## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Lake County IL Lien Filings: Debtors, UCC & Tax Liens

Search recorded **lien, tax-lien, judgment, municipal-lien and UCC filings in Lake County, Illinois:** Waukegan, North Chicago, Zion, Gurnee, Mundelein, Libertyville, Round Lake, Highland Park, Lake Zurich and the rest of the county, by debtor, lender, claimant or exact document number. Get the parties, lien family, filing type, release flag, recording date, amount, document number and legal description as flat rows.

Lake County's Recorder publishes an online index of recorded land records and UCC filings. This actor turns that public index into structured rows you can load into a CRM, a spreadsheet, a skip-trace, a title workflow or a credit-monitoring job.

Here is one real record from this actor. Long text and long lists are shortened here; a live run returns them in full. `source_page`, `source_url` are left out of this example and included in your dataset.

### What you get

- **Parties:** debtor, taxpayer, property owner or defendant, plus the secured party, lender, taxing authority, judgment creditor or lien claimant. Both normalized roles and the raw grantor/grantee names are included.
- **Lien family:** tax, UCC / secured interest, judgment, mechanics, municipal or other statutory lien.
- **Filing type:** federal tax lien, mobile-home tax lien, state tax lien release, mechanic's lien release, municipal lien, chattel lien, judgment, foreclosure judgment, UCC financing statement, UCC continuation, UCC assignment, UCC amendment, UCC termination and their releases.
- **Release flag:** `is_release` is true for releases, terminations, discharges and partial releases, so you can separate new distress from payoffs.
- **Money:** `amount_usd` from the county consideration field, or from a dollar amount in the legal description when consideration is absent.
- **Recording detail:** recorded date and time, instrument date, document number, instrument number, book/volume/page, page count and county document group.
- **Property and legal detail:** subdivision, condominium, lot, block, township/section, legal description and any property address or parcel identifier the county publishes.

All inputs are optional.

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |

### Use cases

- Search Chicago's north suburbs for mechanics liens and releases across land records and UCC departments from 1980 on.
- **MCA, equipment-finance and factoring teams:** find businesses with a fresh UCC financing statement and identify the incumbent lender from the secured party.
- **Commercial lenders and credit teams:** monitor new tax liens, judgments and UCC filings against a borrower or prospect list.
- **Tax-lien investors and property attorneys:** find federal, state, mobile-home and municipal tax liens and their releases.
- **Construction and supplier credit:** find mechanic's liens and releases by owner, contractor or project.

### Coverage and freshness

Data comes from the Lake County Recorder's public Land Records and UCC Filing departments for recorded dates from 1980 to today. The source is live; the latest recording observed was **2026-10-30** and the index certified date was **2026-10-28**.

In the 2025-10-01 through 2026-10-31 window the selected lien and UCC families returned **4,995** recordings:

- **Land Records:** 3,621 statutory-lien recordings, including 383 federal tax liens, 609 mobile-home tax liens, 464 city/village/county liens, 255 mechanic's liens, 698 judgments, 14 foreclosure judgments, 194 general liens, 49 tax-deferral liens, 10 chattel liens, 2 lottery/unemployment liens and 943 releases (federal, state, mobile-home, mechanic, judgment, deferral and general lien releases).
- **UCC Filing:** 1,374 recordings, including 788 financing statements, 165 continuations, 29 assignments, 18 amendments and 374 terminations.

Lake County publishes a legal description for many instruments, not a situs address. When the county does not publish an address or parcel, those fields are `null` rather than invented. Amounts are published only on some instruments; `amount_usd` is populated only when a value is present.

### Pricing

This actor uses pay-per-event pricing. These are the current Apify prices, read on 2026-11-06.

| Event | Price | When it is charged |
|---|---|---|
| `result` | $0.015 | Each record delivered to your dataset |
| `apify-actor-start` | $0.003 | When a run starts, once per GB of run memory with a minimum of one |

At the default 512 MB, a run that delivers 100 records costs $1.503.

- Apify asks for a maximum spend of at least $0.018 per run on this actor.
- Accounts on the free Apify plan receive up to 10 results per run.
- If nothing matches or the source fails, you get one row with an `error` field and no `result` charge. The start event still applies to the run.
- Set a maximum cost per run and the actor stops delivering results when it reaches that limit.

### Comparison with other Apify actors

No dedicated actor for this source on the Apify Store as of November 2026. We searched the public Store on 2026-11-06 with queries including "Lake County Illinois lien", "Lake County recorder" and "Lake County ucc", and we reviewed the listings for this source and data type. Broader actors exist: `shelvick/property-deed-records` searches deed and lien records from county recorder indexes. Their listings do not name this source, so we could not confirm that they cover it. Store listings change, so run the same search before you rely on this.

### FAQ

**Is this a consumer credit report?**

No. It is public-record research for business, lending, title and due-diligence workflows.

**Why is the debtor sometimes on the grantee side?**

Lake County indexes every statutory-lien family in Land Records with the lienholder, agency or claimant as grantor and the debtor or owner as grantee. The UCC Filing department instead publishes explicit debtor and secured-party fields. The actor maps each department to the correct direction and also returns the raw grantor and grantee lists.

**How fresh is the data?**

The index is live. A run sees instruments as soon as the Recorder indexes them, subject to normal county processing.

**Can I get only new filings, not releases?**

Yes. Set `includeReleases` to `false`, or use `releasesOnly` to invert it.

**Does it return the document image?**

No. You get the indexed data for each recording, along with the document number you need to order a copy from the recording office.
