## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper: Real Article URLs & Full Text

Collect news articles from **Google News** by keyword, topic or top stories, in any country and language. Every article comes with the **real publisher URL** (not a `news.google.com` redirect), and you can also get the **full article text**, author and main image. Date ranges are split day by day, so one search can return **thousands of articles**, not just Google's usual 100.

### What you get

| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Article | Title, source name, source website, publish date |
| Real URL | The publisher's own article link, decoded from Google News |
| Full text | Main article text, author, description, image (optional) |
| Position | Rank in the Google News results |
| Google link | Original Google News link for reference |

### Use cases

- **Media monitoring and PR**: track every mention of a brand, product or person.
- **Market and competitor research**: follow news about your industry daily.
- **AI and RAG pipelines**: feed clean article text to an LLM or a vector database.
- **Trading and finance signals**: collect news for tickers and companies.
- **Content research**: see what the press writes about a topic this week.

### Input example

```json
{
  "queries": ["artificial intelligence", "site:reuters.com electric cars"],
  "country": "US",
  "language": "en",
  "dateFrom": "2026-10-01",
  "dateTo": "2026-10-15",
  "maxArticlesPerQuery": 500,
  "fetchFullText": true
}
```

You can also pick **Topics** (World, Business, Technology, Sports...) or turn on **Top stories**. Google News search operators work: `site:`, `-word`, `"exact phrase"`, `OR`.

### Output example

```json
{
  "query": "air fryer",
  "type": "search",
  "position": 4,
  "title": "Scientists put an air fryer in a sealed box for months",
  "source": "Earth.com",
  "sourceUrl": "https://www.earth.com",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-12T12:29:10+00:00",
  "url": "https://www.earth.com/lifestyle/scientists-put-an-air-fryer-in-a-sealed-box/",
  "author": "Derek Davis",
  "text": "Scientists put an air fryer in a sealed box for months and ...",
  "image": "https://www.earth.com/img/16x9/1920/media-2026/...jpg",
  "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMi1AFBVV95cUxP...",
  "country": "US",
  "language": "en"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per result, no start fee:

- **$0.002 per article** with the real URL ($2 per 1,000)
- **+$0.002 per article with full text**, only when *Full article text* is on and the text was extracted

Failed feeds and articles whose text could not be extracted are not charged for the text.

### Tips

- Without dates, Google News returns up to about 100 articles per search. Set **From date** to collect more: the Actor runs one search per day.
- Use **Time range** = Past 24 hours for a daily monitoring task.
- Some publishers block text extraction (paywalls); those articles still come with title, source and URL.

### FAQ

**Can I scrape news in other languages?** Yes. Set the country and language of the Google News edition, e.g. `DE` + `de` or `PL` + `pl`.

**Something broke or you need a feature?** Open an issue on the Actor page.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One per line. Google News search operators work too, e.g. "site:bbc.com climate" or "Tesla -Musk".

## `topics` (type: `array`):

Google News topic sections to scrape (headlines).

## `topStories` (type: `boolean`):

Also scrape the Google News front page.

## `country` (type: `string`):

2-letter country code of the Google News edition, e.g. US, GB, DE, PL, IN.

## `language` (type: `string`):

2-letter language code, e.g. en, de, pl, es.

## `timeRange` (type: `string`):

Recent articles only. Ignored when a start date is set.

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

Start date (YYYY-MM-DD). The range is split into single days, so you can collect far more than Google's 100 articles per search.

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

End date (YYYY-MM-DD). Empty = today.

## `maxArticlesPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

0 = no limit.

## `decodeUrls` (type: `boolean`):

Resolve Google News redirect links to the publisher's real article URL.

## `fetchFullText` (type: `boolean`):

Download each article and extract its main text, author, description and image. Billed as an extra event per article with text.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Parallel requests.

## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):

Attempts per request, each on a new proxy IP.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy is used by default; the Actor switches to residential IPs automatically if Google starts blocking.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "artificial intelligence",
    "air fryer"
  ],
  "topics": [],
  "fetchFullText": false,
  "maxConcurrency": 10,
  "maxRetries": 4,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One record per article.
