## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEEK Jobs Scraper: Australia & New Zealand Job Ads

Scrape **job ads from SEEK Australia (seek.com.au) and SEEK New Zealand (seek.co.nz)**. Search by keyword and location or paste SEEK search URLs, filter by date, work type, remote/hybrid, classification and salary. Every job comes with title, company, location, **salary parsed into min / max / interval**, work type, work arrangement, classification, posted date and, with **job details** on, the **full description**, expiry date, screening questions and the **company profile** (size, industry, website, rating).

The data comes from the same public endpoints the SEEK website uses, so it is fresh and fast. No login, no browser. Pay only per job delivered.

### What you can paste

- **Keywords**: `nurse`, `python developer`, `truck driver`, or a company name
- **Locations**: `Sydney NSW`, `All Melbourne VIC`, `4000`, `Auckland`
- **SEEK URLs**:
  - `https://www.seek.com.au/data-analyst-jobs/in-All-Sydney-NSW?daterange=7`
  - `https://www.seek.com.au/jobs-in-information-communication-technology?workarrangement=3`
  - `https://www.seek.co.nz/nurse-jobs/in-Auckland?worktype=242`

### What you get

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `jobId`, `title`, `company`, `advertiser` | 95364041, Reporting Analyst, Perigon Group |
| `location`, `locations`, `country` | Sydney NSW, AU |
| `workType`, `workArrangement`, `isRemote` | Contract/Temp, On-site, false |
| `classification`, `subClassification` | Accounting, Analysis & Reporting |
| `salaryText`, `salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryCurrency`, `salaryInterval` | $140k-$170k+Super, 140000, 170000, AUD, YEAR |
| `postedAt`, `postedAtText` | 2026-10-19T23:41:17Z, 10h ago |
| `teaser`, `bulletPoints`, `isFeatured`, `logoUrl` | short summary and the ad's key selling points |
| `url`, `applyUrl` | job page and application link |
| `descriptionText`, `descriptionHtml` | full job description (job details) |
| `expiresAt`, `status`, `isExpired`, `isExternalApply` | 2026-11-18T23:41:00Z, Active |
| `phoneNumber`, `emails`, `screeningQuestions` | contacts written in the ad, employer questions |
| `companySize`, `companyIndustry`, `companyWebsite`, `companyRating`, `companyReviewCount` | 101-1,000 employees, Insurance, 4.3, 19 |

Fields SEEK does not show for a job are `null`. Most advertisers hide the exact salary; `salaryMin`/`salaryMax` are filled only when the ad shows numbers.

### Use cases

- **Job boards and aggregators**: fresh Australian and New Zealand jobs in one consistent schema.
- **Recruitment agencies and sales**: see who is hiring, for which roles and where. Company size, industry and website help with outreach.
- **Salary and labour market research**: pay ranges by role, city and classification, tracked over time.
- **Job seekers**: daily alerts with filters SEEK's own e-mails do not offer.

### How to use

1. Add keywords and locations, or paste SEEK search URLs.
2. Optionally filter by **Listed in**, **Work type**, **Work arrangement**, **Classifications** and salary.
3. Set **Max jobs per search** and run. Each job is one dataset record.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["data analyst", "business analyst"],
  "locations": ["Sydney NSW", "All Melbourne VIC"],
  "dateRange": "7",
  "workArrangements": ["hybrid", "remote"],
  "includeDetails": true,
  "maxJobsPerSearch": 200
}
```

### Pricing

- **Job**: charged per job saved to the dataset, job details included. Searches that fail or find nothing are reported as `error` records and are **not charged**.

### Tips and limits

- SEEK shows at most about **550 results per search**. With **Get more than 550 jobs per search** on, a larger request is split by classification and work type automatically, and duplicates are removed.
- Use **Schedules** in Apify Console with **Listed in: Last 24 hours** for a daily feed of new jobs.
- Turn off **Include job details** for a faster list without descriptions.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** The actor reads public job ads that employers publish for job seekers. Use the data in line with SEEK's terms and data protection rules, especially for any contact details.

**Does it work for New Zealand?** Yes. Set **Country** to New Zealand or paste seek.co.nz URLs.

**Something missing?** Open an issue on the Issues tab and I will look at it.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Job titles, skills or companies, e.g. 'nurse', 'python developer', 'Woolworths'. An empty line = all jobs (combine with location and filters).

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Optional. Suburb, city, region or postcode as you would type it on SEEK: 'Sydney NSW', 'All Melbourne VIC', '4000', 'Auckland'. Every keyword runs in every location.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Site for keyword searches. URLs below use their own site.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional. Paste search result pages from seek.com.au or seek.co.nz, e.g. https://www.seek.com.au/data-analyst-jobs/in-All-Sydney-NSW?daterange=7 or https://www.seek.com.au/jobs-in-information-communication-technology. Filters in the URL are kept.

## `dateRange` (type: `string`):

Only jobs posted in this period.

## `workTypes` (type: `array`):

Optional. Any of the selected types.

## `workArrangements` (type: `array`):

Optional. Any of the selected arrangements.

## `classifications` (type: `array`):

Optional. SEEK job categories.

## `salaryType` (type: `string`):

Used with the salary range.

## `salaryMin` (type: `integer`):

Optional, e.g. 100000 (annual) or 40 (hourly). SEEK filters on the advertiser's salary, also when it is hidden.

## `salaryMax` (type: `integer`):

Optional.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order of results.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Full description (HTML and text), expiry date, status, external-apply flag, phone/e-mail found in the ad, screening questions, company size, industry, website and rating. Turn off for a faster list.

## `maxJobsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Limit for each keyword + location combination and each URL.

## `splitLargeSearches` (type: `boolean`):

SEEK shows at most about 550 results per search. When you ask for more, the search is split by classification and work type automatically.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many jobs in total. 0 = no limit.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify datacenter proxy works well.

## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):

Retries with a fresh proxy IP before a search is reported as failed.
