## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## PMRA Pest Control Registrant Inspections – Canada

### What it does

Reads Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) **Pest Control Product Registrant Inspections** open data and returns one item per inspection (261 inspections, June 2016 to February 2023). Each item has the company inspected, city, province/state and country, end date, the Compliant / Non-compliant rating, the measures taken, and a list of observations with the Pest Control Products Act reference in English and French.

The source CSV has one row per observation; the Actor groups them into one inspection each. It makes one download per run from open.canada.ca.

### Who it's for

Compliance and regulatory-affairs teams, pesticide and biocide suppliers checking partners, distributors, insurers, journalists and researchers.

### Input

| Key | Notes |
|---|---|
| `keyword` | company name contains |
| `rating` | `any` (default), `compliant`, `nonCompliant` |
| `province` | exact code, e.g. `ON`, `QC`, `OH` |
| `country` | exact name, e.g. `Canada` |
| `dateFrom` / `dateTo` | inspection end date, `YYYY-MM-DD` |
| `legislativeReference` | an observation cites this, e.g. `6(2)` |
| `maxItems` | default 100, at most 50,000 |

Example: `{"rating": "nonCompliant", "province": "QC"}`

### Output

`referenceNumber`, `inspectionEndDate`, `inspectionYear`, `regulatedParty`, `regulatedPartyWithheld`, `city`, `province`, `country`, `rating`, `compliant`, `outcome`, `measuresTaken`, `correctiveActionRequired`, `observationCount`, `observations`, `lookupUrl`, `source`, `licence`.

### Privacy

- The output is reduced, not anonymous: personal fields are dropped, but the remaining records are still public data about named organisations.
- **Dropped:** the three street lines and the postal code. Only city, province/state and country are kept.
- The source has no contact names, emails or phones.
- A regulated-party name that looks like an individual person (for example a given name, middle initial and surname with no company suffix) is blanked, with `regulatedPartyWithheld: true`. On the Oct 16, 2026 data this was 1 of 261 inspections ("KAI R. SPANGENBERG EFTF I/S", a Danish sole-proprietor business). Firm names made of surnames, such as "GROULX & ROBERTSON", are kept.

### Licence and terms

- **Licence:** [Open Government Licence – Canada](https://open.canada.ca/en/open-government-licence-canada), which allows use "including for commercial purposes" with attribution. Every item carries the attribution.
- **Automated access:** the file is an open.canada.ca resource download. open.canada.ca robots.txt allows it with `Crawl-delay: 20`; the Actor makes a single request. No terms were found that ban automated download of open data.
- Independent; not endorsed by Health Canada.

### Pricing

**Price: $0.003 per result, no start fee** (pay per event, one result = one inspection). The full list (261 inspections) costs about $0.78.

### Limits

- The published file is dated 2023-03-20 and covers inspections up to February 2023. Health Canada has not posted a newer export on open.canada.ca; its own search page (`lookupUrl`) may be more current.
- This is inspection data, not the list of registered products. A rating applies to the inspection, not to the company as a whole.
- Observations are passed through as published; English text comes from the source's English column.
