## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Price & Stock Change Monitor

Watch any public Shopify store and get **only what changed** since the last run: price drops, price increases, new products, removed products, sold-out and back-in-stock variants. No login, no proxy, no browser. It reads each store's public `/products.json`, so runs are fast and cheap.

### How it works

1. Add one or more Shopify store URLs and schedule the Actor (daily is typical).
2. The first run saves a baseline of every variant (price and availability).
3. Every later run compares against the previous snapshot and outputs just the differences, with the change in percent.

### Input

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `stores` | Store home URLs, e.g. `https://www.allbirds.com` |
| `minPriceChangePercent` | Ignore price moves smaller than this (default 0) |
| `maxPagesPerStore` | Pages of 250 products to read per store (default 20) |

### Output (dataset)

Each change is one row: `store`, `at`, change `type` (`price_drop`, `price_increase`, `new_product`, `removed`, `sold_out`, `back_in_stock`), product and variant details, old and new price, and the change in percent. The first run outputs one `baseline` row per store; a store that is not a public Shopify store outputs an `error` row.

### Good for

Competitor price tracking, MAP/price-war alerts, restock alerts, spotting new launches, and feeding changes to Slack, Sheets or webhooks through Apify integrations.

### Limits

Works on stores that leave `/products.json` public (most do). Stores that block it return an error row. Snapshots are kept per Apify account in the named store `shopify-monitor-snapshots`.

### Quick start (2 minutes)

1. Click **Try for free**, keep the prefilled store (or paste your competitors' Shopify URLs), and run it. The first run saves a baseline.
2. Open **Schedules**, add a daily schedule for the same input.
3. Open **Integrations**, add a Slack, email, Google Sheets or webhook integration on "Run succeeded" to get alerts.

### Example output row

```json
{
  "store": "https://www.allbirds.com",
  "type": "price_drop",
  "variantId": "1234567890",
  "title": "Tree Runner - Men 9 / Grey",
  "url": "https://www.allbirds.com/products/mens-tree-runners",
  "oldPrice": 98,
  "price": 79,
  "changePercent": -19.4,
  "at": "2026-10-21T06:00:12.000Z"
}
```

(Illustrative values; field names match the real output.)

### FAQ

**How much does it cost?** Pay per event: $0.003 per store checked and $0.005 per change found. Watching 10 stores daily with a handful of changes costs a few cents a day.

**Do I need proxies or a login?** No. It reads each store's public `/products.json`.

**A store returns an error row. Why?** Some merchants block `/products.json` or are not on Shopify. That store is skipped and the rest still run.

**Can I only get big price moves?** Yes, set `minPriceChangePercent` (for example 5).

# Actor input Schema

## `stores` (type: `array`):

Shopify store home URLs, e.g. https://www.allbirds.com

## `minPriceChangePercent` (type: `integer`):

Ignore price changes smaller than this.

## `maxPagesPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Each page is up to 250 products.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "stores": [
    "https://www.allbirds.com"
  ],
  "minPriceChangePercent": 0,
  "maxPagesPerStore": 20
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `changes` (type: `string`):

One item per change since the last run (price_drop, price_increase, new_product, removed, sold_out, back_in_stock). The first run per store saves a baseline item.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "stores": [
        "https://www.allbirds.com"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("majjigi_sharath/shopify-price-change-monitor").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
