## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Grants.gov Scraper: Federal Grant Opportunities API (No Key)

Get **US federal grant opportunities from Grants.gov** as clean JSON, CSV or Excel. Search by keyword, agency, funding category, eligible applicant type, Assistance Listing (ALN/CFDA) number, posted date, closing date and award size. Each grant includes the **award ceiling and floor, total program funding, eligibility, agency contact, and links to the official documents**. Turn on **monitor mode**, schedule it daily, and get only the grants that are new since your last run.

Data comes from the **official public Grants.gov API** (the same API that powers grants.gov search). No API key, no login, no scraping of protected pages.

### For AI agents (MCP / API) quick reference

- **Use when:** you need current or forecasted US federal grant / funding opportunities (NIH, NSF, DOE, USDA, EPA, HHS and every other agency), filtered by topic, agency, eligibility, ALN or dates.
- **Don't use for:** federal contracts and RFPs (use [SAM.gov Contract Opportunities Scraper](https://apify.com/kempt_horizon_yzk/samgov-opportunities)), state or foundation grants.
- **Minimal input:** `{"keywords": ["climate"], "maxItems": 20}`. All fields are optional.
- **Output:** one dataset item per grant: `opportunityId`, `opportunityNumber`, `title`, `agency`, `status`, `postedDate`, `closeDate`, `awardCeiling`, `awardFloor`, `estimatedTotalFunding`, `eligibleApplicants`, `fundingCategories`, `fundingInstruments`, `aln`, `description`, `agencyContact`, `documents`, `url`.
- **Price:** $0.001 per run + **$0.004 per detailed grant** ($0.002 without details). 20 grants cost about $0.08. Pay per event only, limited permissions, so agentic payments (x402, Skyfire, Apify AGI token) work.
- **MCP:** add `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=kempt_horizon_yzk/grants-gov-opportunities` to your MCP client.

### What can this Grants.gov scraper do?

- ✅ **Search all federal grants**: posted, forecasted, closed and archived opportunities
- ✅ **Filters**: keywords (any match), agency codes, funding categories, eligible applicant types, funding instruments, ALN/CFDA, posted in the last N days, closing within N days, minimum award ceiling
- ✅ **Full details**: synopsis text, award ceiling and floor, expected number of awards, cost sharing, eligibility notes, agency contact, ALN program titles, attachment and document links
- ✅ **Monitor mode**: remembers what it already returned and gives you only new grants, perfect for a daily email, Slack or Zapier alert
- ✅ **Pay only for results**: grants removed by your filters are never charged
- ✅ Retries with exponential backoff and polite concurrency

### Who uses it?

Grant writers and consultants, nonprofit development teams, university research offices, small businesses looking for SBIR/STTR and other funding, municipal and tribal governments, and newsletters that cover federal funding.

### How much does it cost?

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Actor start | $0.001 |
| Grant opportunity (search fields) | $0.002 |
| Detailed grant opportunity | **$0.004** |

A daily monitor that finds 15 new grants costs about $0.06 a day. 1,000 detailed grants cost $4. Set a **maximum cost per run** and the Actor stops cleanly when it gets there.

### How to use it

1. Click **Try for free**. The example input (keyword "climate", posted and forecasted, 20 results) returns results right away.
2. Change the keywords, add agencies or eligibility codes, or set "Closing within N days".
3. Click **Start** and download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them with the API.
4. For alerts, tick **Only new since last run**, give the monitor a name, and add a daily **Schedule**. Connect Slack, email, Zapier, Make or a webhook through Apify integrations.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Grants.gov account or API key?** No. The Actor uses the public Grants.gov search and opportunity APIs, which need no key.

**How fresh is the data?** Live. Every run queries Grants.gov directly.

**Can I get forecasts before a grant opens?** Yes. Include the `forecasted` status.

**Is this legal?** Grants.gov data is public US government information published for reuse. Agency contacts are official work contacts.

**Related Actors:** [SAM.gov Contract Opportunities Scraper](https://apify.com/kempt_horizon_yzk/samgov-opportunities) for federal contracts and RFPs.
