## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Upwork Jobs Scraper: Freelance Jobs, Budgets & Client Stats

Scrape **freelance job posts from Upwork** by keyword, with filters, or from any Upwork search URL. Each job comes with its **title, full description, fixed budget or hourly range, experience level, duration, workload, skills and post date**. Turn on **Job details** to add **client stats**: country and city, total spent, hires, rating, reviews, member since and payment verification. You also get **applicants and interviews**, category and qualifications.

No login, no browser. You pay per job delivered.

### What you can paste

- **Keywords**: `python`, `logo design`, `shopify`, `n8n automation`, one search per keyword, with sort, job type, experience level and payment-verified filters
- **Search URLs**: set any filters on Upwork (budget, hourly rate, proposals, client history, location...) and paste the URL, e.g. `https://www.upwork.com/nx/search/jobs/?q=react&sort=recency`
- **Category pages**: `https://www.upwork.com/freelance-jobs/python/` (latest 30 jobs)
- **Job links**: `https://www.upwork.com/jobs/~022112318823649021163` (always with details)

### Use cases

- **Freelancers and agencies**: get new jobs in your niche every hour and apply first.
- **Lead generation**: find clients with verified payment and high spend who are hiring right now.
- **Market research**: track budgets, hourly rates and demand by skill over time.
- **Alerts**: schedule the actor with **Newest first** and send new jobs to Slack, Sheets or email with Apify integrations.

### How to use

1. Add keywords, or paste Upwork search URLs with your filters.
2. Set **Max jobs per search** and the filters.
3. Optional: turn on **Job details + client stats**.
4. Run and open the **Jobs** view, or export to JSON, CSV or Excel.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["python scraping", "shopify developer"],
  "maxJobsPerSearch": 100,
  "sort": "recency",
  "jobType": "hourly",
  "experienceLevel": ["intermediate", "expert"],
  "includeJobDetails": true
}
```

### Pricing

- **Job**: charged per job from search results or category pages.
- **Job with details**: a higher price per job when **Job details** is on (one extra page per job).

No start fee. Pages that fail are reported as `error` records and are **not charged**.

### Tips and limits

- Upwork shows 50 jobs per search page. A search returns at most what Upwork shows to logged-out visitors.
- Client stats come from the job page, so they need **Job details**.
- Upwork blocks datacenter IPs, so the actor uses residential proxy by default.

### FAQ

**Do I need an Upwork account?** No.

**Can I get only new jobs?** Use **Newest first** and schedule the actor; use `jobId` to skip jobs you already have.

**Is it legal?** The actor reads publicly visible job posts. Use the data in line with Upwork's terms and local law.
