## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Company Data Verifier: VAT, Registry and List Cleanup

Clean a company list: check EU VAT numbers with **VIES**, look up **Norway** (Brønnøysund) and **France** (recherche-entreprises) registries, match **US public companies** via SEC EDGAR, and write a field-level before/after diff. Optional monthly **monitor** mode for recurring checks.

Part of the Company Intelligence Suite: **[Company Finder](https://apify.com/kondasviktor/google-maps-company-finder)** → **[Website Intelligence + Contact Extractor](https://apify.com/kondasviktor/website-intelligence-contact-extractor)** → **Verifier**.

#### Monthly monitor schedule

Save a task with `monitorEnabled: true`, `monitorStateKey: "suppliers"`, and your list. Schedule monthly. Cost ≈ `$0.002 × records` (`monitor-recheck`) plus `$0.003`/`$0.015` when a check or verify fires — example **100 suppliers ≈ $0.20–1.50/month** depending on how many change, floored by the **$0.10** minimum.

### What it does

- Accepts inline `records`, or a `sourceDataset` from Finder/Profiler
- Registry lookup where a free, no-key API exists (NO, FR, US public)
- EU VAT validation via the official VIES SOAP service (throttled; outages are not charged as invalid)
- Field diffs: `filled` / `confirmed` / `corrected` / `conflict`
- CRM column presets (`generic`, `hubspot`, `salesforce`) — CSV round-trip only, no CRM API writes
- Monitor mode: store hashes, re-check on a schedule, optional webhook

### What it does not do (v1)

- No UK Companies House or HMRC (bring your own `registryFile` later, or use imprint)
- No Hungary e-beszámoló scraping
- No officer / director personal data
- Not AML/KYC-grade — KYB-lite master-data cleanup only
- VIES results are not redistributed as a downloadable list

### Pricing (PPE only)

| Event | Price |
| --- | ---: |
| `record-checked` | $0.003 |
| `record-verified` | $0.015 |
| `record-best-effort` | $0.008 |
| `monitor-recheck` | $0.002 |
| Minimum per run | $0.10 |

### Example input

```json
{
  "records": [
    { "name": "Brønnøysundregistrene", "country": "NO", "registrationNumber": "974760673" }
  ],
  "checks": { "registry": true, "vat": false, "imprint": false },
  "maxRecords": 10,
  "crmPreset": "generic"
}
```

### Public examples

Five Store example tasks ship with the Actor (EU VAT sample, Norway, France, HubSpot CSV, monthly monitor). Run `./create-public-tasks.sh` after the first publish.

# Actor input Schema

## `records` (type: `array`):

Inline company rows to verify. Example: \[{"name":"Acme AS","country":"NO","city":"Oslo"}].

## `sourceDataset` (type: `string`):

Dataset ID from a Finder or Profiler run (resource picker). Example: pick the previous run dataset.

## `defaultCountry` (type: `string`):

ISO-2 country when a row has none. Example: NO.

## `checkRegistry` (type: `boolean`):

Look up Norway, France, or US public registries when available. Example: true.

## `checkVat` (type: `boolean`):

Validate EU VAT numbers via the official VIES SOAP service. Example: true.

## `checkImprint` (type: `boolean`):

Fall back to website imprint signals when no registry plugin matches (flagged best-effort). Example: true.

## `matchThreshold` (type: `number`):

Minimum confidence to mark a record verified (0–1). Below this: ambiguous. Example: 0.85.

## `crmPreset` (type: `string`):

Output column naming for re-import. Example: generic.

## `keepOriginalColumns` (type: `boolean`):

Copy all input columns through unchanged. Example: true.

## `maxRecords` (type: `integer`):

Hard cost cap. Prefill stays low for Store QA. Example: 10.

## `monitorEnabled` (type: `boolean`):

Re-check stored hashes on a schedule for recurring verification. Example: false.

## `monitorStateKey` (type: `string`):

Named key for monitor state (e.g. suppliers-eu). Required when monitor is enabled.

## `monitorOutputChangedOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Skip unchanged rows in the dataset when monitoring. Example: true.

## `monitorWebhookUrl` (type: `string`):

Optional URL to POST a run summary (Slack/n8n/Make).
