## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## New Trucking Companies: FMCSA new carrier leads (new USDOT numbers)

Get a fresh list of **new trucking companies** that just registered with the **Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)**: every new **USDOT number** added in the last day, week or month, with the **business name, DBA, MC number, fleet size (power units and drivers), cargo carried, interstate or intrastate operation, business address and business phone**.

About **9,000 new motor carriers register with FMCSA every month**. This Actor turns the official US DOT open data into a clean **new carrier list** you can filter by state, ZIP, fleet size, cargo and for-hire status, then download as Excel, CSV or JSON, or schedule as a daily **new DOT number feed**.

**Free to try:** Apify's free plan ($5/month in credit, no card needed) covers about **3,300 records** a month.
**Price:** $1.50 per 1,000 results, below typical FMCSA tools in the Store.

No browser, no proxies, no login, no API key. Data comes straight from the FMCSA Company Census File on data.transportation.gov (US DOT's official open-data portal), so runs take seconds.

### What's in the new trucking companies list?

- Business name, DBA and entity type
- USDOT number, MC docket, date added
- Power units, trucks, drivers, CDL drivers
- Cargo carried, hazmat, for-hire classification
- Business address, city, state, ZIP and business phone

**Source:** FMCSA Company Census File, US DOT open data (data.transportation.gov).\
**How fresh is it?** FMCSA updates the Company Census File on US DOT open data daily; new carriers usually appear a day or two after they register.

- **Fuel card, factoring, ELD, dispatch and truck-financing sales teams.**
- **Truck dealers, trailer leasing, tire and repair shops** looking for brand-new fleets near them.
- **Freight brokers** building a carrier bench, and **researchers** tracking trucking formation by state.

### Input

| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| `withinDays` | Carriers added in the last N days | 7 |
| `dateFrom` / `dateTo` | Exact window | none |
| `states` | Business-address states, e.g. `TX`, `FL` | all |

Example: new for-hire interstate carriers in Texas this week:

```json
{ "states": ["TX"], "withinDays": 7, "operation": "interstate", "forHireOnly": true }
```

Example: new reefer fleets with 2+ trucks anywhere in the US this month:

```json
{ "withinDays": 30, "cargoTypes": ["refrigerated"], "minPowerUnits": 2, "maxResults": 5000 }
```

### Privacy by design

- **Businesses only.** Carriers registered under a personal name (owner-operators without an LLC, Inc or similar) are always left out, so no individual's name is returned.
- **No officer names, emails or cell phones** are requested from the source.
- **Apartment-style addresses are withheld** (city, state and ZIP stay).

### Tips

- FMCSA posts new registrations with a lag of a day or two. For a daily feed, schedule the Actor every morning with `withinDays: 3` and dedupe on `dotNumber`.
- New carriers often get their MC number a few weeks after the USDOT number. Use `forHireOnly` to focus on carriers that will need cargo and liability insurance.
- `RUN_SUMMARY` in the key-value store shows how many records were scanned and how many individuals were skipped.

Data: FMCSA Company Census File (US DOT open data, public domain). Not affiliated with or endorsed by FMCSA or US DOT. Always verify a carrier on SAFER before acting.

### Common questions about the new trucking companies list

**How do I get the new trucking companies list without coding?** Press **Try for free**, adjust the filters (or keep the defaults), press **Start**, then open the **Storage** tab and export the results as Excel, CSV or JSON. A run usually finishes in seconds.

**How much does it cost?** Free to try: Apify's free plan ($5/month credit, no credit card) covers about 3,300 records a month. After that it is $1.50 per 1,000 results (pay per result), plus a fraction of a cent per run. You only pay for rows you get.

**Can I get new records automatically every day or week?** Yes. Save your filters as a task and add a **Schedule** (daily or weekly). Connect Google Sheets, Slack, email, Zapier, Make or n8n under **Integrations** to receive each new batch.

**Can I call it from code or an AI agent?** Yes. Use the Apify API or the Python/JavaScript clients with the Actor ID shown above, or connect it to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor through the Apify MCP server.

**Does it include personal data?** The output is business records (company names, business addresses and, where the source publishes them, business phone numbers) from an official public dataset. Records for individual people are left out where the source allows.
