## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Career Site Jobs Search — Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby & Workday

Search **10,214 verified company career boards** at once: Greenhouse (4,867), Ashby (2,837), Lever (1,942) and Workday (568), together holding **over 300,000 open jobs** when the directory was verified (October 2026). Jobs come straight from each company's own careers page, not from reposting job boards. The actor fetches each selected board live at run time, normalizes jobs into one row shape, and charges only for matching job rows.

### Use cases

- Find roles across company career sites without searching each site by hand.
- Build recurring job alerts or research datasets from fresh ATS postings.
- Create job feeds for AI agents / MCP clients, recruiting workflows, and career tools.

### Input

```json
{
  "keywords": ["data engineer", "analytics engineer"],
  "excludeKeywords": ["intern"],
  "locations": ["New York", "Remote"],
  "remoteOnly": false,
  "postedWithinDays": 30,
  "atsPlatforms": ["greenhouse", "ashby"],
  "companies": ["openai", "figma"],
  "maxResults": 20,
  "includeDescription": false
}
```

The `keywords` field is prefilled with `software engineer`; a job matches if any keyword appears as a whole word or phrase in the title. Excluded keywords use the same title matching rule. Location values are case-insensitive substrings and use OR matching. Leave `atsPlatforms`, `companies`, `excludeKeywords`, and `locations` empty to omit those filters. Company values can be a directory slug or company name; `Bluevine` also matches sub-boards such as `Bluevine - US` and `Bluevine - India`. Workday boards are listed by their tenant slug (for example `3m`). If no company directory is present, the actor reports a clear missing-directory error; it does not guess boards.

### Output

Each charged job row contains normalized ATS fields plus `companyName` and `matchedKeyword`. For example, this trimmed row came from the fixture-backed live smoke run:

```json
{"type":"job","company":"OpenAI","ats":"ashby","jobId":"fc5bbc77-a30c-4e7a-9acc-8a2e748545b4","title":"Data Engineer","department":"Applied AI","team":"Applied AI Engineering","location":"San Francisco","isRemote":true,"postedAt":"2023-09-26T22:34:48.884Z","jobUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/openai/fc5bbc77-a30c-4e7a-9acc-8a2e748545b4","companyName":"OpenAI","matchedKeyword":"data engineer"}
```

One free summary row reports how many boards were scanned or failed, how many jobs matched, and whether the run completed or stopped at `maxResults` or the pay-per-event charge limit:

```json
{"type":"summary","boardsScanned":15,"boardsFailed":0,"jobsMatched":6,"stoppedBy":"completed"}
```

### Pricing

**$2.50 per 1,000 matching job rows** (`job-result` pay-per-event). Summary rows are free.

### Limits

The actor reads the public ATS board APIs directly. It visits higher job-count boards first, with at most 24 concurrent requests globally and 8 per API host. Requests time out after 20 seconds and retry HTTP 429 and 5xx responses. Workday boards may require multiple API pages. `maxResults` limits charged job rows; unmatched jobs and summary rows are not charged. The directory is a snapshot of verified boards, so new or changed boards appear when the directory is refreshed. Job counts and postings can change between directory verification and a run.

### FAQ

**Does this search job titles or full descriptions?** Keywords currently match job titles. Set `includeDescription` to retain available description text in output, but description text is not searched.

**Are results live?** Yes. Each run fetches the selected boards live from their public ATS endpoints.

**Why did a board fail?** Its endpoint may be unavailable, changed, blocked, or rate-limited. Failed boards count in the free summary; other boards continue.

**Can I search one company?** Add its directory slug or company name to `companies`.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Match jobs when any keyword appears in the title as a whole word or phrase, case-insensitively.

## `excludeKeywords` (type: `array`):

Exclude jobs whose title contains any whole-word keyword in this list.

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Optional location substrings; a job matches when any value appears in its location.

## `remoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Return only jobs marked remote by the ATS or with Remote in the location.

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Optional maximum age in days. Jobs without a parseable posted date are excluded when this filter is set.

## `atsPlatforms` (type: `array`):

Optional platform filter. Leave empty to search every supported platform in the directory.

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Optional company slugs or names; only matching directory boards will be searched.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop and return a summary after this many matching jobs.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Include public job description text where the ATS response provides it.
