## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Amazon Best Sellers scraper: rank, price and rating

Pull the current Amazon Best Sellers list for any department. Each row is one ranked product: its Best Sellers rank, ASIN, title, price, star rating and review count.

You pay only for products actually delivered. A failed category costs nothing.

### What you get

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `rank` | 1 |
| `title` | Apple AirPods Pro 3 Wireless Earbuds |
| `asin` | B0FQFB8FMG |
| `price` | 199 |
| `rating` / `reviewCount` | 4.4 / 16200 |
| `category` | electronics |
| `url` | Link to the product page |
| `scrapedAt` | When the row was fetched |

Every row is a flat record, so it opens in Excel or Google Sheets.

#### Sample output

```json
{
  "category": "electronics",
  "rank": 2,
  "asin": "B0FQFB8FMG",
  "title": "Apple AirPods Pro 3 Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation",
  "price": 199,
  "rating": 4.4,
  "reviewCount": 16200,
  "url": "https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FQFB8FMG",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-09T07:50:00.000Z"
}
```

### Quick start

1. Type one or more department slugs in **Categories**. `electronics`, `beauty`, `kitchen` all work. Use `all` to pull every department on the Best Sellers hub.
2. Set **Max results per category**. Amazon shows 50 products per page, up to 100 with page 2.
3. Click **Start**.

The default input (`electronics`, 50 results) runs as-is.

### Use cases

- Watch a category's top 50 daily and flag products that jump or drop.
- Compare prices of the current #1–#10 against last week.
- Feed a product-research sheet without logging into Seller Central.
- Give an AI agent a fresh ranked catalog through the API.

### What happens when something goes wrong

- **A category URL is wrong?** That category returns 0 rows and you are not charged for it. Other categories still run.
- **Amazon serves a blank page?** Same: 0 rows, no charge, the run summary says which one failed.
- **Fewer than you asked for?** Some departments have a short list. The summary shows how many Amazon had.

Look for `RUN_SUMMARY` in the run's key-value store.

### Input

| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `categories` | yes | Department slugs, full `/zgbs/...` paths, or `all` |
| `maxResultsPerCategory` | no | 1 to 100, default 50 |

### Pricing

Pay per product delivered, plus Apify's small start fee per run. Set a maximum cost per run and the scraper stops when it hits your limit.

### FAQ

**Do I need an Amazon account?**
No. This reads the public Best Sellers pages.

**Are ranks live?**
Yes. Amazon reshuffles these lists through the day. Re-run before you act on a number.

**Does this scrape search results or product reviews?**
No. Best Sellers lists only. Search and reviews are separate scrapers.

**Something broke?**
Open an issue with the category you used. I answer within a day.

### Limitations

- US Amazon (amazon.com) only.
- Some products have no public price (unavailable or "see options"). Those rows still include rank and title.
- Ranks 51 to 100 come from page 2. Once in a while Amazon lists 49 instead of 50 on a page; you get what Amazon shows.

### Export or use as an API

Download any run's results from the **Storage** tab as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML.

To call it from your own code, send your input to Apify's API and get the rows back in one request:

```
POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/leathered_latch~amazon-bestsellers-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN
```

It also plugs into Make, Zapier and n8n through Apify's integrations, and AI agents can find and run it through Apify's MCP server.

### Your responsibility

How you use the output is your call, and so is the legal side of it. Copyright still covers any text or images you republish. The source site's own terms apply too. If you're unsure about a use, check with a lawyer first.

If you own content that shows up in these results and want it handled differently, open an issue on the Issues tab. We answer within 14 days.

### Data source and credit

Every row comes from Amazon.com (Amazon.com, Inc.). We don't own this data, and we don't take credit for it. The rankings, prices and ratings belong to Amazon and its sellers.

This tool reads only what Amazon shows to any logged-out visitor. No logins, no private data. Each row keeps a link back to the page it came from (the `url` field), so you can check any result and credit the source when you use it.

Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Amazon. All names and trademarks belong to their owners.

### Changelog

- **0.1.4** Full 100 per category. Amazon only renders 30 of every 50 products at first; the scraper now loads the other 20 the way the page itself does. Rank now comes from Amazon's own rank data, and ratings come from the star widget, so neither can merge with nearby numbers.
- **0.1** First release. Department slugs, hub crawl (`all`), page 2 for ranks 51 to 100.
