## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## Golden Eagle Coins Scraper — Bullion & Coin Prices

Scrape **[GoldenEagleCoin.com](https://www.goldeneaglecoin.com)** — one of the oldest US precious-metals dealers (est. 1974) — for live bullion and numismatic coin prices, including the full **payment-method pricing** (Wire/Check vs Bitcoin vs Credit Card/PayPal) and **quantity volume-discount tiers** that most price trackers miss.

### What it does

- **Search mode** — enter any queries (`silver eagle`, `gold buffalo`, `morgan dollar`, `krugerrand`) and get the top matching products from the site's search API.
- **Category mode** — point it at any category URL (e.g. `/buy-silver/american-silver-eagles/silver-eagles`) and it scrapes every product card **including the full Qty × payment-method pricing table**. Hub pages like `/buy-gold` are descended into automatically.
- Both modes can be combined; results are de-duplicated by product ID.

### Output fields

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `productId` | Golden Eagle product ID |
| `title` | Product name |
| `metal` | Gold / Silver / Platinum / Palladium / Copper |
| `productType` | Coin / Bar / Round / Note |
| `weight` | Weight in troy ounces (derived from title) |
| `purity` | Fineness where stated (e.g. `.999`, `22k`) |
| `price`, `priceWireCheck` | Base wire/check price (USD) |
| `priceBitcoin` | Bitcoin payment price |
| `priceCcPaypal` | Credit card / PayPal price |
| `priceAsLowAs` | Lowest volume-tier price (category mode) |
| `tierPricing` | Array of `{quantity, wireCheck, bitcoin, ccPaypal}` volume tiers |
| `priceFormula` | Dealer pricing formula vs spot (e.g. `$SILVER+5.25`, search mode) |
| `availability`, `inStock` | Stock status |
| `image`, `url` | Product image and page URL |

- Numismatic inventory monitoring (certified, proof, key-date coins)

### Input example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["gold buffalo"],
  "maxResults": 100,
  "inStockOnly": false
}
```

No proxy needed — the site serves its SSR pages and search API openly.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Search terms to look up on GoldenEagleCoin.com (e.g. 'silver eagle', 'gold buffalo', 'morgan dollar', 'krugerrand'). Each query returns up to 20 top-matching products via the site's search API.

## `categoryUrls` (type: `array`):

Golden Eagle Coins category pages to crawl (e.g. https://www.goldeneaglecoin.com/buy-silver/american-silver-eagles/silver-eagles). Hub pages like /buy-gold are descended into automatically. Category pages include full quantity/payment-tier pricing tables.

## `metal` (type: `string`):

Filter results by metal.

## `productType` (type: `string`):

Filter results by product type.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum total number of products to scrape across all queries and categories.
