## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### Output

LatSouth unified schema (same names as the [LATAM Company Finder](https://apify.com/latsouth/latam-company-finder)):
`tax_id` (RUC, 13 digits), `tax_id_formatted`, `legal_name`, `trade_name`, `legal_form` + `legal_form_normalized`,
`is_active`, `status` (active, inactive, suspended), `sector`, `activity_code_local` / `activity_label_local`,
`activity_label_en`, `isic_section` / `isic_division` / `isic_class` with English labels, `region` (province),
`region_name`, `region_iso`, `city` (canton), `registration_date` + `registration_date_basis`, `data_as_of`, `source`,
`source_license`.

### Sources, licence and attribution

Servicio de Rentas Internas (SRI) del Ecuador, Catastro RUC by province (<https://www.sri.gob.ec/datasets>),
**CC BY 4.0** — commercial use allowed with attribution, a licence link and an indication of changes. Keep this credit
(each row's `source` holds it):

> Fuente: Servicio de Rentas Internas (SRI) del Ecuador, Catastro RUC por provincia (https://www.sri.gob.ec/datasets),
> corte 2026-10-01, licencia CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Datos transformados (solo
> sociedades, un registro por RUC, clasificacion ISIC en ingles, forma juridica inferida del nombre); no es un producto
> oficial del SRI.

### Limitations

- **No street address**: the open Catastro publishes province, canton and parish of the head office, not the street.
This actor returns province, canton and parish.
- **No size or workers**, e-mail, phone or website.
- `legal_form` is inferred from the company name (the SRI file has no legal-form column); 43k rows are "no determinado".
- About 21% of company RUCs issued by the SRI do not pass the classic modulo-11 check digit test; they are real RUCs.

### Pricing

Pay per event: `company-result`, **US$0.003** per company row returned (1,000 = US$3). Set a maximum cost per run and the
actor stops when it is reached (`OUTPUT.stopped_by_budget`). Full files and custom segments:
