## Pricing

from $0.28 / 1,000 companies

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## B2B Company List Builder: by Industry, City and Country

Build a list of companies for one country, filtered by industry code and town, from the official company registers.
Each row has the legal name, registry number, status, legal form, incorporation date, industry codes with labels,
registered town and postcode, and the company's website where we know it, with the CMS, shop platform and company
social profiles seen on that site. By default you get active companies that have a website.

It's for people who sell to or study a defined group of businesses: agencies looking for clients in one trade and
town, SaaS sales teams building account lists by industry, local service firms (cleaners, IT support, accountants,
fit-out) mapping their area, and researchers counting companies by sector and place.

### Quick start

Paste this into the **JSON** tab and press **Start**:

```json
{
  "country": "GB",
  "industry": "62",
  "city": "Manchester",
  "maxResults": 100
}
```

That returns up to 100 active software and IT companies registered in Manchester that have a website.

### Ready-made inputs

Every active software company in Manchester with a website (agencies, SaaS sales):

```json
{ "country": "GB", "industry": "62", "city": "Manchester", "maxResults": 2000 }
```

UK accounting and bookkeeping firms with a website (SIC codes 69201, 69202 and 69203 all start with 692):

```json
{ "country": "GB", "industry": "692", "maxResults": 5000 }
```

Every active restaurant in Nantes, with or without a website (local services). NAF 56.10A is traditional restaurants
and 56.10C fast food:

```json
{ "country": "FR", "industry": "56.10", "city": "Nantes", "segment": "active" }
```

Hairdressers and beauty salons in Helsinki (Finland's TOL 2008 code 96021 is hairdressing):

```json
{ "country": "FI", "industry": "9602", "city": "Helsinki", "segment": "active" }
```

Irish IT companies incorporated since 2024, in any status, for a market study:

```json
{ "country": "IE", "industry": "62", "segment": "all", "incorporatedSince": "2024-01-01", "maxResults": 20000 }
```

A whole country's building trades over several runs. Leave `onlyNew` on and run it again until the status message says
"That is the whole list":

```json
{ "country": "NO", "industry": "43", "segment": "active", "maxResults": 50000, "onlyNew": true }
```

### Inputs

- `country`: one ISO code (required). See the coverage table below. Any other code, for example `DE`, lists that
  country's companies with an LEI.
- `industry`: optional. A code or the start of one, in the country's own system. It matches any of a company's codes,
  so `62` finds a company whose second activity is software too. See "Industry codes" below.
- `city`: optional. The registered office's town as the register writes it, for example `Manchester`. Case and accents
  don't matter. It's the registered address, which for small firms is often an accountant's office or the owner's
  home town rather than where they trade. France writes Paris, Lyon and Marseille by arrondissement, so a plain `Paris`
  may miss most companies there.
- `segment`: `active-with-website` (the default), `active`, `all` (any status, including dissolved) or `with-lei`
  (companies with a Legal Entity Identifier, any status).
- `maxResults`: the most companies one run returns. 1,000 if empty, up to 2,000,000.
- `onlyNew`: off by default. When on, the run skips companies this account already got from the same list (same
  country, segment, industry and town) in an earlier run. Skipped companies are free. Use it to fetch a big list over
  several runs, or to schedule a monthly run that returns only the additions.
- `incorporatedSince`, `incorporatedBefore`: optional. A date (`2020-01-01`) or a span back from today (`6 months`,
  `2 years`). Since is inclusive, before leaves the date itself out. Australia and Japan state no incorporation dates,
  so these filters don't work for `AU` or `JP`.

Lists come in registry id order, so the same input gives the same list each time until the next monthly rebuild. From
the API you can also set `"order": "newest"` to get the newest incorporations first.

### Industry codes

Each country uses its own classification. For the European countries and Singapore the first two digits mean the same
thing, so `62` is software and IT, `56` restaurants, cafes and bars, `69` legal and accounting, `43` building trades and
`96` hairdressing and personal services everywhere. The deeper digits are written differently:

| Country | Classification | Software development | Restaurants |
|---|---|---|---|
| UK (`GB`) | SIC 2007 (5 digits) | `62012` Business and domestic software development | `56101` Licensed restaurants |
| France (`FR`) | NAF rév. 2 (with a dot and a letter) | `62.01Z` Programmation informatique | `56.10A` Restauration traditionnelle |
| Norway (`NO`) | SN2007, NACE-based (with a dot) | `62.01` | `56.10` |
| Finland (`FI`) | TOL 2008, NACE-based | `6201` | `5610` |
| Czechia (`CZ`) | CZ-NACE | `62` | `56` |
| Ireland (`IE`) | NACE Rev. 2 | `62` | `56` |
| Singapore (`SG`) | SSIC | `62` | `56` |
| US (`US`) | SEC filers: US SIC. Connecticut: NAICS | SIC `7372`, NAICS `5415` | SIC `5812`, NAICS `7225` |

Not every register gives industry codes. Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Australia, Canada and Japan, and the New York,
Colorado, Oregon, Iowa, Florida and Texas registers, publish none, so an `industry` filter returns nothing there. Use `city` and `segment`
alone for those.

Labels come in the register's language. UK labels are English and French ones are French; for the other countries the
first code carries the register's own description where it gives one.

### What you get

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `name`, `previousName` | Legal name, and the former name where the register gives one |
| `website`, `websites` | The best matched website, and every matched website with how it was matched |
| `websiteMethod`, `websiteConfidence` | How the best website was matched (stated in the register, registry number printed on the company's own site, the site's structured data, name and postcode, or Wikidata) and our confidence in it |
| `cms`, `ecommerce`, `technologies` | The CMS, shop platform and other technologies seen on the company's site, where we have read it |
| `socials`, `hasBlog`, `profileUpdated` | Company social profiles linked from its own site, whether it has a blog, and when we read the site |
| `city`, `postcode`, `country` | Registered office town and postcode |
| `industryCodes`, `industryLabels`, `industrySystem` | Industry codes, their labels, and the classification |
| `status`, `active`, `legalForm`, `incorporated` | The register's status, an `active` flag, legal form, incorporation date |
| `registryNumber`, `id`, `scheme` | The number on the register, and our id with its scheme (`GB-CH-09263424`) |
| `employees`, `lei` | Stated employees and LEI, where known |
| `registryUrl`, `source`, `registry` | The record's page on the register and which register it came from |
| `licence`, `attribution` | The register's licence and the credit line to keep with the data |
| `lastUpdated` | The date we last rebuilt the data from the registers |

Organisations only. There are no directors, owners, shareholders, employees or other people in any row, and no email
addresses or phone numbers. Sole traders and other natural persons are left out by each register's own legal forms.

### Coverage

| Finland (`FI`) | Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) | TOL 2008 |
| Czechia (`CZ`) | Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) | CZ-NACE |
| Ireland (`IE`) | Companies Registration Office | NACE Rev. 2 |
| Singapore (`SG`) | ACRA, via data.gov.sg | SSIC |
| Sweden (`SE`) | Bolagsverket | None |
| Estonia (`EE`) | e-Business Register (RIK) | None |

### Limits

- **Websites are known for only part of each country.** We match a website when the register states it, when the
  company's own site prints its registry number, or from name and postcode or Wikidata. Most small companies have no match yet, so
  the default `active-with-website` list is much shorter than `active`, and in some countries and towns it's nearly
  empty. Switch to `segment: "active"` for the full register.
- **No people and no contact details.** No names of directors or staff, no emails, no phone numbers.
- **Monthly data.** We rebuild from each register's newest open file about once a month, so recent changes can take a
  few weeks to show. Each row's `lastUpdated` shows the build it came from.
- **Registered address only.** `city` and `postcode` are the registered office, not every place a company trades.
- Canada covers federal corporations, not provincial ones. US coverage is SEC filers, six state registers and Texas franchise taxpayers.

### Price

You pay per company returned. Companies an `onlyNew` run skips are free.

| Event | Starter | Scale | Business |
|---|---|---|---|
| Company | $0.50 per 1,000 | $0.375 per 1,000 | $0.275 per 1,000 |

A run stops cleanly at `maxResults` or at the run's maximum charge, whichever comes first, and says so in its status
message. Run it again with `onlyNew` on to carry on from there.

### Licences and attribution

These are official open-data files. Most licences let you reuse the data, including commercially, as long as you
credit the source. Each row carries its register's line in `attribution`. Keep it with the data wherever you use or
pass it on:

- UK: Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- France: Source: INSEE, Sirene database, Licence Ouverte / Etalab 2.0.
- Norway: Contains data under the Norwegian licence for Open Government data (NLOD) distributed by the Brønnøysund

- Ireland: Contains data from the Companies Registration Office (CRO), Ireland, CC BY 4.0.
- Latvia, GLEIF, SEC and the US state registers are public domain or ask for no credit. Their rows still name the
  source.

### Removal requests

If a record about your organisation is wrong, or you want it removed, email apify@locaihost.org with the company's
registry id or name. Removed records stop appearing in every run. You don't need to give a reason.

### Good to know

- If you contact these companies, the marketing rules of their country apply to you: for example PECR in the UK, the
  GDPR in the EU and the Spam Act in Australia. You control what you do with the list. Use it lawfully and in line with
  each source's licence.
- Lookups by company name or registry number are in Company Registry Lookup, and lists of newly incorporated companies
  in New Company Registrations (both by locaihost data on the Apify Store).

Did it help? A short rating on the Store helps other people find it.

# Actor input Schema

## `country` (type: `string`):

One ISO country code: GB, FR, NO, SE, FI, EE, CZ, IE, LV, SG, AU, CA, JP or US. Any other code (for example DE) lists that country's companies with an LEI.

## `industry` (type: `string`):

Optional. A code or the start of one, in the country's own system; it matches any of a company's codes. The first two digits mean the same in the UK (SIC 2007), France (NAF), Norway, Finland, Czechia, Ireland (NACE-based) and Singapore (SSIC): 62 software and IT, 56 restaurants, cafes and bars, 69 legal and accounting, 43 building trades, 96 hairdressing and personal services. Go deeper for one activity: UK 62012 (software development), France 62.01 (programmation informatique), Norway 62.01. US rows use SEC SIC or Connecticut NAICS codes, which are numbered differently.

## `city` (type: `string`):

Optional. The registered office's town, as the register writes it (case and accents don't matter), for example Manchester, Nantes or Göteborg.

## `segment` (type: `string`):

Active companies with a website we know (the default), every active company, every company we hold in any status, or companies with an LEI in any status.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many companies (1 to 2,000,000). Empty = 1,000.

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Skip companies this account already got from an earlier run of the same list (same country, segment, industry and town). Skipped companies are free. Turn it on to fetch a big list over several runs, or to get only the additions each month.

## `incorporatedSince` (type: `string`):

Only companies incorporated on or after this date: 2020-01-01, or a span back from today like "6 months" or "2 years". Australia's and Japan's files state no incorporation date, so leave it empty for AU and JP.

## `incorporatedBefore` (type: `string`):

Only companies incorporated before this date (the date itself is left out): 2015-01-01, or a span back from today like "5 years".
