## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Review Insights — Complaints, Trends & Reviews

Get **iOS App Store reviews plus a ready-made insight report** for any app, in any country, in one run. Built for product managers, app marketers, agencies and indie developers who want to know *why* an app's rating moves — not just download a pile of reviews.

### What you get per app and country

- **Rating trend**: average rating of the last 30 days vs the previous 30 days
- **Rating by app version**: spot the release that broke things
- **Top complaint themes** (from 1–2★ reviews): crashes & bugs, login & account, ads, price & subscription, speed, update & design, support, notifications, privacy, missing features — with counts, share and an example
- **Top praise themes** (from 4–5★ reviews)
- **Complaint keywords and phrases**
- **English + French** theme detection (great for Canada and France)
- Optional: every individual review (rating, title, text, version, date, votes) as JSON and CSV files — reviewer names are **not** collected
- A Markdown summary (`REPORT`) in the key-value store, ready to paste into Slack or a doc

### Compare competitors

Add several apps and countries — e.g. your app and three competitors in `us`, `ca`, `gb` — and compare complaint themes side by side.

### Input

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `apps` | `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252` or `389801252` |
| `countries` | `["us", "ca", "fr"]` |
| `maxReviewsPerCountry` | up to 500 (Apple's public feed limit) |
| `includeReviews` | `false` to get only the insight reports |

### Output example (insight item)

```json
{"appName": "Instagram", "country": "ca", "reviewsAnalyzed": 120,
 "averageRating": 2.48, "avgRatingLast30Days": 2.48, "negativeShare": 0.53,
 "topComplaintThemes": [{"theme": "update & design", "mentions": 21, "shareOfGroup": 0.33, "example": "..."}],
 "ratingByVersion": [{"version": "451.0.0", "reviews": 40, "averageRating": 2.1}]}
```

### Pricing

Pay only for what you get: a small fee per review returned and per insight report (app × country). Turn off `includeReviews` to pay for reports only.

### Notes

- Uses Apple's public customer-review feed (most recent reviews, up to 500 per app per country).
- Theme detection is keyword-based (no AI cost, instant, deterministic).
- Not affiliated with Apple. Questions or a missing feature? Open an issue on the Actor page.
