## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Reviews Scraper — Fast, Cheap, Multi-Country

Fetch public App Store app details and recent customer reviews using Apple's lookup, search, and customer review RSS JSON feeds. No account or API key is needed.

### What it does

Give the Actor numeric App Store IDs or `apps.apple.com` URLs, choose storefront countries, or provide search terms to find apps by name. It writes one free app row per app and country and review rows for matching reviews. Review rows omit reviewer names and profile links. Invalid inputs and app/feed failures are reported as free error rows.

### Use cases

- ASO and rating research across storefronts
- Competitor research
- Product feedback monitoring
- AI sentiment analysis using review text

### Input examples

```json
{
  "apps": ["389801252", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/youtube/id544007664"],
  "searchTerms": ["budget planner"],
  "searchLimit": 5,
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 500,
  "sinceDate": "2026-09-01",
  "minRating": 1,
  "maxRating": 5
}
```

`apps` defaults to Instagram (`389801252`) and YouTube (`544007664`). Search results are found in the first requested country, then those app IDs are looked up in each requested country. `sinceDate` filters reviews to dates after midnight UTC at the start of the specified date.

### Output examples

Trimmed app row:

```json
{"type":"app","appId":"389801252","name":"Instagram","developer":"Instagram, Inc.","country":"us","averageRating":4.69067,"ratingCount":29551373,"currentVersion":"449.0.0","price":0,"genre":"Photo & Video","url":"https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252?uo=4"}
```

Trimmed review row:

```json
{"type":"review","appId":"389801252","appName":"Instagram","country":"us","reviewId":"14620555057","rating":1,"title":"photo comments","text":"i didnt get the update with the photo for comments","version":"448.0.0","date":"2026-10-02T22:52:23.000Z","voteSum":0,"voteCount":0}
```

Trimmed error row:

```json
{"type":"error","input":"bad-value","reason":"Expected a numeric App Store ID or apps.apple.com URL containing /id<digits>"}
```

App rows are free. Reviews are deduplicated by `reviewId`. Error rows are free.

### Pricing

$1.00 per 1,000 review rows, configured as the `review-result` pay-per-event in Apify Console. App and error rows are free. Local runs also work when pay-per-event pricing is not configured.

### Limits

Apple's public customer review feed exposes up to 10 pages of about 50 latest reviews each: roughly 500 latest reviews per app per country. This is a feed limit; older reviews may not be available even if the app has many more ratings. Apple can return fewer entries or an empty feed, and access can be rate-limited. The Actor retries HTTP 429 and 5xx responses, but cannot guarantee feed availability.

### FAQ

**Can I search by app name?** Yes. Set `searchTerms`; up to `searchLimit` results per term are found in the first selected country.

**Can I filter by rating or date?** Yes. Set `minRating`, `maxRating`, and/or `sinceDate`.

**Are reviewer names or profiles included?** No. They are intentionally omitted.

**Why are there no review rows for an app?** The public feed may be empty, rate-limited, or unavailable for that app and storefront. When page 1 is empty although lookup reports ratings, an error row warns that the feed may be rate-limited.

**Does it fetch all historic reviews?** No. Apple exposes only a limited set of the most recent reviews through this feed, up to approximately 500 per app and country.
