## Pricing

from $1.80 / 1,000 carrier records

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Motor Carrier Lookup: Trucking Company Search & Vetting

*Unofficial tool. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), or any government agency. No government seals or logos are used.*

Look up US trucking and bus companies in the public carrier census file and export one row per USDOT number. It's for freight brokers and shippers vetting carriers, factoring and insurance underwriters, TMS and load-board developers, and compliance teams.

**Input:** USDOT numbers, MC / MX / FF docket numbers, company-name prefixes, or a city + state listing, with status, operation, entity-type, hazmat and fleet-size filters.

**Output:** USDOT number, legal and DBA name (see Privacy), USDOT status, interstate / intrastate operation, entity types, for-hire classification, MC dockets and their status, physical and mailing city / state / ZIP, fleet (power units, trucks, drivers, owned and leased equipment), hazmat flag, cargo classes, last MCS-150 date and mileage, safety rating and last review, prior-revoked USDOT flag, a SAFER snapshot link and plain-language **vetting flags** (inactive USDOT, not authorized for hire, brand-new record, stale MCS-150, conditional or unsatisfactory rating, prior revoked number, undeliverable address).

**Confirm on the official SAFER company snapshot and licensing & insurance records** before booking a load or paying a carrier. Operating authority and insurance filings are not in the census file and are not included.

### Input

- `dotNumbers`: up to 5,000 USDOT numbers (`USDOT 123456` and `123456` both work). Numbers not in the file come back as free `not-found` rows.
- `mcNumbers`: up to 500 dockets like `MC-123456`, `MX-12345`, `FF-1234` or `123456`
- `companyNames`: up to 100 legal or DBA name prefixes, 3+ characters
- `city` + exactly one state in `states`: list every carrier in that city
- Filters for name searches and city listings: `states`, `usdotStatus`, `operation`, `entityType`, `hazmat`, `minPowerUnits`, `maxPowerUnits`
- `maxResults`: up to 20,000

### Output fields

`type`, `matched_by`, `dot_number`, `legal_name`, `dba_name`, `name_withheld`, `likely_individual_or_sole_proprietor`, `business_type`, `usdot_status`, `operation`, `entity_types`, `authority_class`, `dockets`, `physical_address`, `mailing_address`, `undeliverable_address`, `fleet`, `hazmat`, `cargo`, `cargo_other`, `mcs150`, `added_date`, `safety`, `prior_revoked`, `snapshot_url`, `vetting_flags`, `confirm_at`

**Privacy.** Company officer names, phone, fax, cell phone, email and D\&B numbers are never returned.

- **Exact lookups** (`dotNumbers`, `mcNumbers`): the registered name is shown. For carriers that look like individuals or sole proprietors, and for residential-looking addresses, the street line and ZIP+4 are withheld (city, state and ZIP5 stay).
- **Name searches** (`companyNames`): the legal and DBA names of likely individuals / sole proprietors are withheld; addresses as for exact lookups.
- **City listings** (`city`): names of likely individuals are withheld, and the street line and ZIP+4 are withheld on **every** record (city, state and ZIP5 stay).

**Opt-out.** Removal requests: support@lepidata.com. Requests are handled within 30 days; opted-out carriers are dropped from every result.

Free status rows (not charged): `not-found`, `no-results`, `invalid-input`, `api-error`, `free-plan-limit`, `charge-limit-reached`.

**Example:** `{"dotNumbers":["86876"],"mcNumbers":["MC-123456"],"companyNames":["SCHNEIDER NATIONAL"],"maxResults":50}`

### Not a consumer report

Not a consumer report. Lepidata is not a consumer reporting agency. Do not use this data to decide credit, insurance, employment or housing eligibility for an individual.

You are responsible for your own CAN-SPAM, TCPA and do-not-call compliance when contacting any business found here.

### Data source and compliance

- Source credit: the Company Census File (dataset az4n-8mr2) on the U.S. Department of Transportation open data portal, data.transportation.gov (FMCSA data). US government public data, updated daily. Requests are spaced at least 1 second apart, following the portal's robots.txt.
- Unofficial data. It can be out of date or wrong: confirm on the official SAFER company snapshot before relying on it. Not legal, safety or insurance advice.
- Free-plan accounts get up to 100 results per run.

**Pricing.** Pay per result: $1.80 per 1,000 carriers ($0.0018 each), the same price on every plan, no start fee. Free status rows are never charged.
