## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Twitch Scraper: Channels, Live Streams, VODs & Clips

Scrape **Twitch channels, live streams, videos (VODs), clips and categories** in one run. Paste channel names, search channels by keyword, or pick categories and languages, and get **followers, live status and viewers, stream titles and tags, social links**, past broadcasts with view counts, the most viewed clips, and the **top categories right now**.

No login, no browser, no Twitch API key. Pay only per record delivered.

### What you can scrape

- **Channels**: `kaicenat`, `https://www.twitch.tv/xqc`: followers, partner/affiliate, language, live now (viewers, title, category, tags), last stream, socials (Instagram, X, YouTube, Discord...), avatar and banner.
- **Channel search**: keywords like `minecraft` or `speedrun` find matching channels.
- **Live streams by category**: `just-chatting`, `Minecraft` or a `/directory/category/...` URL: top streams by viewers, filtered by language.
- **Top live streams**: the most watched streams on Twitch right now, overall or per language.
- **Top categories**: the most watched games and categories with viewers and live channel counts.
- **Videos (VODs)**: past broadcasts, highlights and uploads per channel, newest or most viewed.
- **Clips**: the most viewed clips per channel in the last day, week, month or all time.

### Use cases

- **Influencer and sponsor research**: find streamers in a game or language, compare followers and live viewers, collect their social links.
- **Market and game analytics**: track which categories and streams are on top, hour by hour, per language.
- **Esports and agencies**: monitor rosters, last stream dates and the clips that go viral.
- **Content teams**: pull the most viewed clips and VODs of a channel for highlights.

### How to use

1. Add channels, search keywords and/or categories, or turn on **Top live streams** / **Top categories**.
2. Optional: set **Stream languages** (`en`, `de`, `es`...) and how many streams per category.
3. Optional: set **Videos per channel** and **Clips per channel**.
4. Run, then open the Channels, Live streams, Videos and clips, or Categories view.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "channels": ["kaicenat", "https://www.twitch.tv/xqc"],
  "searchQueries": ["speedrun"],
  "maxChannelsPerSearch": 20,
  "categories": ["just-chatting", "Minecraft"],
  "languages": ["en", "de"],
  "maxStreamsPerCategory": 50,
  "topCategories": 20,
  "maxVideosPerChannel": 10,
  "maxClipsPerChannel": 10,
  "clipsPeriod": "LAST_WEEK"
}
```

### Pricing

- **Channel**: charged per channel record.
- **Stream, video, clip or category**: a lower price per record.

No start fee. Channels and categories that do not exist are reported as `error` records and are **not charged**.

### Tips and limits

- Twitch serves the top part of each list: up to 100 live streams per category and language, 30 top live streams per language, 100 top categories, and up to 100 videos and 100 clips per channel. Add languages to cover more streams in a big category.
- Schedule runs every 15–60 minutes to build viewer history for streams and categories.
- Only public data is collected. Chat messages, subscriber counts and private stats are not included.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Twitch account or API key?** No.

**Is it legal?** The actor reads public data that Twitch shows to every visitor. Use it in line with Twitch terms and data protection rules.

**Something missing?** Open an issue on the Issues tab and I will look at it.
