# AI Image Detector: is this image AI-generated? (`lmbtechnology/ai-image-detector`) Actor

Check image URLs for AI generation (Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, Flux, GPT-image and more). Each image gets an AI probability from 0-100%, a verdict and a confidence level. Pay only for images that were checked.

## Pricing

from $30.00 / 1,000 images

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## AI Image Detector: is this image AI-generated?

Check any number of images for AI generation. Give the Actor a list of image URLs, and it returns one row per image: the **probability the image is AI-generated (0–100%)**, a plain **verdict** and a **confidence level**. It recognizes images from Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, Flux, GPT-image, Imagen and other generators.

It runs the same detector as the free [AI Image Detector on lmbtechnology.com](https://lmbtechnology.com/ai-image-detector), made by LMB Technology.

### What you can use it for

- **Content moderation:** flag AI-made photos in user uploads, listings, reviews or profiles.
- **Marketplaces and dating apps:** spot fake product photos and fake profile pictures.
- **Newsrooms and fact-checkers:** screen images before you publish them.
- **Research:** measure how many AI images appear on a site, a hashtag or a dataset.
- **AI agents and automations:** give your agent, Make, Zapier or n8n flow an "is this AI?" tool through the Apify API or MCP.

### How to use it

1. Paste image URLs into **Image URLs**, one per line. You can also send them through the API.
2. Click **Start**.
3. Open the **Results** tab, or download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel.

Images must be on the public web: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF or AVIF, up to 15 MB each. Duplicate URLs are checked once.

### Input example

```json
{
  "imageUrls": [
    "https://example.com/photo-1.jpg",
    "https://example.com/photo-2.png"
  ],
  "maxConcurrency": 4
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "imageUrl": "https://example.com/photo-1.jpg",
  "aiProbability": 97,
  "verdict": "Likely AI-generated",
  "confidence": "High",
  "error": null,
  "checkedAt": "2026-10-20T03:55:33.116Z"
}
```

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `aiProbability` | How likely the image is AI-generated, from 0 to 100. |
| `verdict` | "Likely AI-generated" at 50 or more, "Likely real" below 50. |
| `confidence` | High, Medium or Low: how far the score is from 50. |
| `error` | Why an image couldn't be checked. These rows are **not charged**. |

### Pricing

You pay **per image checked**. You only pay for images that got a result. Broken links, files that aren't images and images behind a login are listed with an error and cost nothing.

The Actor respects your **maximum cost per run**. It never checks more images than your limit can pay for, and it tells you how many were left out.

### Tips for better results

- Use the **largest version** of an image you can find. Thumbnails and heavily compressed copies hide the traces the detector looks for.
- A screenshot of an image is still checkable, but a cropped screenshot of just the image works better than a whole screen.
- Treat the result as a **strong signal, not proof**. Edited real photos can score high, and some AI images score low. For important decisions, check several versions of the image and use your own judgment.

### Privacy

- LMB Technology does not store your images, their URLs or the results. Only a count of checks is kept, for billing.
- Your results stay in your own Apify account (your run's dataset).
- Images are fetched only from the public web. Private and internal network addresses are refused.

# Actor input Schema

## `imageUrls` (type: `array`):

Public web addresses of the images to check (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF; up to 15 MB each). One per line. Duplicates are checked once.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many images to check at the same time.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "imageUrls": [
    "https://lmbtechnology.com/og.png"
  ],
  "maxConcurrency": 4
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All checked images, as JSON (add ?format=csv or ?format=xlsx for a spreadsheet).

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "imageUrls": [
        "https://lmbtechnology.com/og.png"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("lmbtechnology/ai-image-detector").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
