## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does App Review Insights do?

**App Review Insights** reads the latest **App Store** and **Google Play** reviews of any app and turns them into a clear, AI-written report:

- 🐞 **Bugs**: what's broken, how many users mention it, and **which app versions** are affected
- 😤 **Complaints**: pricing, ads, UX, performance, support
- 💡 **Feature requests**: what users are asking for, ranked by demand
- ❤️ **Praise**: what users love (great for marketing copy and ASO)
- 📊 **Numbers**: rating distribution, average rating per **app version**, and each theme's share of reviews
- 💬 **Real quotes** for every theme, taken from actual reviews (never AI-invented)

Add your **competitors' apps** too and get a side-by-side comparison of their top complaints and feature requests.

### Who is it for?

- **Product managers and mobile developers**: find the bugs that hurt ratings after a release and prioritize the roadmap with real user demand
- **Founders and indie developers**: understand why ratings drop, and what users want next
- **ASO and marketing teams**: find the words users use to praise or criticize an app
- **Agencies and investors**: quick due diligence on any app and its competitors

### How to use it

1. Paste one or more apps: App Store links/IDs or Google Play links/package names. Mixing stores is fine.
2. Set **Max reviews per app** (the most recent reviews are analyzed).
3. Optionally set **country** and **language**.
4. Click **Start** and open the report in the **Output** tab, or download JSON/CSV/Excel.

💡 **Tip:** to compare with competitors, just add their apps to the list. The **SUMMARY** record shows top complaints, bugs, feature requests and praise for all apps side by side.

### Input example

```json
{
    "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion-notes-tasks-ai/id1232780281", "notion.id", "md.obsidian"],
    "maxReviewsPerApp": 300,
    "country": "us",
    "language": "en"
}
```

    ]
}
```
### How much does it cost?
You pay **per review analyzed**. See the exact price in the **Pricing** tab. 200 reviews of one app is usually enough for a solid picture.
- Apps that fail (e.g. a wrong ID or no reviews) are **not charged**.
- The Actor respects your **maximum cost per run** and analyzes only as many reviews as your limit allows.
### FAQ
**How many reviews can I get?**
Google Play: up to 2,000 recent reviews per app and language. App Store: Apple's public feed provides up to **500 most recent reviews per country**. Run it for several countries to get more.
**Do reviews in other languages work?**
Yes. The AI understands reviews in any language and always writes the report in English. For Google Play, set the **language** of the reviews you want (e.g. `de`).
**Are the quotes real?**
Yes. Themes are found by AI, but every example quote is copied from an actual review that the AI linked to that theme. Counts and percentages are calculated from the reviews, not estimated by the AI.
**Do you collect reviewer names?**
No. Reviewer names and avatars are never stored.
**Can I track changes over time?**
Yes. Schedule the Actor (e.g. weekly) and compare reports, especially after each release. The **versions** section shows how ratings change between app versions.
**Do I need an OpenAI key?**
No, everything is included in the price.
### Support
Missing something (another store, a different report format, Slack alerts after a bad release)? Open an issue in the **Issues** tab.
