## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does TikTok Live Search Scraper do?

Search public TikTok LIVE rooms by keyword and get one structured row per currently broadcasting room: streamer handle, nickname, room title, viewer count, category, follower count, cover image, and live URL. Runs on Apify without a TikTok login. Usable from the Console, API, schedules, and Apify MCP.

### Why use this Actor?

- Discover active LIVE creators by topic (gaming, makeup, shop, sports) without knowing handles in advance
- Monitor niches for talent scouting, live-shopping research, or competitive awareness
- Feed MCP / agent workflows a predictable room schema with honest empty and blocked outcomes
- Pay only for saved live rooms (`$0.005` each) plus a tiny start fee — platform usage is passed through to the run user

### Best fit and routing

| Starting point | Use |
|---|---|
| Keywords / topics | **This Actor** |
| Known usernames | [TikTok Live Status Monitor](https://apify.com/khadinakbar/tiktok-live-status-monitor) |
| Chat / room URL / category discover | [TikTok Live Scraper](https://apify.com/khadinakbar/tiktok-live-scraper) |
| Videos or profiles | other `tiktok-*` Actors in the portfolio |

### How to use

1. Open the Actor in Apify Console
2. Enter one or more keywords (prefill: `gaming`)
3. Optionally set `maxResultsPerKeyword`, `region`, or `minViewers`
4. Run and download the dataset (JSON, CSV, Excel) or read it via API / MCP

### Input

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `keywords` | Required topic list, e.g. `["gaming","makeup"]` |
| `maxResultsPerKeyword` | Cap per keyword (default 10, max 50) |
| `region` | Residential proxy country pin (default `US`) |
| `minViewers` | Optional viewer floor |
| `dedupeAcrossKeywords` | Save each room once across keywords (default true) |
| `includeStreamUrls` | Optional ephemeral FLV/RTMP URLs (default false) |

Example:

```json
{
  "keywords": ["gaming"],
  "maxResultsPerKeyword": 5,
  "region": "US",
  "includeStreamUrls": false
}
```

### Output

One dataset row per distinct live room. Example fields:

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `keyword` | `gaming` |
| `rank` | `1` |
| `username` | `demouser` |
| `roomTitle` | `Have a nice day!` |
| `viewerCount` | `7917` |
| `category` | `Gaming` |
| `liveUrl` | `https://www.tiktok.com/@demouser/live` |
| `scrapedAt` | `2026-09-29T12:00:00.000Z` |

### Pricing

Pay per event with platform usage paid by the run user:

- Actor start: `$0.00005`
- Live room found: `$0.005`

A 5-room gaming sample costs about `$0.02505` in PPE events (plus Residential usage). Empty truthful searches are not charged for rooms.

### Limits and responsible use

- Public currently-live rooms only — not chat, recordings, offline accounts, or historical replays
- TikTok may temporarily challenge Residential traffic; the Actor reports `UPSTREAM_FAILED` instead of inventing rows
- Use for legitimate research and monitoring. Respect TikTok Terms of Service and applicable privacy law
- Stream URLs (when enabled) expire quickly and must not be treated as durable media archives

### Support

Open an Issue on the Actor page for bugs or feature requests. Custom workflows available on request.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

TikTok LIVE topics to search, such as gaming, makeup, football, or shop. Each keyword is searched separately. This is not a username list — for known handles use tiktok-live-status-monitor.

## `maxResultsPerKeyword` (type: `integer`):

Maximum distinct live rooms to save for each keyword. Example: 5. Default 10, minimum 1, maximum 50. TikTok may return fewer rooms than this cap.

## `region` (type: `string`):

ISO country code used to pin Apify Residential proxies for LIVE search (example: US, GB, JP). Default US. Invalid values fall back to US.

## `minViewers` (type: `integer`):

Skip rooms with fewer viewers than this threshold. Example: 100. Default 0 keeps every returned room.

## `dedupeAcrossKeywords` (type: `boolean`):

When true (default), a room that appears under multiple keywords is saved once (first keyword wins). Turn off to keep one row per keyword match.

## `includeStreamUrls` (type: `boolean`):

When true, rows may include ephemeral FLV/RTMP playback URLs. Default false because signed URLs expire quickly. This Actor is not a recorder and does not save MP4 files.
