## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Wayback Machine Scraper – Domain History, Archived URLs & Snapshots

Use the Internet Archive to get any domain’s history: first/last archive date, archive age, yearly activity, every archived URL (recover lost pages, plan redirects) or snapshot lists with direct links.

### What does it do?

Query the **Internet Archive Wayback Machine** for any domain. Three modes: **Summary** – first & last archive date, archive age in years, months archived per year and inactive gaps (great for domain due diligence); **Archived URLs** – every unique URL ever archived for the domain (recover deleted pages, plan 301 redirects, rebuild content); **Snapshots** – capture list for a domain or exact URL with direct web.archive.org links, status codes and content digests (monthly, yearly, daily or all).

### Why use it?

- Expired-domain buyers & SEO: check a domain’s real history before buying.
- Site migrations: recover old URLs that need redirects.
- Content recovery: find and restore lost pages.
- Research, journalism and legal evidence of past website content.

### Quick start

1. Click **Try for free** / **Start**.
2. Paste your list (the example input already works – just press Start).
3. Download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or use the API, schedules and integrations (Make, Zapier, n8n, Slack, Google Sheets…).

### Input example

```json
{
  "targets": ["apify.com"],
  "mode": "summary"
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "domain": "apify.com",
  "archived": true,
  "firstSnapshotDate": "2015-03-01T…Z",
  "lastSnapshotDate": "2026-10-…Z",
  "archiveAgeYears": 11.6,
  "totalMonthsArchived": 128,
  "monthsArchivedPerYear": { "2015": 9, "2016": 12 }
}
```

### Pricing

Pay only for results: **$1.00 per 1,000 results** (pay-per-event). No subscription. Platform usage is included in the price. You can set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops before exceeding it.

### FAQ

**Is it fast?**

We use the official CDX API and pace requests politely, as the Internet Archive asks. Summary mode needs one request per domain.

**Are empty results charged?**

No. Targets with no archive data go to FAILED_INPUTS and are free.

### Legal & responsible use

This Actor only accesses publicly available data and official public APIs, respects robots.txt where applicable and paces its requests. You are responsible for using the results in line with applicable laws (e.g. GDPR/CCPA) and the terms of the data sources.

### Support

Found a bug or need a feature? Open an issue on the Actor’s **Issues** tab – we usually reply within 24 hours. Check our other tools: Website SEO & Broken Link Auditor, B2B Lead & Tech Stack Intelligence, Shopify Product Scraper and ATS Jobs Scraper.
