## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper: iPhone app reviews from any country

**Get the most recent App Store reviews for any iPhone app**, yours or a competitor's, as clean JSON, CSV, or Excel. Give it an app name, App Store link, or ID. You get star rating, title, full text, app version, date, and helpful-vote count for each review.

- **Any country:** pull `us`, `gb`, `de`, `jp`… in one run (up to 500 recent reviews per app per country, Apple's limit)
- **Star filter:** grab only 1–2★ complaints, or only 5★ praise, and pay only for the reviews you keep
- **Many apps per run:** compare competitors side by side
- **Monitoring mode:** schedule it weekly and get *only the reviews posted since your last run*. You never pay twice for the same review.
- **Official data:** uses Apple's public review feeds. No login, no proxies, no breakage from page redesigns.
- **No reviewer names collected**

### How to use

1. Add one or more **apps**: a name (`Duolingo`), an App Store URL, or a numeric ID (`570060128`). **Use the URL or ID when you need an exact match.** Name search only accepts results whose name actually matches.
2. Pick **countries** (default `us`).
3. Optional: set **minimum / maximum star rating** (e.g. max 2 = complaints only).
4. Run, then export from the Dataset tab (JSON, CSV, Excel, or via API).

#### Sample input

```json
{ "apps": ["Duolingo", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/facebook/id284882215"], "countries": ["us", "gb"], "maxRating": 2 }
```

### Monitor reviews automatically (weekly digest)

1. Turn on **"Only new reviews since last run"**.
2. Run it once. The first run returns the latest reviews and sets the starting point.
3. Click **Schedule** in Apify and pick weekly (or daily).
4. Each run now returns only reviews posted since the previous one. Connect the dataset to Slack, Google Sheets, email, or a webhook with Apify integrations, and you have a hands-off review feed.

Tips: combine it with **max rating 2** to get just new complaints. Use **monitor name** to keep separate schedules (e.g. `my-app` and `competitors`). If a run stops at your max reviews or your spending limit, the next run picks up exactly where it left off.

### Pricing

- **$0.00008 per review** ($0.08 per 1,000 reviews)
- **No start fee.** Apps that aren't found cost nothing, and reviews removed by your star filter cost nothing.

A typical run (1 app, 1 country, 500 reviews) costs **$0.04**.

### Want the answer, not just the rows?

[**App Store Review Insights**](https://apify.com/kramer_konversations/app-store-review-insights) reads the same reviews and gives you a finished report: top complaint themes, feature requests, bug and crash reports, and which app version made ratings drop. $0.045 per app.

### Also tracking App Store search ranks?

- [**App Store Keyword Rank Tracker**](https://apify.com/kramer_konversations/app-store-keyword-rank-tracker): where any app ranks for your keywords, by country, with rank changes over time. $0.0009 per check.

### Who it's for

- **iOS developers and product teams:** feed reviews into your own dashboards, LLM prompts, or support tools
- **Competitor research:** see what users love and hate about rival apps, by country
- **ASO and marketing:** mine the exact words users use
- **AI agents:** one call returns structured reviews ready to reason over

### FAQ

**Why at most 500 reviews per country?** That's how many recent reviews Apple's official feed provides. Add more countries to get more reviews.
**Are reviewer names included?** No. This Actor doesn't collect them.
**How does 'only new reviews' remember?** It saves the newest review it delivered in a small storage area in *your own* Apify account (`app-store-reviews-monitor`). Delete that store to start fresh.
**Android?** Not yet. This Actor covers the iOS App Store.
