## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Israel Vehicle Lookup by License Plate

Look up any Israeli license plate (מספר רישוי) in the **official Ministry of Transport vehicle registry** and get clean, English-labeled vehicle data. Paste one plate or thousands, get a table you can export to CSV, Excel or JSON, or call from the API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent via MCP.

### What you get for each plate

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer and model | Toyota, COROLLA |
| Year and age | 2019, 7 years |
| Color, fuel type | White, Gasoline |
| Ownership type | private, leasing, rental, company |
| First on road | 2019-05 |
| Last annual test (טסט) | 2026-02-20 |
| License valid until, still valid?, days left | 2027-03-01, true, 144 |
| VIN, engine code, tire sizes, trim, pollution group | |
| Raw Hebrew government record (optional) | |

### Who uses it

- **Used-car dealers and buyers:** check that the year, model and ownership history (ex-leasing, ex-rental) match the ad.
- **Insurance and leasing companies, fleet managers:** enrich and validate plate lists in bulk.
- **Garages and car apps:** auto-fill vehicle details and remind customers before their license expires.
- **Researchers and AI agents:** structured Israeli vehicle data without Hebrew parsing.

### How to use

1. Enter plates in the **License plates** field. Dashes and spaces are fine (`12-345-67`).
2. Click **Start**.
3. Download results from the **Dataset** tab, or fetch them through the API.

### Pricing

Pay per result: you are charged only for plates that are found. Plates that are not in the registry are returned with `found: false` and are free.

### Data source

Israel's official open-data portal, data.gov.il, which publishes the Ministry of Transport registry of private and commercial vehicles. The data is public and updated by the government; this Actor does not log in anywhere or scrape locked pages. It covers registered private and commercial vehicles; motorcycles, trucks above a certain weight and removed-from-road vehicles may not appear.

### FAQ

**Is this the official government data?** Yes, it reads the Ministry of Transport dataset that the government publishes on data.gov.il.

**Does it show the owner's name?** No. The government dataset does not include owner identity, only the ownership type.

**How fresh is it?** As fresh as the government dataset, which is refreshed regularly.

### Need the full history?

[Israel Used Car Check - Vehicle History by Plate](https://apify.com/lior-tools/israel-used-car-check-vehicle-history-by-plate) adds mileage at the last test, leasing/rental history, open safety recalls, off-road status, LPG and structure changes, specs and plain-English risk flags.

This Actor is an independent tool and is not affiliated with the Israeli government.
