## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Online businesses for sale data from Empire Flippers and QuietLight

This Actor collects **online businesses for sale** from two public marketplaces, Empire Flippers and QuietLight, and returns one clean, structured feed: asking price, revenue, profit, valuation multiple, business model, age and status, with a link back to every original listing. Use it to track acquisition deal flow, build valuation comps, or get alerted when new listings appear. It is built and maintained by [MainStreetKeys](https://www.mainstreetkeys.com), a search and free valuation site for businesses for sale.

### What data you get

Each record is one listing with these fields (null when the marketplace does not publish the value):

- `source`, `listingId`, `url`: marketplace, its listing ID, and the link to the original page
- `title`, `niche`, `businessModel`, `monetization`: what the business is and how it earns (Amazon FBA, SaaS, ecommerce, content, KDP and more)
- `askingPrice`, `currency`: the published asking price
- `annualRevenue`, `annualProfit`, `profitType`: published yearly revenue and profit, with the profit basis (for example SDE)
- `multiple`, `multipleBasis`: the published valuation multiple
- `businessAgeYears`, `firstMonetizedAt`, `dateListed`: age and listing date where published
- `sbaPreQualified`, `status`: SBA flag where published, and available or sold
- `scrapedAt`: when the record was collected

Descriptions, photos and seller contact details are not collected.

### How to scrape online businesses for sale

1. Pick the sources (both are selected by default).
2. Set **Max items** to cap how many listings you get, and pay for.
3. Optionally set a price range, include sold listings for comps, or turn on **Only new listings** and schedule the Actor to get a daily feed of new deals.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "sources": ["quietlight", "empireflippers"],
  "maxItems": 20,
  "minPrice": 100000,
  "maxPrice": 1000000,
  "onlyNew": false
}
```

#### Output example

From a run on Oct 30, 2026 (one record):

```json
{
  "source": "empireflippers",
  "listingId": "98217",
  "title": "$14.9K Per Month Amazon KDP Business in the Children Niche",
  "businessModel": "Amazon KDP",
  "askingPrice": 338897,
  "currency": "USD",
  "annualRevenue": 178255,
  "annualProfit": 130346,
  "profitType": "SDE",
  "multiple": 2.6,
  "businessAgeYears": 2.7,
  "status": "available",
  "dateListed": "2026-10-23",
  "url": "https://empireflippers.com/listing/98217/",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-30T12:00:24+00:00"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.01 per run start** plus **$0.005 per listing** returned. For example, 100 listings cost about $0.51. Set Max items to cap your cost.

### FAQ

#### Is it legal to scrape these listings?

The Actor collects only factual listing data that the marketplaces publish openly, such as price and revenue, and links every record back to its source. It reads pages that the sites' robots.txt files allow, uses Empire Flippers' public listings endpoint, and does not log in or get around bot protection. It skips descriptions and photos. Check that your own use fits the sites' terms.

#### How fresh is the data?

Each run fetches live data. Schedule it daily with **Only new listings** turned on to get only listings you have not seen before.

#### How many listings can I get?

Up to the number currently published on the two marketplaces. In one Oct 30, 2026 run that was 279 available listings (194 Empire Flippers, 85 QuietLight). Max items defaults to 100.

#### Some fields are empty. Why?

Marketplaces publish different fields. QuietLight often omits asking price and multiple, for example, so those come back as null.

#### Can I use it in my app or with AI agents?

Yes. Call it through the Apify API, export to CSV, JSON or Excel, or connect it to AI agents through the Apify MCP server.

#### Where can I search these listings by chat?

At [MainStreetKeys](https://www.mainstreetkeys.com), which also offers saved searches and daily email alerts.
