## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Craigslist Scraper: Listings, Prices, Housing & Jobs

Scrape **listings from Craigslist** in any city and category: for sale, cars and trucks, furniture, apartments and rooms, real estate, jobs, services and gigs. Each listing comes with its **title, price, location, neighborhood, GPS coordinates, images, posting date and link**; housing adds **bedrooms and square feet**, cars the **odometer**, jobs the **compensation, job title and company**.

Craigslist stops a search at 360 results. This actor **splits the search into price ranges automatically**, so you can collect thousands of listings from one search.

Turn on **Full listing details** to also get the **description, every attribute** (condition, make and model, bike size, pets, laundry, parking, employment type...), **street address, postal code, last update date and all images**.

No login, no browser. You pay per listing delivered.

### What you can paste

- **Search URLs with your filters**: `https://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/cta?query=toyota&min_price=5000`, `https://newyork.craigslist.org/search/brk/apa?max_price=3000`, `https://chicago.craigslist.org/search/jjj?query=driver`
- **Cities + keywords + category**: `newyork`, `losangeles`, `london`, `toronto` with `iphone` in For sale, or no keyword for the newest listings
- **Single listing URLs**: `https://www.craigslist.org/view/d/brooklyn-962-bushwick-ave/kV1TmfgyMYxXPWTSqd4qGJ` (always with details)

### What you get

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `postingId`, `url`, `title`, `thumbnail`, `images` | 7985430564 |
| `price`, `priceText`, `currency` | 300, $300, USD |
| `location`, `neighborhood`, `subarea`, `area` | Queens, que, newyork |
| `latitude`, `longitude` | 40.7069, -73.8297 |
| `postedAt`, `category`, `categoryId` | 2026-10-17T23:09:56+00:00, bia |
| `bedrooms`, `areaSqft` (housing), `odometer` (cars) | 1, 650, 208850 |
| `compensation`, `jobTitle`, `company` (jobs) | $72392 per year, Primo Brands |
| `input`, `position` | the search it came from |

With **Full listing details**: `description`, `attributes` (all label / value pairs), `highlights` (e.g. `0BR / 1Ba`), `address`, `postalCode`, `city`, `region`, `updatedAt`, `mapAccuracy`, `bathrooms`, `petsAllowed`, `employmentType`, `salary`, `categoryName`, `subareaName`.

### Use cases

- **Price research and arbitrage**: track asking prices of cars, bikes, electronics or furniture across cities.
- **Rental market analysis**: rents, bedrooms, square feet and coordinates of apartments by neighborhood.
- **Lead generation**: services, gigs and job posts by city and category.
- **Alerts**: run on a schedule with `postedToday=1` and get only the new listings.

### How to use

1. Paste Craigslist search URLs (set your filters on Craigslist first), or pick cities, keywords and a category.
2. Set **Max listings per search** and decide whether you need **Full listing details**.
3. Run and open the **Listings** view, or export to JSON, CSV or Excel.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "startUrls": ["https://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/cta?query=toyota&min_price=5000"],
  "cities": ["newyork", "chicago"],
  "searchQueries": ["bike"],
  "category": "sss",
  "filters": {"hasPic": 1},
  "maxItemsPerSearch": 1000,
  "includeDetails": false
}
```

### Pricing

- **Listing**: charged per listing from the search results.
- **Listing with details**: charged per listing when **Full listing details** is on (and for single listing URLs).

No start fee. Inputs that fail are reported as `error` records and are **not charged**.

### Tips and limits

- Price splitting only reaches listings that have a price. Jobs, services, gigs and community posts have no price, so they stop at 360 per search; split them by city part (e.g. `/search/brk/jjj`) or keyword.
- The same listing found by two searches is saved once.
- Coordinates in search results are rounded by Craigslist; details give the exact map pin and its accuracy.
- Contact details (phone, email) are hidden by Craigslist behind a button and are not collected.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Craigslist account?** No.

**Which countries work?** Every Craigslist city: US, Canada, UK, Europe, Asia, Australia. Use the city subdomain (e.g. `london`, `berlin`, `sydney`).

**Is it legal?** The actor reads publicly visible listings. Use the data in line with Craigslist's terms and local law.
