsPrimaryOnly` (type: `boolean`):

When true, only return businesses whose primary NAICS matches one of the codes above. When false (default), match against any NAICS the business reports.

## `sbaCertifications` (type: `array`):

Filter to businesses holding an active SBA certification. Any of the selected certifications matches (OR).
