## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK New Companies Monitor (Companies House)

Find **newly incorporated UK companies** as soon as they appear in the official Companies House register. Filter by industry (SIC code), location and company name, and get a clean list with the registered address and a link to each company's record. Turn on **monitor mode** to receive only the companies that are new since your last run.

Useful for accountants, banks, insurers, software and service vendors, incorporation agents and anyone who sells to brand-new businesses.

### What you get

For every company:

- Company name and number, type, status
- Incorporation date and days since incorporation
- SIC codes (industry)
- Registered office address, split into street, town, region, postcode and country
- Link to the Companies House record

### How to use it

1. Choose SIC codes, a location or a name filter (all optional).
2. Set how many days back to look (1 to 90).
3. Run it. To get alerts, enable **monitor mode** and schedule the Actor daily.

#### Input

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `sicCodes` | Industry codes, for example `62012` (software). Empty means every industry. |
| `location` | Town, county or postcode area of the registered office. |
| `nameIncludes` | Text the company name must contain. |
| `companyStatus` | `active` (default), `dissolved` or `all`. |
| `incorporatedWithinDays` | How far back to look, 1 to 90 (default 7). |
| `maxItems` | Cap of companies returned and charged in one run. |
| `monitorMode` | Report only companies not seen before. First run saves a baseline. |
| `monitorKey` | Name of the monitor; use one per search. |
| `emitOnFirstRun` | Return everything on the first monitor run. |
| `webhookUrl` | http(s) address that receives new companies as a JSON POST. |

#### Sample output

```json
{
  "companyNumber": "16000001",
  "companyName": "ACME WIDGETS LTD",
  "status": "active",
  "type": "ltd",
  "incorporatedOn": "2026-09-23",
  "daysSinceIncorporation": 2,
  "sicCodes": ["62012", "62020"],
  "locality": "Leeds",
  "postalCode": "LS1 1AA",
  "address": "1 High Street, Leeds, LS1 1AA, England",
  "url": "https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/16000001"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per company returned. You are not charged for companies that are filtered out, and you can cap spending with `maxItems`.

### Data source and licence

Data comes from the official Companies House public data API. Companies House content is published under the [Open Government Licence v3.0](https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/), which allows commercial use. This Actor returns company-level data only (no officers or personal details).

# Actor input Schema

## `sicCodes` (type: `array`):

Industry codes (SIC 2007), for example 62012 (software) or 43210 (electrical installation). A company matches if it has any of them. Leave empty for every industry.

## `location` (type: `string`):

Town, county or postcode area of the registered office, for example Leeds or SW1.

## `nameIncludes` (type: `string`):

Only companies whose name contains this text.

## `companyStatus` (type: `string`):

Newly incorporated companies are almost always active.

## `incorporatedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

How far back to look, from 1 to 90 days.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit of companies returned (and charged) in one run.

## `monitorMode` (type: `boolean`):

Report only companies not seen in a previous run with the same monitor name. The first run saves a baseline and reports nothing, unless you enable 'Report everything on the first run'. Schedule the Actor daily.

## `monitorKey` (type: `string`):

Runs with the same name share their memory. Use a different name for each search you monitor.

## `emitOnFirstRun` (type: `boolean`):

In monitor mode, return all current matches on the first run instead of only saving a baseline.

## `webhookUrl` (type: `string`):

In monitor mode, the new companies are also sent as a JSON POST to this http(s) address. Works with Slack, Zapier, Make, n8n or your own server.
