## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## H-1B Sponsor Profiles – Company-Level LCA Stats (Official DOL)

Turn the U.S. Department of Labor's **LCA disclosure files** (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3) into **one clean profile per sponsoring company** – or into PII-free filing rows – straight from dol.gov. No API key, no proxies, no third-party H-1B websites.

### Why this Actor

| Common complaint with existing H-1B scrapers | What this Actor does |
|---|---|
| You get 1M raw rows, one per filing – you still have to pivot in Excel to learn anything about a company | **Employers mode**: one row per sponsor with filings, positions, approval rate, wage percentiles, top roles & worksites |
| One quarterly workbook per run; quarterly files overlap, so combining them double-counts | **Multi-period** (`FY2025`, `FY2026_Q3`, `latest_full_year`…) with **dedupe by case number** |
| Same company appears as "Google LLC", "GOOGLE LLC", "Google Inc." | **Grouped by FEIN**, all name variants listed |
| Wages in mixed units (hourly/weekly/monthly) and typos like $200,000/hour | **Annualized wages** with unit-error correction |
| Outputs attorney names, emails and phone numbers | **No personal contact data** – PoC, attorney, preparer and phone fields are stripped |
| "Trends/analytics" sold as paid add-ons | Included: wage premium vs prevailing wage, wage-level mix, filings by month |

### Enrichment

- **Approval rate**, new vs continuing vs transfer petitions, full-time share
- **Median / P25 / P75 offered wage** and **median premium over prevailing wage**
- **Wage level mix (I–IV)**
- **End clients** (secondary entity) and **% placed at client sites** → `likelyStaffingOrConsulting` flag
- **H-1B dependent** and **willful violator** flags
- **NAICS industry title** for every employer
- Filings by month, first/last filing dates, source file links

### Example inputs

- Profiles for a few companies: `{"employerNames":["Stripe","Google"]}`
- Top 500 sponsors in Texas IT services: `{"employerStates":["TX"],"naicsCodes":["5415"]}`
- Data-scientist filings in Seattle (rows): `{"mode":"filings","worksiteCities":["Seattle"],"jobTitleKeywords":["data scientist"]}`
- Full fiscal year 2025: `{"fiscalPeriods":["FY2025"]}`

### Output (employers mode, abridged)

```json
{"employerName":"Stripe, LLC","otherNames":["Stripe, Inc."],"employerFein":"270465600","totalFilings":264,"approvalRatePct":100,"medianAnnualWage":162200,"medianWagePremiumVsPrevailingPct":3.9,"topWorksiteCities":[{"value":"SEATTLE, WA","count":92}],"likelyStaffingOrConsulting":false}
```

### Data source & notes

- Source: [DOL OFLC Performance Data](https://www.dol.gov/agencies/eta/foreign-labor/performance) – LCA Disclosure Data (public, updated quarterly). DOL sometimes publishes cumulative year-to-date files and sometimes quarter-only files; asking for `FY2025` loads every quarter of that year and dedupes by case number, so you never double-count or miss a quarter. `latest` = the newest file.
- An LCA is filed before an H-1B petition; certified LCAs ≠ approved visas.
- Each run downloads the official workbook (≈80–250 MB) and parses it in-stream; typical run 1–3 minutes.
- Pricing: $3.00 per 1,000 employer profiles (pay per result). Every profile already includes approval rate, wage percentiles vs prevailing wage, top roles, worksites, end clients and the staffing-firm signal, so one row replaces dozens of raw LCA rows.
