## Pricing

from $0.24 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Scraper

A fast **Google Trends API** alternative. Get **interest over time**, **interest by country and region**, **related queries** (top and rising), **compare up to 5 keywords**, and today's **Trending Now** searches for any country. Hundreds of keywords per run, no browser, automatic retries, results in clean JSON.

> Independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by Google LLC. It reads the same public data you see on trends.google.com.

### What you get

One row per keyword with the time series, regions and related queries (real result, shortened):

```json
{
  "searchTerm": "chatgpt",
  "geo": "IT",
  "timeRange": "today 12-m",
  "timeline": [{ "date": "2026-10-11T00:00:00.000Z", "value": 88, "isPartial": true }],
  "interestBySubregion": [{ "geoCode": "IT-25", "geoName": "Lombardy", "value": [100] }],
  "relatedQueries_top": [{ "query": "chatgpt gratis", "value": 100 }],
  "relatedQueries_rising": [{ "query": "chatgpt atlas", "value": 4250, "formattedValue": "+4,250%" }],
  "trendsUrl": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=chatgpt&date=today+12-m&hl=en-US&geo=IT"
}
```

**Try it in 1 click: the prefilled example runs in under a minute.** Press *Start* with the prefilled keyword ("artificial intelligence", past 12 months, worldwide): in our test today it finished in 16 seconds at 512 MB and costs $0.0024 on the Apify Free plan (less on paid plans).

**Price:** per 1,000 results (one keyword with all its data, or one trending search), from $2.40 on the Apify Free plan down to $0.24 on Gold and above, platform usage included, no start fee.

### Why this Google Trends scraper

- **Simple, predictable price**: platform usage included and **no start fee**, so you know the cost before the run. 20% cheaper per result than apify/google-trends-scraper on Free, Bronze, Silver and Gold plans (e.g. $2.40 vs $3.00 per 1,000 on Free), and that actor also bills platform usage on top. A single keyword costs $0.0024 on Free, $0.00024 on Gold.
- **Reliable**: each request retries through a fresh proxy session; one bad keyword never fails the whole run, it is skipped and listed in the `FAILED` record (and not billed).
- **Batches**: send hundreds of keywords in one run, processed in parallel.
- **Drop-in compatible**: accepts the input fields of the most popular Google Trends actors (`searchTerms`, `isMultiple`, `timeRange`, `customTimeRange`, `geo`, `category`, `startUrls`, `spreadsheetId`, `maxItems`, `mode`, `keyword`, `predefinedTimeframe`, `fetchRegionalData`, `trendingSearchesCountry`, `trendingSearchesTimeframe`, `trendingSearchesCategories`, `trendingSearchesMaxItems`) and returns the same output field names, so switching usually means changing only the actor ID.
- **Monitoring built in**: schedule it with `onlyNew` to receive only new trending searches or new rising queries.

### What you can do with it

- **SEO and content planning**: find rising queries before competitors and plan articles around them.
- **Market research**: compare brands or products (up to 5 per chart) and see in which countries and regions interest is highest.
- **Seasonality**: 5-year weekly series to plan inventory, campaigns and budgets.
- **News and social monitoring**: Trending Now by country with search volume, growth %, category and related searches, every hour if you want.
- **AI agents and dashboards**: one clean JSON object per keyword, ready for LLMs, BI tools and spreadsheets.

### Input

```json
{
  "searchTerms": ["chatgpt", "iphone, samsung, pixel"],
  "isMultiple": true,
  "geo": "US",
  "timeRange": "today 12-m",
  "category": "",
  "property": "",
  "includeInterestByRegion": true,
  "includeRelated": true
}
```

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `mode` | `keyword`, `trending` or `both`. Empty: keyword if you pass terms, otherwise trending. |
| `searchTerms` / `keyword` | Keywords to analyse; each is one result. |
| `isMultiple` | Treat `"a, b, c"` as a comparison on the same chart (max 5 terms). |
| `startUrls` | trends.google.com explore URLs; terms, geo, dates, category and property are read from the URL. |
| `spreadsheetId` | Public Google Sheet, keywords in the first column. |
| `timeRange` / `customTimeRange` | `now 1-H`, `now 4-H`, `now 1-d`, `now 7-d`, `today 1-m`, `today 3-m`, `today 12-m` (default), `today 5-y`, `all`, or `"2025-01-01 2025-06-30"`. |
| `geo` | Country or region code (`US`, `IT`, `US-CA`…). Empty = worldwide. |
| `category` / `property` | Trends category id; web, `images`, `news`, `froogle` (Shopping) or `youtube`. |
| `includeInterestByRegion` / `includeRelated` | Turn the country/region breakdown and related queries/topics on or off. |
| `trendingSearchesCountry`, `trendingSearchesTimeframe` (4/24/48/168 h), `trendingSearchesCategories`, `trendStatus`, `trendingSearchesMaxItems` | Trending Now options. |
| `maxItems`, `maxConcurrency` | Limits and parallelism. |
| `onlyNew`, `monitorStoreName` | Monitoring mode. |

### Output

**Keyword** (one item per keyword or comparison):

```json
{
  "type": "keyword",
  "searchTerm": "chatgpt",
  "geo": "IT",
  "timeRange": "today 12-m",
  "data_granularity": "week",
  "timeline": [{ "date": "2026-10-11T00:00:00.000Z", "value": 88, "isPartial": true }],
  "timeline_data": { "2026-10-11": 88 },
  "interestOverTime_timelineData": [{ "time": "1791936000", "formattedTime": "Oct 11 – 17, 2026", "value": [88], "hasData": [true], "formattedValue": ["88"], "isPartial": true }],
  "interestBySubregion": [{ "geoCode": "IT-25", "geoName": "Lombardy", "value": [100], "formattedValue": ["100"] }],
  "relatedQueries_top": [{ "query": "chatgpt gratis", "value": 100, "formattedValue": "100", "link": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=chatgpt+gratis&date=today+12-m&geo=IT" }],
  "relatedQueries_rising": [{ "query": "chatgpt atlas", "value": 4250, "formattedValue": "+4,250%" }],
  "relatedTopics_top": [],
  "relatedTopics_rising": [],
  "isPartial": false,
  "errors": [],
  "trendsUrl": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=chatgpt&date=today+12-m&hl=en-US&geo=IT"
}
```

`timeline` is the easy format (ISO dates, one number per term); `interestOverTime_timelineData` keeps Google's original structure. Comparisons add one column per term in `timeline` and `relatedByTerm`. Worldwide searches return countries in `interestBy`.

**Trending Now** (one item per trend):

```json
{
  "type": "trending",
  "rank": 1,
  "term": "frosinone - sassuolo",
  "category": "Sports",
  "trend_volume": "100K+",
  "trend_volume_raw": 100000,
  "increase_percentage": 1000,
  "is_active": true,
  "trend_timeframe": { "start": "2026-10-16T19:30:00.000Z", "end": null },
  "related_terms": ["frosinone sassuolo", "frosinone calcio"],
  "geo": "IT",
  "timeframe_hours": "24",
  "trends_url": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=frosinone%20-%20sassuolo&geo=IT&date=now%207-d"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per result, platform usage included. The price depends on your Apify plan:

| Event | Free | Bronze | Silver | Gold, Platinum, Diamond |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Result (one keyword or comparison with all its data, or one trending search) | $0.0024 | $0.0008 | $0.0004 | $0.00024 |
| Run start | free | free | free | free |

Examples on the Free plan: 1,000 keywords with timeline, regions and related queries = $2.40 ($0.24 on Gold). Today's 200+ trending searches for a country ≈ $0.53 ($0.05 on Gold). Set a maximum total charge to cap spending; the actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Migrating from apify/google-trends-scraper

The main input fields have the same names, so an existing input usually works after changing the actor ID to `lagenuina_agency/google-trends-scraper`.

| apify/google-trends-scraper input | This actor | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `searchTerms` | `searchTerms` | Same. |
| `isMultiple` | `isMultiple` | Same: comma-separated terms on one chart, max 5. |
| `timeRange` | `timeRange` | Same values; empty = past 12 months. |
| `customTimeRange` | `customTimeRange` | Same format, `YYYY-MM-DD YYYY-MM-DD`. |
| `geo` | `geo` | Same codes; empty = worldwide. Region codes such as `US-CA` also work. |
| `category` | `category` | Same Trends category IDs. |
| `startUrls` | `startUrls` | Same: trends.google.com explore URLs. |
| `spreadsheetId` | `spreadsheetId` | Same, public sheet, first column. Difference: row 1 is read as a keyword too, not as a title. |
| `maxItems` | `maxItems` | Same: 0 = no limit. |
| `maxConcurrency` | `maxConcurrency` | Same idea; capped at 5 here. |
| `viewedFrom` | (not supported) | Ignored. To route requests through one country, set `apifyProxyCountry` in `proxyConfiguration`. |
| `skipDebugScreen` | (not needed) | Ignored: no browser, so no page snapshots are saved. |
| `maxRequestRetries`, `pageLoadTimeoutSecs` | (not needed) | Ignored: retries with fresh proxy sessions are built in. |
| (not available) | `mode`, `trendingSearches*`, `trendStatus` | Extra: Trending Now by country. |
| (not available) | `property`, `language`, `includeInterestByRegion`, `includeRelated`, `onlyNew` | Extra: YouTube/News/Images/Shopping search, language, toggles, monitoring. |

**Output:** the field names in the apify/google-trends-scraper README example are kept (`inputUrlOrTerm`, `searchTerm`, `interestOverTime_timelineData`, `interestOverTime_averages`, `interestBy`, `interestBySubregion`, `interestByCity`, `relatedQueries_top`, `relatedQueries_rising`, `relatedTopics_top`, `relatedTopics_rising`). Differences: `interestByCity` is always empty here (see limits), and each item adds `type`, `timeline` (ISO dates), `timeline_data`, `region_data`, `trendsUrl`, `isPartial` and `errors`.

**Price per 1,000 results** (public Apify Store prices, checked on 17 October 2026):

| Apify plan | apify/google-trends-scraper | This actor |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $3.00 + platform usage | $2.40, platform usage included |
| Bronze | $1.00 + platform usage | $0.80, platform usage included |
| Silver | $0.50 + platform usage | $0.40, platform usage included |
| Gold | $0.30 + platform usage | $0.24, platform usage included |
| Platinum / Diamond | $0.15 / $0.10 + platform usage | $0.24, platform usage included |

On apify/google-trends-scraper the platform usage (compute units, default 4 GB memory) is billed to you on top of the result price, so the total depends on the run. On Platinum and Diamond its price per result is lower than ours, and whether it is cheaper overall depends on that platform usage: compare the total cost of the same input on your own runs.

**Run outcomes:** in the last 30 days per Apify public stats, 13,359 of 23,693 runs of apify/google-trends-scraper succeeded (about 56%); the others ended as aborted (4,836, which includes runs stopped by users), timed out (4,992) or failed (506). We have not benchmarked the two actors side by side: run the same input on both and compare.

### Limits / not supported

- Google Trends values are relative (0–100), not absolute search volumes. Trending Now gives Google's approximate volume buckets (e.g. "100K+").
- Up to 5 terms per comparison, as on trends.google.com.
- `interestByCity` is always empty: Google does not serve city rows to automated sessions.
- Related *topics* are returned only when Google provides them for the session; related *queries* are always requested.
- Trending Now covers one country per run and the current 4, 24, 48 or 168 hours; past Trending Now days are not available.
- Up to 5 terms are processed in parallel. A term Google keeps rejecting after the retries is skipped, listed in the `FAILED` record and not billed.
- Google Sheets must be public; search terms are read from the first column.

### Monitoring

Turn on `onlyNew`, give each monitor its own `monitorStoreName`, and add an Apify Schedule:

- **Trending Now**: only trends not returned before (perfect for hourly Slack or email alerts).
- **Keywords**: an item is returned only when new rising queries appear, listed in `newRisingQueries`.

### Use it from AI agents (MCP)

This actor is a ready-made tool for any MCP client (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, custom agents) through the Apify MCP server:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apify": { "url": "https://mcp.apify.com/?actors=lagenuina_agency/google-trends-scraper" }
  }
}
```

Ask things like *"What is trending in Italy right now in Sports?"*, *"Compare interest in iPhone, Samsung and Pixel in the US over the last 5 years"* or *"Which rising queries appeared for 'electric bikes' in Germany this month?"*. Inputs map one-to-one to the question and the answer comes back as compact JSON.

### Integrations and API

Call it from your code with the official Apify clients:

```python
## pip install apify-client
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("lagenuina_agency/google-trends-scraper").call(run_input={"searchTerms": ["artificial intelligence"], "timeRange": "today 12-m"})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item)
```

```js
// npm i apify-client
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });
const run = await client.actor('lagenuina_agency/google-trends-scraper').call({"searchTerms": ["artificial intelligence"], "timeRange": "today 12-m"});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
```

No-code: use the Apify app in **n8n**, **Make** or **Zapier** (action "Run Actor", pick `lagenuina_agency/google-trends-scraper`), or the `langchain-apify` / CrewAI `ApifyActorsTool` integrations for AI agents. Results can also be pushed to Google Sheets, Slack, webhooks or any S3 bucket via Apify integrations.

### FAQ

**Is there an official Google Trends API?** Google has an alpha API with limited, on-request access. This actor gives you the same public data today, with no approval needed.

**Is pytrends still maintained?** No, the popular Python library is archived on GitHub. This actor is a maintained, hosted replacement you can call from Python, JavaScript, Make, Zapier, n8n or any HTTP client.

**pytrends not working or returning 429 Too Many Requests?** Google rate-limits repeated requests from one IP. This actor runs on Apify Proxy and retries rate-limited requests automatically through a fresh proxy session, and you call it from Python with `apify-client` (see Integrations and API above) instead of pytrends.

**What do the values mean?** Google Trends values are relative (0–100) to the highest point for the chosen terms, place and time. Rising query values are % growth; "Breakout" means more than +5000%.

**How many keywords can I scrape?** Hundreds per run. Each keyword is billed once, whatever the amount of data.

**Why are related topics sometimes empty?** Google currently returns related *topics* only for some sessions; related *queries* are always included. When Google provides topics, they are in `relatedTopics_top` and `relatedTopics_rising`.

**Can I get regional data?** Yes: worldwide searches return countries, and with `geo` set to a country (e.g. `IT`) you get its regions. Google does not currently serve city-level rows to automated sessions, so `interestByCity` is kept only for compatibility and is empty.

**Is scraping Google Trends legal?** The actor reads publicly available, aggregated and anonymous data. You are responsible for how you use it; check your local laws and Google's terms.

**Something broke?** Open an issue on the Issues tab: we answer within 24 hours.
