## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

Search Rhode Island UCC filings by debtor, secured party, lender or assignee. Each record carries the filing number, original filing number, filing type and date, the full party list with addresses, collateral text when published, document details, the calculated lapse date and a normalized lien status. Built for lender research, MCA and equipment finance lead generation, credit review, KYB and lien monitoring.

### What you get

- Filing number, original filing number, filing type, filing action and filing category.
- Filing date, filing time, calculated lapse date and normalized lien status: `active`, `lapsed` or `terminated`.
- Every debtor on the filing with street, city, state, ZIP and country.
- Every secured party, lender or funder with its own address fields.
- Assignee names, collateral description and document file names, page count and byte size.
- Chain context: number of filings in the original UCC-1 chain and the latest filing date.
- Which name matched the search and whether it was a debtor, secured party or assignee.

Output is flat snake_case JSON. Arrays contain scalars only. Missing values are `null`, never an empty string.

### Who is it for

- MCA, ISO and broker teams sourcing Rhode Island merchants with fresh secured filings.
- Equipment finance, factoring, invoice finance and commercial lending teams.
- Credit, collections and portfolio monitoring teams tracking new liens and terminations.
- KYB, legal, restructuring and due diligence teams checking Rhode Island lien exposure.
- Data teams that need Rhode Island UCC records in a warehouse-ready format.

### How to use it

1. Add one or more names. For organizations, use the legal name or a prefix such as `SMITH`.
2. Choose organization or individual. For individuals use `Last, First Middle Suffix` or just the last name.
3. Pick the name matching mode: begins with, Article 9 standard search, or exact match for organizations.
4. Select whether names may match debtors, secured parties, assignees, or several of these.
5. Optionally filter by party city, party state, filing date range and lapsed filings.
6. Leave amendments on to include UCC-3 amendments, continuations, assignments and terminations, or turn them off for initial UCC-1 statements only.
7. Set the maximum number of filings and run the actor.

### Coverage and freshness

The actor reads the Rhode Island Department of State public UCC search. It covers initial UCC-1 financing statements and the UCC-3 amendments, continuations, assignments and terminations published in each filing history. `observed_at` records when the row was collected.

Rhode Island publishes a filing date and time, not a lapse date. The `lapse_date` field is calculated from the five-year UCC effectiveness period starting at the initial filing, then reset by each continuation. Verify it against the official record before making a lending decision.

Rhode Island does not publish debtor phone numbers, email addresses, officer names or a stable public record URL. The actor returns `null` for fields the state does not publish. Collateral text is published on the initial UCC-1 and is usually absent from later amendments, which is reflected in the output.

### Pricing

$0.03 per result. Free users can preview up to 10 results per run. You are charged only for filing records that are delivered. If a run returns no data, there is no charge.

### FAQ

#### Does it search secured parties as well as debtors?

Yes. Turn on secured parties to find every Rhode Island filing where a lender, funder or equipment finance company is the secured party. Assignee search is also available.

#### Can I get only new UCC-1 filings?

Yes. Set a filing date and turn off amendments. Each returned row includes `filing_category` so you can filter initial statements, amendments, continuations and terminations downstream.

#### How is the lien status determined?

A filing chain is `terminated` when a termination filing is present. Otherwise it is `lapsed` when the calculated lapse date has passed, and `active` when it has not.

#### Is this a certified UCC search?

No. It returns public records for research and workflow automation. It is not a certified UCC search and it is not a legal opinion.

#### Can I search by filing number?

Name search is the supported path in this version. Filing numbers are returned on every record so you can join them to other data.
