## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store & Google Play Reviews Scraper

Get the **reviews of any iPhone or Android app** in one clean format: star rating, title, text,
author name, date, app version, helpful votes and **developer replies**. Apple App Store and Google
Play in one actor, for any country, newest or most helpful first, optionally only since a date.

- **Both stores, one schema.** Paste Apple ids (`389801252`), Google package names
  (`com.spotify.music`) or store URLs, mixed in one list.
- **No logins, no browser.** Apple reviews come from Apple's public customer-reviews feed (or, when
  the feed answers empty, the app's App Store page) and app details from the iTunes lookup API; Google Play reviews from the same endpoint the Play Store
  website loads them from. Runs are fast and cheap.
- **Only new reviews.** Set *Reviews since* and schedule the actor daily or weekly to track what
  users are saying after each release.

### Who uses this

- **Product and app teams:** follow feedback after each release, by version.
- **Customer support:** catch angry reviews and see which ones got a developer reply.
- **Market research:** compare your app's reviews with competitors', by country.
- **AI and data teams:** sentiment analysis, topic clustering, LLM summaries of user feedback.

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Apps | `389801252`, `https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/instagram/id389801252`, `com.spotify.music` | Apple and Google can be mixed |
| Country | `us` | Two-letter store country; an Apple URL's country wins for that app |
| Language (Google Play) | `en` | Google returns reviews in this language |
| Max reviews per app | `100` | Apple's feed stops at 500 per app and country |
| Sort by | `newest` | Or `helpful` |
| Reviews since | `2026-10-01` | Optional |

### Output (one dataset item per review)

```json
{
  "store": "google",
  "appId": "com.spotify.music",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "reviewId": "9c6a81d7-971c-4fc4-827c-2ca67ffd80b7",
  "rating": 3,
  "title": null,
  "text": "I don't know why but it's been cutting off the first 10, sometimes 20 seconds of every song I play...",
  "userName": "ly",
  "date": "2026-10-22T05:40:29.495Z",
  "appVersion": "9.1.92.3058",
  "helpfulCount": 0,
  "developerReply": { "text": "Hi. Thanks for sharing. You can go to community.spotify.com/...", "date": "2026-10-22T16:10:21.876Z" },
  "country": "us",
  "language": "en",
  "reviewUrl": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music&reviewId=9c6a81d7-971c-4fc4-827c-2ca67ffd80b7",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-23T06:28:18.595Z"
}
```

Apple reviews have a `title` and `language` is `null` (the feed is per country). Reviews from
Apple's feed have no `developerReply` (the feed doesn't include replies); reviews taken from the
app page have replies but no `appVersion` or `helpfulCount`. Their `reviewUrl` is the app's reviews page, since
Apple has no per-review link. Google Play reviews have no title. Author names are shown as the
stores publish them.

The run's **SUMMARY** record (key-value store) lists, for each input, the store, the app name, how
many reviews were returned, any error, and for Apple apps the `source` (`feed` or `app page`) with
a `warning` when the feed skipped pages.

### Pricing

Pay per event: charged per **review** returned. Apps that aren't found cost nothing beyond Apify's
actor start.

### Limits

- **Apple:** the public feed serves the latest 500 reviews per app and country (10 pages of 50),
  sorted by most recent or most helpful. For more history, run several countries. The feed is
  unreliable: it often answers with an empty page. Empty pages are retried once and skipped (the
  SUMMARY lists them); when the feed returns nothing at all, the actor returns the roughly 10
  featured reviews shown on the app's App Store page instead, and says so in the SUMMARY.
- **Google Play:** reviews come from the Play Store's own web endpoint, which isn't a documented
  API; if Google changes it, the run reports an error instead of returning wrong data.

### Notes

Reviews are published by the stores for public display. This actor isn't affiliated with Apple or
Google.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Apple App Store ids ("389801252") or apps.apple.com URLs, and Google Play package names ("com.spotify.music") or play.google.com URLs. Both stores can be mixed in one run.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Two-letter store country, e.g. "us", "gb", "de". Reviews differ by country. An apps.apple.com URL with a country in its path (/gb/app/...) overrides this for that app.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language code for Google Play reviews, e.g. "en", "de", "pt-BR". Google returns reviews written in this language. The App Store feed is per country only.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit of reviews returned for each app. Apple's public feed serves at most 500 reviews per app and country (10 pages of 50); Google Play has no such limit.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Newest reviews first, or the ones most voted helpful.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Only reviews posted on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD). With newest-first sorting the run stops reading an app once it reaches older reviews. Leave empty for all.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "apps": [
    "389801252",
    "com.spotify.music"
  ],
  "country": "us",
  "language": "en",
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 100,
  "sort": "newest"
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per review: store, app, rating, title, text, author, date, app version, helpful votes and developer reply.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Which store and app name were found for each input, how many reviews were returned, and any errors.
