# Company Ownership & Group Structure (`locaihost/company-ownership`) Actor

Find who owns a company and what it owns: direct parent, ultimate parent and subsidiaries, from GLEIF, the UK PSC register (corporate owners only) and SEC Exhibit 21. Each link has its source, confidence and evidence. Organisations only, never individuals. $3 per 1,000 companies.

## Pricing

from $1.65 / 1,000 company families

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Company Ownership & Group Structure

Give it a list of companies and get back who owns each one and what each one owns: the direct parent, the ultimate
parent at the top of the group, and the direct subsidiaries. Every link says where it came from, how sure we are and
the evidence behind it. The data covers organisations only. We never return individuals.

People use it for:

- **KYB and onboarding checks:** see the group a new customer or supplier belongs to before you sign.
- **Selling to groups:** find the parent that holds the budget, or every subsidiary of an account you already have.
- **M\&A and market research:** map a group's UK, French, Norwegian, Singapore and LEI-registered companies.
- **Supplier risk:** spot suppliers that share an ultimate parent, so one failure doesn't hit you twice.

### Quick start

Paste this into the **JSON** tab and press **Start**:

```json
{
  "companies": ["GB-CH-09263424", "Octopus Energy | GB", "923609016 | NO"],
  "include": ["parents", "ultimate", "subsidiaries"],
  "maxSubsidiaries": 200
}
```

Each line can be:

- a registry id: `GB-CH-09263424`, `FR-SIREN-552100554`, `NO-ORG-923609016`, `SG-UEN-201912345K`;
- an LEI, with or without the `LEI-` prefix;
- a company number with its country after a bar: `09263424 | GB`, `552100554 | FR`;
- a company name, best with a country: `Octopus Energy | GB`. We take the best match.

**Default country** fills in the country for lines that don't have one.

### What you get (one row per company)

| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| `name`, `country`, `id`, `status` | The company you asked about |
| `ultimateParentName`, `ultimateParentCountry`, `ultimateParentId` | The top of the group, or empty when the company is the top |
| `familySize` | How many companies we link into the same group (1 when we know of no parent or subsidiary) |
| `directParentName` | The strongest direct owner |
| `subsidiaryCount` | Direct subsidiaries in total, even when `maxSubsidiaries` lists fewer |
| `parents` | Each direct owner: `id`, `name`, `country`, `relation`, `controlBand`, `source`, `confidence`, `evidence` |
| `parentChain` | Parent, grandparent and so on, up to the ultimate parent |
| `ultimateParent` | The ultimate parent with the same fields as a parent |
| `subsidiaries` | Up to `maxSubsidiaries` direct subsidiaries, strongest links first |
| `missingParentReason` | Why there is no parent, when the company told GLEIF: for example "no parent company: controlled by individuals or a state, per GLEIF" or "no consolidating parent" |
| `profileUrl` | The company's page on the Open Company Graph |

An owner company that isn't in our records comes back with its name and country and `id: null`.

`include` lets you leave out parts you don't need. The flat columns (`ultimateParentName`, `ultimateParentCountry`,
`familySize`) are always filled.

### Sources and confidence

| Source | What it adds | Licence | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| GLEIF relationship records (Level 2) | Direct and ultimate accounting parents of LEI holders, worldwide, with the stated percentage | CC0 | 0.99 |
| GLEIF reporting exceptions | The reason a company gives for reporting no parent | CC0 | 0.99 |
| Companies House PSC register | UK companies' owners that are companies themselves, with the control band (for example 75 to 100% of shares) | OGL v3.0 | 0.95 matched by registry number, 0.80 by exact name |
| SEC 10-K Exhibit 21 | Subsidiaries that US listed companies name in their annual report | Public domain | 0.85 |

The ultimate parent follows one parent per level: GLEIF first, then a PSC owner with majority control matched by
number, then Exhibit 21, then a PSC owner matched by name. Where GLEIF states an ultimate parent, that one wins.
Ownership loops in the source data are flagged with `inCycle` and the chain stops there.

### Limits

- **Organisations only.** People who own or control a company are never returned. When GLEIF says a company is owned
  by individuals, the row says "no parent company: controlled by individuals or a state, per GLEIF" and nothing more.
- Coverage is strongest for LEI holders and UK companies. A company with no LEI and no corporate owner on a register we
  read comes back with `familySize` 1.
- PSC owners below majority control are listed in `parents` but don't count as the parent in the chain.
- Ended relationships are left out. You see the group as it stands in the latest files.

### Price

You pay per company returned with its group structure. Not-found and invalid entries are free, and so is a company we hold no parent or subsidiary for.

| Tier | Price per 1,000 companies |
|---|---|
| Starter (free plan and Starter) | $3.00 |
| Scale | $2.25 |
| Business and above | $1.65 |

### Removal requests

If a record about your organisation is wrong, or you want it removed, email apify@locaihost.org with the company's
registry id or name. Removed records stop appearing in every run. You don't need to give a reason. Use the data
lawfully and in line with each source's licence.

# Actor input Schema

## `companies` (type: `array`):

One company per line: a registry id (GB-CH-09263424, FR-SIREN-552100554, NO-ORG-923609016, SG-UEN-201912345K), an LEI, a company number with its country after a bar ("09263424 | GB"), or a name, best with a country ("Octopus Energy | GB").

## `country` (type: `string`):

2-letter country code used for entries without one (bare numbers and names). Empty = names are searched in every country, and bare numbers need a country on their own line.

## `include` (type: `array`):

Which parts of the group to return. All three by default. The flat columns ultimateParentName, ultimateParentCountry and familySize are always filled.

## `maxSubsidiaries` (type: `integer`):

How many direct subsidiaries to list for each company (the full count is always given). 0 to 200.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many companies. 0 = no limit.
