## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does French Case Law Search do?

It searches **French court decisions** in the official **Judilibre** open data base of the Cour de cassation and returns clean, structured JSON: full text, summary, ECLI, solution, chamber, legal provisions cited and related decisions.

Courts covered: **Cour de cassation**, **cours d'appel**, **tribunaux judiciaires** and **tribunaux de commerce** (as published by Judilibre).

- **No PISTE account, no API key, no OAuth**: just run it
- Full-text search in French with filters (court, chamber, Bulletin, dates)
- Each decision split into sections: facts, pleas, reasoning, operative part
- Ready for **legal AI agents and RAG pipelines** through the Apify MCP server

### Who is it for?

- **Legal tech and AI builders**: feed French case law into your RAG or agent
- **Lawyers, in-house counsel, law students**: export every decision on a question in one click
- **Researchers and journalists**: track how courts rule on a topic over time
- **HR and compliance teams**: monitor new labour-law decisions (chambre sociale)

### How to use it

1. Type your search terms in French, for example `clause de non-concurrence contrepartie financière`.
2. Pick the courts, and optionally chambers, Bulletin-only and a date range.
3. Run, then export to JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it via API or MCP.

You can also fetch known decisions directly with **decisionIds**.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "query": "licenciement faute grave abandon de poste",
  "jurisdictions": ["cc"],
  "chambers": ["soc"],
  "publishedOnly": true,
  "dateStart": "2020-01-01",
  "sortBy": "date",
  "maxResults": 20,
  "includeFullText": true
}
```

#### Output fields

`id`, `url`, `jurisdiction`, `chamber`, `number`, `ecli`, `decisionDate`, `solution`, `publication`, `summary`, `themes`, `highlights`, and with full text: `text`, `sections` (introduction, facts, pleas, reasoning, operativePart), `legalProvisionsCited`, `relatedDecisions`, `contestedDecision`.

### Pricing

Pay per event:

- **$0.003 per decision** returned
- **+$0.007 per decision with full text and sections** (optional add-on)

A fully structured decision costs $0.01. Set a maximum charge per run and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Data source and licence

Decisions come from the **Judilibre API** of the Cour de cassation, published as open data under the Licence Ouverte 2.0 (Etalab) through the PISTE government portal. Decisions are pseudonymised by the Cour de cassation before publication. This Actor does not modify their content, and every record carries its source, court, formation, seat, decision date and last update date, as the reuse terms require.

**Reuse terms you must respect** (Cour de cassation open data terms): do not alter the decisions or distort their meaning, always credit the Cour de cassation open data base with the last update date, and never use the data to evaluate, compare or predict the professional practices of identified judges or court clerks (forbidden by article L. 111-13 of the French Code de l'organisation judiciaire).

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

  }
}
```
### En français
Recherchez la **jurisprudence française** (Cour de cassation, cours d'appel, tribunaux) dans la base officielle **Judilibre**, sans compte PISTE : texte intégral, sommaire, ECLI, solution, visas, rapprochements, et découpage en motifs et dispositif. Idéal pour les avocats, juristes, legaltechs et agents IA juridiques.
