## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### What you get

- **One row per recorded lien or UCC filing:** deduplicated by the county document number.
- **Debtor and secured-party detail:** every published party and role, not just the name that matched the search.
- **Amounts:** consideration, loan amount and down payment when the county publishes them.
- **Property data:** the recorded legal description, subdivision, lot, block, unit, section/township/range, acreage and PIN.
- **Document data:** document number, type code, type description, department, recording date and time and page count.
- **Release flags:** IRS releases, partial federal tax-lien releases, UCC terminations, partial releases and revocations are marked so you can separate active liens from paid-off filings.

### Input and filters

All inputs are optional.

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `debtorNames` | array | no | (none) | Names to search on the debtor, owner, defendant or grantor side, up to 20. Partial names are supported, for example SMITH, JONES or GOODLEAP. Each name is searched separately and results are deduplicated. |
| `securedPartyNames` | array | no | (none) | Names to search on the secured-party, lien claimant, creditor or plaintiff side, up to 20. For example INTERNAL REVENUE, SERVISFIRST BANK, a hospital, an HOA or a contractor. Releases are also matched by the releasing party. |
| `documentNumbers` | array | no | (none) | Exact Baldwin County Probate Judge document numbers, up to 20, for example 2026-2284045 or 2026-2284039. The actor returns the exact document number, not prefix matches. |
| `lienTypes` | array | no | `["ucc", "tax_lien", "judgment_lien", "li` | Categories to include. Allowed values: ucc, tax_lien, judgment_lien, lis_pendens, other_lien. Leave empty for all categories. |
| `includeReleases` | boolean | no | `true` | Include IRS tax-lien releases, partial releases of federal tax liens, UCC terminations, partial releases and revocations. Turn off to return only new liens and active filings. |

A working example to paste into the Input tab:

```json
{
  "maxFilings": 1,
  "dateFrom": "2026-09-21",
  "dateTo": "2026-10-21",
  "lienTypes": [
    "ucc",
    "tax_lien",
    "judgment_lien",
    "lis_pendens",
    "other_lien"
  ],
  "includeReleases": true
}
```

### Use cases

- Pull Gulf Coast liens from Baldwin County, including vendor's lien deeds, with the document type and code on each row.
- **Commercial lenders and credit teams:** monitor a borrower or lender name for new secured-party activity.
- **Collections and recovery:** surface federal tax liens, judgments, hospital liens and HOA liens against a debtor.
- **KYB and due diligence:** inspect the parties, amounts, property and document data behind a recorded lien.
- **Construction, title and property researchers:** pull Baldwin County lien and UCC records without a subscription.

### Coverage and freshness

**Lien families covered**

| Family | County index codes | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| `ucc` | `UCC`, `UCC1`, `UCC CONT`, `UCC TERM`, `UCC PREL`, `UCC REV`, `UCC ASG` | UCC-1 initial financing statements, continuations, terminations, partial releases, revocations and assignments |
| `tax_lien` | `TAX`, `IRS`, `PRFTL` | Federal and state tax liens, IRS releases and partial releases of federal tax liens |
| `judgment_lien` | `JDG` | Judgment liens and judgment renewals |
| `lis_pendens` | `LIS` | Lis pendens notices |
| `other_lien` | `LIE`, `VL`, `VLC`, `CVL` | Hospital, HOA and state statutory liens; vendor's lien deeds and their corrected/condo versions |

Consumer-sensitive family, child-support, Medicaid and welfare records are filtered out if they appear. Void records and generic `UCC3`/`UCC AMEN` rows are excluded because their party direction is not reliable.

- **Jurisdiction:** Baldwin County, Alabama (Probate Judge recorded-document index).
- **Source:** Baldwin County public real-property and UCC search.
- **Index through:** 2026-10-20 when last checked.
- **Target-record volume:** 507 real-property lien records and 26 UCC records in the last 30 days; 7,448 real-property lien records and 760 UCC records for 2026 year-to-date; 17,027 real-property lien records and 1,753 UCC records for 2025-01-01 through 2026-10-21.
- **Families:** UCC filings and the UCC-3 chain, federal and state tax liens and releases, judgments, lis pendens, hospital/HOA/state liens and vendor's lien deeds.

Counts move with recording activity. Use a date range and `maxFilings` to control the run.

**Party direction**

The county does not use one party convention for every instrument. The actor enforces this per index code:

- **General liens (`LIE`), judgments (`JDG`), tax liens (`TAX`), IRS releases (`IRS`), partial federal tax-lien releases (`PRFTL`) and vendor's lien deeds (`VL`, `VLC`, `CVL`)** publish the creditor, claimant or seller on the grantor side and the debtor, owner or purchaser on the grantee side.
- **Lis pendens (`LIS`)** publish the defendants on the grantor side and the plaintiffs on the grantee side, so the defendants are the debtor side.
- **UCC initial filings, continuations and the generic UCC index (`UCC`, `UCC1`, `UCC CONT`)** publish the debtor on the grantor side and the secured party on the grantee side.
- **UCC terminations, partial releases and revocations (`UCC TERM`, `UCC PREL`, `UCC REV`)** are filed by the secured party, so the debtor is the grantee and the releasing secured party is the grantor.
- **UCC assignments (`UCC ASG`)** transfer the secured-party position and name no debtor; all published parties are kept on the secured-party side.

The raw grantor and grantee lists are always included, so no published party is silently dropped.

Child-support, family-support, CSE, Medicaid, welfare, divorce, custody, paternity and protection-order names are filtered out if they appear. Document images and certified copies are not downloaded. The dataset is public-record research, not an FCRA consumer report.

### Pricing

This actor uses pay-per-event pricing. These are the current Apify prices, read on 2026-11-06.

| Event | Price | When it is charged |
|---|---|---|
| `result` | $0.015 | Each record delivered to your dataset |
| `apify-actor-start` | $0.003 | When a run starts, once per GB of run memory with a minimum of one |

At the default 512 MB, a run that delivers 100 records costs $1.503.

- Apify asks for a maximum spend of at least $0.018 per run on this actor.
- Accounts on the free Apify plan receive up to 10 results per run.
- If nothing matches or the source fails, you get one row with an `error` field and no `result` charge. The start event still applies to the run.
- Set a maximum cost per run and the actor stops delivering results when it reaches that limit.

### Comparison with other Apify actors

No dedicated actor for this source on the Apify Store as of November 2026. We searched the public Store on 2026-11-06 with queries including "Baldwin County Alabama lien", "Baldwin County recorder" and "Baldwin County ucc", and we reviewed the listings for this source and data type. Broader actors exist: `shelvick/property-deed-records` searches deed and lien records from county recorder indexes. Their listings do not name this source, so we could not confirm that they cover it. Store listings change, so run the same search before you rely on this.

### FAQ

**Is this an FCRA consumer report?**

No. It is public-record research and workflow automation.

**Does it return the actual document image?**

No. It returns the index data and a link to the public search page for the document number. Images and certified copies are not downloaded or sold.

**Does it include UCC-3 continuations and terminations?**

Yes. The UCC department exposes continuations, terminations, partial releases, revocations and assignments. The actor maps each code and marks releases and terminations.

**Why are some UCC codes missing?**

The generic `UCC3` and `UCC AMEN` codes are excluded because their party direction is not reliable.

**Can I search by address?**

Search is by party name or exact document number. The output includes the recorded legal description and property data, which you can filter downstream.

**Does it include child-support or Medicaid liens?**

No. Those are consumer-sensitive and excluded.

**Can I get more than 10 results on a free plan?**

No. Paid users can request up to 1,000.
