## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What is UK Company Website Enricher?

**UK Company Website Enricher** turns a list of UK business websites into **one clean row per domain** with **emails, UK phone numbers, Companies House company number, VAT number, postcodes and social links**. Use it for lead enrichment, KYB / supplier checks and CRM clean-up.

Try it now: click **Start** with the default input (two example company websites) and get results in a few seconds.

- 📧 **Emails** (mailto links and on-page) and **UK phone numbers**
- 🏢 **Companies House company number** (preferring numbers mentioned next to England / Wales / Scotland / UK) and **VAT number**
- 📍 **Postcodes** found on the site (e.g. registered office)
- 🔗 **LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok** links
- ⚡ Fast HTTP crawler (no browser): checks the homepage plus up to a few contact / about / privacy / terms pages, where UK companies usually show their company number
- ⚙️ Runs on the Apify platform: API, scheduling, integrations, monitoring

### What data does the website enricher return?

One row = one input domain (even if the site fails, so you can see what you paid for).

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `domain` | octopus.energy |
| `companyName` | Octopus Energy (from the site's title / og:site_name) |
| `emails` | \["hello@octopus.energy", "business@octopus.energy"] |
| `phones` | \["08081641088"] |
| `companyNumber` | 09263424 |
| `companyNumbersAll` | \["09263424", "10434397"] |
| `vatNumber` | GB… or null |
| `postcodes` | \["W1D 1NN"] |
| `linkedin`, `facebook`, `instagram`, `x`, `youtube`, `tiktok` | profile URLs or null |
| `pagesCrawled` | 3 |
| `error` | null, or why the site could not be loaded |

Download as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read via the Apify API.

### Use cases

- 🎯 **Lead enrichment**: add emails, phones and socials to a list of prospect websites
- ✅ **KYB / supplier onboarding**: find the Companies House number and VAT number a company shows on its own site, then verify it on Companies House
- 🧹 **CRM clean-up**: fill missing contact fields and company numbers for existing accounts
- 🔗 **Combine with tenders**: enrich suppliers that just won public contracts (see related Actors below)

### How to enrich UK company websites

1. Paste websites or bare domains into **Websites** (one per line, or upload a list).
2. Keep **Max pages per site** at 3 (homepage plus 2 contact / about / legal pages) or raise it for harder sites.
3. Click **Start**. Proxy is optional; most sites work without it.
4. Export the results or send them to Google Sheets, your CRM, Zapier, Make, n8n or a webhook.

```json
{
  "startUrls": [{ "url": "https://octopus.energy" }, { "url": "https://www.thetrainline.com" }],
  "maxPagesPerSite": 3
}
```

### How much does it cost?

Pay per result: **$4 per 1,000 websites** ($0.004 per row, plus a tiny $0.00005 Actor start fee). Every input domain yields exactly one row.

| Example | Websites | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Default input | 2 | ~$0.01 |
| Prospect list | 500 | $2 |
| CRM clean-up | 10,000 | $40 |

### FAQ

#### Where does the company number come from?

Only from the company's own public web pages (homepage, contact, about, privacy, terms). It is not looked up on Companies House, so verify important numbers there.

#### Why are some fields empty?

Sites that render content only with JavaScript, or that block automated visits, may return few fields. The row still appears, with `error` set if the site could not be loaded.

#### Does it scrape LinkedIn or personal profiles?

No. It visits only the public pages of the websites you supply and records links to social profiles it finds there.

#### Is it GDPR-compliant?

It collects what companies publish on their own sites. Some emails may be named individuals' work addresses; you are responsible for using personal data lawfully under UK GDPR and PECR.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Homepages or bare domains of UK businesses, one per line (e.g. octopus.energy). You pay per website; each one returns exactly one row.

Homepage plus up to N-1 contact / about / privacy / terms pages, where UK companies usually show their company number and VAT number. 3 is enough for most sites.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

```
# Actor output Schema
