## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## LinkedIn Company Scraper

Get the public facts from any LinkedIn company page - name, website, employee count, followers, address and logo - as clean JSON. No LinkedIn login, no cookies, no browser. Pay only for companies that return data.

### Who it is for

- **Sales teams** enriching a list of target accounts with website, headcount and location.
- **Market researchers** comparing company size and audience across a sector.
- **Recruiters and agencies** checking where a company is based and how big it is.

### What you get per company

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `companyName` | Company name |
| `companyUrl` | LinkedIn company page |
| `description` | About text |
| `website` | Website the company lists |
| `employeeCount` | Employee count shown on the page |
| `followerCount` | LinkedIn followers |
| `streetAddress`, `city`, `region`, `postalCode`, `country` | Headquarters address as listed |
| `logoUrl` | Logo image link |
| `scrapedAt` | Time of the scrape |

A field is `null` when the company does not list it.

### Input

| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `companyUrls` | list of text | Full page links such as `https://www.linkedin.com/company/microsoft` |
| `companyNames` | list of text | The company's LinkedIn page name, for example `google` or `microsoft`. It must match the ending of the company's LinkedIn link |
| `maxCompanies` | number | Safety cap per run, 1 to 5000, default 100 |

### Example output

```json
{
  "companyName": "Microsoft",
  "companyUrl": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/microsoft",
  "website": "https://news.microsoft.com/",
  "employeeCount": 231136,
  "followerCount": 29370761,
  "streetAddress": "1 Microsoft Way",
  "city": "Redmond",
  "region": "Washington",
  "postalCode": "98052",
  "country": "US",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-26T03:04:26.027Z"
}
```

(`description` and `logoUrl` are also returned; shortened here.) This is real output from a run on Apify on 26 Oct 2026.

### Pricing

Pay per event: one charge per company that returns data. Price: **$0.003 per company** (plus Apify platform usage, which is small). Pages that fail, are missing or return no data are not charged.

### Run it from code

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/YOUR_USERNAME~linkedin-company-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"companyUrls":["https://www.linkedin.com/company/microsoft"],"maxCompanies":50}'
```

### Limits - read before you buy

- It reads only what LinkedIn shows to a visitor who is not logged in. It does **not** return industry, company size range, founded year, specialties, employee names or job posts.
- Some companies hide details; those fields come back `null`.
- A name that does not match a LinkedIn page name returns no data (and no charge). Check failures in the `SUMMARY` record of each run, which lists every input that failed and why.
- LinkedIn can slow or block requests at any time. If a run returns 0 companies it fails, and nothing is charged.

### FAQ

**Does it need my LinkedIn account?** No.
**Does it scrape people profiles?** No, companies only.
**What happens if a run is partly blocked?** Companies that returned data are delivered and charged; failed ones are listed in `SUMMARY`.
**Is the data guaranteed to be current?** It is what the public page shows at the time of the run.
