## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Telegram Channel Posts Scraper (No Login)

Pull posts from any **public Telegram channel**. No Telegram account, phone number or API keys needed.

### What you get for each post

- **Post basics:** text, date, post URL, hashtags and links.
- **Engagement:** views, each reaction with its count, paid Star reactions, and two calculated rates:
  - `engagementRate`: reactions ÷ views.
  - `viewsPerSubscriber`: how far the post reached compared with the channel's size.
- **Media:** media type (photo, video, document, poll, audio), photo URLs, video URL and link-preview URL.
- **Forwards:** the forwarded-from channel name and link.
- **Channel:** title and subscriber count on every row, so you can compare channels in one sheet.

### Why this one

- **No login and no session files.** Many Telegram scrapers need your phone number and an MTProto session, which risks your account. This one reads Telegram's own public web preview (`t.me/s/<channel>`).
- **Search inside a channel.** Fill in `searchTerm` to get only matching posts, using Telegram's own channel search.
- **Stop at a date.** Fill in `postedAfter` to pull only recent posts. This keeps runs fast and cheap for daily monitoring.
- **Fails fast when a channel can't be read.** Private channels, or channels with web preview turned off, are skipped and named in the log. You're never charged for empty rows.

### Common uses

- Crypto and trading signal research.
- Brand and news monitoring.
- Tracking competitor channels.
- Collecting datasets for AI training or sentiment analysis.
- Researching disinformation.
- Finding which post formats get the most views.

### Input

```json
{
  "channels": ["durov", "https://t.me/telegram"],
  "maxPostsPerChannel": 500,
  "postedAfter": "2026-01-01",
  "searchTerm": "update"
}
```

### Limits

- Only public channels with web preview enabled can be read. Private groups and member lists are not supported, by design.
- Media URLs come from Telegram's CDN and expire after a while, so download files you need soon after the run.
- Telegram's web view shows rounded counts, such as 1.83M views.

### Responsible use

This actor only reads content that channel owners chose to publish openly on the web. You are responsible for following Telegram's terms and the laws that apply to how you use the data, such as GDPR if posts contain personal data.
