## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### 🚀 What you get

- Full product + variant data (title, price, SKU, availability, images, etc.)
- **Change detection** across runs (new / changed / removed)
- Optional collection mapping
- Configurable max products and polite request delays
- Snapshot storage for historical comparison

***

### 📥 Input

| Field | Default | Description |
|-------|---------|-------------|
| `storeUrls` | required | Shopify storefront URLs or domains |
| `maxProducts` | 1000 | Max **products** per store (not variants) |
| `trackChanges` | true | Compare with previous snapshot |
| `onlyChanges` | false | Output only new/changed/removed items |
| `includeCollections` | false | Map collection handles |
| `snapshotStoreName` | shopify-tracker-snapshots | Named KV store for snapshots |
| `requestDelayMs` | 1000 | Delay between requests |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "storeUrls": ["https://hydrogen-preview.myshopify.com"],
  "maxProducts": 5,
  "trackChanges": false,
  "includeCollections": false,
  "requestDelayMs": 1000
}
```

On that demo store, `maxProducts: 5` still writes on the order of **~140 dataset rows**, because each product can have many variants. Expect **one paid result per variant**, not per product.

***

### 📤 Output

**One dataset item per variant** (or change event) with product details, price, stock status and change flags when tracking is enabled. `maxProducts` caps how many products are fetched; billed rows follow the variant count.

***

### Example output

Sample rows from a real owner run (public scrape data):

### 💰 Pricing (Pay-per-event)

| Event | Price |
|-------|-------|
| Actor start | **$0.0001** per start, charged once per GB of run memory |
| Dataset result | **$0.0009** per variant / change row written |

**Memory:** the default is **512 MB**, which bills a single start event.

Example: Store demo with `maxProducts: 5` → ~140 variant rows ≈ $0.0001 + 140 × $0.0009 ≈ **$0.126**.

***

### ⚙️ Memory limits

- Min: **512 MB**
- Max: **2048 MB**

***

### Notes

- Works on public Shopify storefronts (uses `/products.json` style endpoints).
- Be polite with `requestDelayMs` on large stores.
- Respect the store’s terms of service.

# Actor input Schema

## `storeUrls` (type: `array`):

Shopify storefront URLs or domains, e.g. https://hydrogen-preview.myshopify.com

## `maxProducts` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit of products fetched per store (each product yields one row per variant).

## `trackChanges` (type: `boolean`):

Compare with the previous snapshot (named key-value store) and add change fields.

## `onlyChanges` (type: `boolean`):

With trackChanges, output only new/changed/removed variants.

## `includeCollections` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch /collections.json and add collection handles to each product (extra requests).

## `snapshotStoreName` (type: `string`):

Named key-value store holding previous snapshots. Use different names to keep separate tracking histories.

## `requestDelayMs` (type: `integer`):

Polite delay between requests to the same store.
