## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bulk URL Status Code & Redirect Chain Checker

Check thousands of URLs: HTTP status codes, full redirect chains (301/302/307/308), loops, final URL, canonical, noindex and response time. Essential for SEO migrations, broken link and backlink audits.

### What does it do?

Check the **HTTP status code and full redirect chain** of thousands of URLs. For each URL you get every hop (**301, 302, 303, 307, 308**) with status, location and timing, the **final URL and status**, redirect **loops**, chain length, HTTP→HTTPS and host changes, **canonical** (and whether it matches), **meta robots / X-Robots-Tag noindex**, title, last-modified and total response time – plus an `issues` list (REDIRECT_CHAIN, TEMPORARY_REDIRECT, BROKEN_URL, NOINDEX, CANONICAL_MISMATCH…).

### Why use it?

- SEO site migrations: verify every old URL 301-redirects to the right new URL.
- Backlink and broken-link audits: find dead links (404/410) and chains that leak link equity.
- Affiliate & ad link checks: confirm tracking links resolve correctly.
- Uptime-style checks for lists of landing pages.

### Quick start

1. Click **Try for free** / **Start**.
2. Paste your list (the example input already works – just press Start).
3. Download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or use the API, schedules and integrations (Make, Zapier, n8n, Slack, Google Sheets…).

### Input example

```json
{
  "urls": ["http://apify.com", "https://example.com/old-page"],
  "checkSeoSignals": true,
  "onlyProblems": false
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "inputUrl": "http://apify.com",
  "finalUrl": "https://apify.com/",
  "finalStatusCode": 200,
  "redirectCount": 1,
  "redirectTypes": [301],
  "redirectChain": [{ "url": "http://apify.com/", "statusCode": 301, "location": "https://apify.com/" }, { "url": "https://apify.com/", "statusCode": 200 }],
  "httpToHttps": true,
  "issues": []
}
```

### Pricing

Pay only for results: **$1.00 per 1,000 URLs** (pay-per-event). No subscription. Platform usage is included in the price. You can set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops before exceeding it.

### FAQ

**Why GET and not HEAD?**

Many servers answer HEAD incorrectly. GET with manual redirect handling gives accurate results; bodies are only read when SEO checks are on.

**Can I pay only for problems?**

Yes – enable “Only return problems” and healthy URLs are not saved or charged.

### Legal & responsible use

This Actor only accesses publicly available data and official public APIs, respects robots.txt where applicable and paces its requests. You are responsible for using the results in line with applicable laws (e.g. GDPR/CCPA) and the terms of the data sources.
