## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## New York New Business Filings — New LLC & Corporation Leads

**Get every new New York LLC, corporation, and nonprofit within days of filing — straight from the NY Department of State.**

This Actor reads the official **NY Department of State daily corporation and entity filing feed** (published on data.ny.gov) and returns only the filings that *create* a business: Articles of Organization (LLCs), Certificates of Incorporation (corporations and nonprofits), Applications of Authority (out-of-state companies entering New York), and LP / LLP registrations. Every row gets a 0–100 lead score and flags for filings made through formation services such as LegalZoom or ZenBusiness.

New York forms **about 4,000 new entities a week**. Filter them by **date range, county, entity type, and business-name keyword**, and export to CSV, Excel, or JSON, or pull them through the API.

**Built for:**

- **B2B sales prospecting**: reach NYC and New York State businesses in their first week
- **Insurance agents**: commercial, liability, and workers' comp for new LLCs and corporations
- **Accountants, bookkeepers, and payroll firms**: new entity lists by county
- **Banks and merchant services**: business checking, POS, and lending leads
- **Web, marketing, and signage agencies**: brand-new companies that need everything
- **Market researchers**: business formation trends by county and industry keyword

No login, no proxies, and no scraping of protected pages. Everything comes from the State's official open-data API.

### Pricing

**$3.00 per 1,000 results** ($0.003 per row), plus Apify's tiny per-run start fee.

You only pay for rows delivered to your dataset. Set **Max results** or a **max cost per run** and the Actor stops at your limit.

| Volume | Approx. cost |
|---|---|
| 100 leads | ~$0.30 |
| 1,000 leads | $3.00 |
| A full week statewide (~4,000) | ~$12 |

### Sample output (real data)

Top rows from a Brooklyn + Manhattan (Kings and New York counties) LLC and corporation run, Oct 20–26, 2026, sorted by lead score. That run returned **1,076 new filings**, about $3.23 at this Actor's price.

| leadScore | Filed | Business name | Type | County | ZIP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 95 | 2026-10-25 | FORT TRYON SYSTEMS LLC | Domestic LLC | New York | 12207 |
| 95 | 2026-10-25 | SILVERQ LLC | Domestic LLC | Kings | 11205 |
| 95 | 2026-10-25 | NELKA LLC | Domestic LLC | New York | 11385 |
| 95 | 2026-10-25 | AUREON LIFE SCIENCES INC. | Domestic Business Corp | Kings | 11232 |
| 95 | 2026-10-25 | NORTHGATE 18 LLC | Domestic LLC | Kings | 11223 |
| 95 | 2026-10-25 | SHAINED, LLC | Domestic LLC | Kings | 11230 |

Each row includes: `recordId` (DOS ID), `filingNumber`, `filingType`, `eventDate`, `effectiveDate`, `businessName`, `entityType`, `county`, `processName` and `processAddress` (the service-of-process contact, often the owner), `city`, `zip`, `filerName`, `filerAddress`, `isFiledByFormationService`, `isProcessAgentService`, `jurisdictionOfFormation`, `leadScore`, and `leadScoreReasons`.

| **Entity types** | LLC, corporation, nonprofit, partnership, professional, foreign, domestic |
| **Business name keyword** | e.g. `REALTY`, `CONSTRUCTION`, `DENTAL`, `TRUCKING`, `CAFE` |
| **ZIP codes** | Match on the process or filer address |
| **Exclude formation services** | Drop filings made by LegalZoom, ZenBusiness, Northwest, CSC, CT Corp, and similar services |
| **Monitor mode** | Return only filings not seen in earlier runs. Schedule it daily |
| **Sort by / Minimum lead score / Max results** | Control order, quality, and cost |

#### Example: new Brooklyn and Manhattan LLCs and corporations from the last 7 days

```json
```

#### Example: new construction companies statewide this month

```json
{ "nameContains": "CONSTRUCTION", "startDate": "2026-10-01", "maxResults": 2000 }
```

```json
{ "counties": ["Nassau", "Suffolk"], "daysBack": 3, "onlyNew": true, "monitorKey": "long-island-daily", "excludeFormationServices": true }
```

***

### How the lead score works

Each row starts at 40 points. Points are added for a complete street address, a domestic NY entity, an LLC or business corporation, an owner or the entity itself listed as the process contact, a filing by a person rather than a formation mill, and a New York address. Points are subtracted for commercial registered agents and formation services. `leadScoreReasons` lists every adjustment.

### FAQ

**How fresh is the data?** The NY DOS publishes filings to the open-data feed daily, usually with a 1–2 day lag. Use **Days back: 3** and Monitor mode for a daily feed.

**Are there phone numbers or emails?** No. The State does not publish them. You get the legal name, county, and mailing/process address, which work well for direct mail and for enrichment.

**Why do some rows show "THE LLC" as the process contact?** In New York the LLC can designate itself. The Actor substitutes the business name in that case.

**Can I get amendments, dissolutions, or biennial statements?** Yes. Turn on **Include all filing types**.

**Is this legal?** Yes. This is public government data published by New York State under its open-data program. Follow CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and local rules when you contact businesses.
