## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## Kitco Bullion Scraper — Gold & Silver Prices with Premium Over Spot

Scrape live product data from [Kitco](https://online.kitco.com), one of the world's best-known precious-metals dealers. Search any bullion product or scrape whole categories and get clean, structured JSON: prices, metal, weight, purity, availability — plus the **live premium over spot** computed from Kitco's own real-time ask prices.

### What you get

Per product:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `sku` | Kitco product SKU (e.g. `3000N`) |
| `title` | Product name |
| `metal` | Gold / Silver / Platinum / Palladium / Rhodium |
| `productType` | Coin / Bar / Round / Note / Grain / Accessory |
| `weight` | Metal weight in troy ounces (parsed from title, grams & kilos converted) |
| `purity` | Fineness (e.g. `.9999`, `.9167`) |
| `price` | Current price in USD |
| `originalPrice` | Pre-sale price when the product is discounted |
| `onSale` | Whether a reduced price is active |
| `premiumOverSpot` | Dollar premium vs. live melt value (price − spot × weight) |
| `premiumPercent` | Premium as a percent of melt value |
| `spotPriceUsed` | Live Kitco spot ask price (USD/oz) used for the calculation |
| `availability` | In Stock / Call to Order / Out of Stock |
| `image`, `url` | Product image and page link |
| `source` | `search` or `category` |

### Why premium over spot matters

Bullion products trade at a markup over the metal's melt value. Comparing premiums — not sticker prices — is how stackers and dealers find the cheapest ounces. This scraper computes it for every product using Kitco's own live spot ask prices, so you can rank products by real cost per ounce.

### Input

```json
{
    "searchQueries": ["gold eagle", "10 oz silver bar"],
    "categories": ["american-silver-eagle-coins", "canadian-gold-maple-leaf-coins"],
    "metal": "Any",
    "productType": "Any",
    "maxResults": 100
}
```

- **searchQueries** — keyword search via Kitco's product search API.
- **categories** — category slugs or full URLs (e.g. `american-gold-eagle-coins`, `american-gold-buffalo-coins`, `canadian-silver-maple-leaf-coins`, `australian-gold-kangaroos-coins`, `deals`). Category pages add availability and sale pricing.
- Optional filters: `metal`, `productType`, `minPrice`, `maxPrice`.

### Example output

```json
{
    "sku": "3000N",
    "title": "1 oz Gold American Eagle Coin (mid 2021 and newer)",
    "metal": "Gold",
    "productType": "Coin",
    "weight": 1,
    "purity": ".9167",
    "price": 4227.2,
    "currency": "USD",
    "premiumOverSpot": 174.7,
    "premiumPercent": 4.3,
    "spotPriceUsed": 4052.5,
    "availability": "In Stock",
    "url": "https://online.kitco.com/buy/3000N",
    "source": "search"
}
```

### Use cases

- **Premium tracking** — monitor gold/silver eagle & maple premiums over time.
- **Dealer comparison** — benchmark Kitco premiums against other dealers.
- **Deal alerts** — watch the `deals` category for discounted bullion.
- **Market research** — track availability and pricing of major sovereign coins.

### Notes

- Results are deduplicated by SKU across queries and categories.
- No proxy required — the actor talks to Kitco's public site and open search API directly.
- This actor scrapes only publicly available product listings.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Search terms to look up on Kitco (e.g. 'gold eagle', 'silver maple', '10 oz bar', 'krugerrand'). Uses Kitco's own product search API.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Kitco category slugs or full URLs to scrape (e.g. 'american-gold-eagle-coins', 'american-silver-eagle-coins', 'canadian-gold-maple-leaf-coins', 'canadian-silver-maple-leaf-coins', 'american-gold-buffalo-coins', 'australian-gold-kangaroos-coins', 'deals', or 'https://online.kitco.com/gold-bars'). Category pages include availability and sale prices.

## `metal` (type: `string`):

Filter results by metal.

## `productType` (type: `string`):

Filter results by product type.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of products to scrape per search query / category.

## `minPrice` (type: `number`):

Filter: only return products at or above this price (USD).

## `maxPrice` (type: `number`):

Filter: only return products at or below this price (USD).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. Kitco works without proxies (SSR HTML + open JSON search API return 200 to a plain browser UA).
