## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Movoto Scraper

Scrape real estate listings from [Movoto.com](https://www.movoto.com), one of the largest US home-search portals. Fast and reliable — reads Movoto's own embedded listing data (no headless browser needed) and paginates through every result page.

### What it extracts

For each property listing:

- **address** (full formatted address) and **streetAddress**
- **price** (list price)
- **beds**, **baths**
- **sqft** (living area) and **lotSize**
- **propertyType** (e.g. Single Family, Condo, Townhouse)
- **status** (Active, Pending, etc.)
- **yearBuilt**
- **city**, **state**, **zip**, **county**, **neighborhood**
- **latitude**, **longitude**
- **hoaFee**, **garage**, **daysOnMarket**, **listDate**
- **mlsNumber**, **listingAgent**, **listingOffice**
- **photoUrl** (primary photo), **photoCount**
- **url** (link to the Movoto listing page)

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|-------|------|-------------|
| `location` | string | City to search as a Movoto slug like `seattle-wa`, `austin-tx`, `miami-fl`, or a 5-digit zip like `98101`. Also accepts `"Seattle, WA"` (auto-normalized). Use this **or** Search URLs. |
| `searchUrls` | array | Full Movoto.com search/listing URLs (city pages or filtered searches). Use for advanced filters. |
| `maxListings` | integer | Max total listings to scrape (default 100, `0` = unlimited). Movoto returns ~50 per page. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | Proxy settings. Residential proxy is strongly recommended (Movoto uses PerimeterX bot protection). Defaults to Apify Residential. |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "location": "seattle-wa",
  "maxListings": 100,
  "proxyConfiguration": { "useApifyProxy": true, "apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"] }
}
```

Or with an explicit search URL:

```json
{
  "searchUrls": [{ "url": "https://www.movoto.com/austin-tx/" }],
  "maxListings": 200
}
```

### Output

Each result is pushed to the dataset as a JSON object. Example:

```json
{
  "address": "5911 C 21st Ave SW Seattle, WA 98106",
  "price": 1499999,
  "beds": 4,
  "baths": 3,
  "sqft": 3681,
  "lotSize": 7344,
  "propertyType": "Residential - Single Family",
  "status": "Active",
  "yearBuilt": 2018,
  "city": "Seattle",
  "state": "WA",
  "zip": "98106",
  "county": "King County",
  "latitude": 47.54969,
  "longitude": -122.360792,
  "mlsNumber": "2567453",
  "photoUrl": "https://pi.movoto.com/p/501/2567453_0_2MIiAQ_p.webp",
  "url": "https://www.movoto.com/seattle-wa/5911c-21st-ave-sw-seattle-wa-98106-501_2567453/"
}
```

### How it works

The actor requests Movoto search pages and parses the site's embedded `__INITIAL_STATE__` JSON (the same data the page renders from), then walks pagination (`/p-2/`, `/p-3/`, …) until it reaches `maxListings` or the last page. It runs over Apify Residential proxy to pass Movoto's bot protection.

### Notes

- Real-estate inventory changes constantly; re-run to refresh.
- Use a residential proxy for reliable results.
- Data is sourced from public Movoto listing pages. Respect Movoto's Terms of Service and use responsibly.

# Actor input Schema

## `location` (type: `string`):

City to search as a Movoto slug like 'seattle-wa', 'austin-tx', 'miami-fl', or a 5-digit zip like '98101'. The scraper builds the search URL automatically. Use this OR Search URLs below.

## `searchUrls` (type: `array`):

Full Movoto.com search/listing URLs to scrape (e.g. a city page or a filtered search). Use this for advanced filters. Leave empty if using Location above.

## `maxListings` (type: `integer`):

Maximum total number of property listings to scrape across all searches. Movoto returns ~50 listings per page. Set to 0 for unlimited (bounded by a time guard).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. Movoto has PerimeterX bot protection, so residential proxy is strongly recommended.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "location": "seattle-wa",
  "searchUrls": [
    {
    }
  ],
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true,
    "apifyProxyGroups": [
      "RESIDENTIAL"
    ]
  }
