## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## YouTube Channel Videos Scraper: every video with views, length and date

Paste a channel and get its videos as rows, newest first: title, views, upload age, length and link. Works for long videos, Shorts and past live streams.

You pay only for videos delivered. A channel that doesn't exist costs nothing.

### What you get

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `channelName` / `channelHandle` | Veritasium / @veritasium |
| `channelSubscribers` | 21.4M subscribers |
| `position` | 3 (newest = 1) |
| `title` | We sent a camera to space to film the solar eclipse |
| `views` / `viewCount` | 2.7M / 2700000 |
| `published` | 1mo ago |
| `duration` / `durationSeconds` | 22:45 / 1365 |
| `type` | video, short or stream |
| `url` | Link to the video |

#### Sample output

```json
{
  "channelName": "Veritasium",
  "channelId": "UCHnyfMqiRRG1u-2MsSQLbXA",
  "channelHandle": "@veritasium",
  "channelSubscribers": "21.4M subscribers",
  "channelVideoCount": "539 videos",
  "type": "video",
  "position": 3,
  "videoId": "J1WoNuemKOg",
  "title": "We sent a camera to space to film the solar eclipse",
  "url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1WoNuemKOg",
  "views": "2.7M",
  "viewCount": 2700000,
  "published": "1mo ago",
  "duration": "22:45",
  "durationSeconds": 1365
}
```

### Quick start

1. Type channels into **Channels**: `@handle`, a channel link, or a `UC...` ID.
2. Choose **Videos**, **Shorts** or **Live streams**.
3. Set **Max videos per channel** (up to 2,000) and click **Start**.

The default input lists 60 videos from @mkbhd.

### Use cases

- See which topics a competitor's channel gets the most views on.
- Track a channel's upload rhythm and spot when it slows down.
- Build a list of video links, then feed them to our YouTube Transcript Scraper.
- Compare Shorts vs long-form performance for the same creator.

### About the numbers

`views` and `published` are exactly what YouTube shows on the channel page, so they're rounded ("2.7M", "1mo ago"). `viewCount` turns the rounded figure into a number you can sort. If you need exact counts or the exact upload date, open the video page; we checked 8 Veritasium videos and the rounded numbers were within 4% of exact.

Shorts don't show length or upload date on the channel page, so those fields are empty for Shorts.

### What happens when something goes wrong

A channel that doesn't exist, or text that isn't a channel, shows up in `RUN_SUMMARY` with the reason and isn't charged. If you enter the same channel twice (say, @handle and its link), each video is still only charged once.

### Pricing

Pay per video delivered, plus Apify's small start fee per run. Set a maximum cost per run and the scraper stops at your limit.

### FAQ

**Does it need a YouTube API key?**
No.

**Can I get the transcript too?**
Not in this tool. Use the `url` column with our YouTube Transcript Scraper.

**Playlists?**
Not yet.

**Something broke?**
Open an issue with the channel. I answer within a day.

### Limitations

- Views and dates are YouTube's rounded display values.
- Members-only and private videos don't appear.
- Very large channels (thousands of videos) take a minute or two.

### Export or use as an API

Download any run's results from the **Storage** tab as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML.

To call it from your own code, send your input to Apify's API and get the rows back in one request:

```
POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/leathered_latch~youtube-channel-videos-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN
```

It also plugs into Make, Zapier and n8n through Apify's integrations, and AI agents can find and run it through Apify's MCP server.

### Your responsibility

How you use the output is your call, and so is the legal side of it. Copyright still covers any text or images you republish. The source site's own terms apply too. If you're unsure about a use, check with a lawyer first.

If you own content that shows up in these results and want it handled differently, open an issue on the Issues tab. We answer within 14 days.

### Data source and credit

Every row comes from YouTube (Google LLC). We don't own this data, and we don't take credit for it. The video titles, thumbnails and stats belong to the creators of each channel.

This tool reads only what YouTube shows to any logged-out visitor. No logins, no private data. Each row keeps a link back to the page it came from (the `url` field), so you can check any result and credit the source when you use it.

Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google. All names and trademarks belong to their owners.
