## Pricing

from $3.00 / 1,000 legislation acts

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## New Legislation Monitor: Laws in UK, EU, US, Japan

New Legislation Monitor is a legislation tracker for new laws and regulations in five jurisdictions. It reads the official sources: legislation.gov.uk, EUR-Lex, the US Federal Register, Japan's e-Gov Law Search and Spain's BOE. It returns one row per new act in one schema.

Each row gives the jurisdiction, act type, official number, title, dates and the official link. The Actor returns metadata only. It does not download the full text.

Use it for regulatory change monitoring, compliance alerts, legal research and policy tracking. It also suits AI agents that need a daily feed of new legislation.

Schedule it daily with monitor mode on. Each run then returns only acts you have not seen before.

### New legislation covered: five jurisdictions

| Jurisdiction | Official source | What one row means | Rows for 21 Sep to 21 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | legislation.gov.uk new legislation feed | One new Act or statutory instrument (UK, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) | 119 |
| European Union | EUR-Lex (Publications Office CELLAR) | One legal act published in the Official Journal: regulation, directive, decision, recommendation | 261 |
| United States | Federal Register API | One final rule or presidential document: executive order, proclamation, memorandum | 274 |
| Japan | e-Gov Law Search API | One new law: Act, cabinet order, ministerial ordinance or rule | 8 |
| Spain | BOE open data API, section I | One general provision: ley, real decreto, orden, resolución and similar | 119 |

Counts change every day. They were counted on 21 October 2026.

Corrigenda and correction slips are left out for the UK and the EU. The US and Spain publish corrections as separate notices. The Actor keeps them with the type `Correction`, so you can filter them out.

}
```
Some fields stay empty because a source does not publish them:
- `issuer` is empty for the UK and Japan.
- `effectiveDate` comes from the EU, the US and Japan only.
- `summary` comes from the UK and the US only.
- `number` is empty for Spanish resolutions, which have no number.
The Actor never guesses a missing value.
### New legislation: how to monitor it
1. Pick the jurisdictions. Leave the list empty for all five.
2. Set the date window. The default is the last 7 days.
3. Add a keyword watchlist. Example: `tax`, `impuesto`, `artificial intelligence`, `個人情報`.
4. Optional: keep only some act types. Example: `Act`, `Regulation`, `Directive`, `Royal decree`.
5. Turn on **Monitor mode** and schedule the Actor daily. Each run returns only new acts.
6. Send the output to Google Sheets, Slack, email or your own system through Apify integrations.
#### Keyword matching
Keywords search the title, number, summary, subjects and issuer. Titles stay in the source language. Use English keywords for the UK, EU and US, Spanish for Spain and Japanese for Japan.
English and Spanish keywords match whole words. They ignore case and accents, so `regulacion` matches "regulación". Japanese keywords match anywhere in the text.
#### Monitor mode
Monitor mode remembers which acts it returned before. Use a different **Monitor state key** for each watchlist.
#### Japan timing
e-Gov adds a new law some days or weeks after promulgation. The Actor filters Japan by promulgation date. Use 30 days back or more when you watch Japan. Monitor mode then returns each law once, when it first appears.
### New legislation input options
| Option | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Jurisdictions | All five | uk, eu, us, jp, es |
| Days back | 7 | Acts published in this many days before the end date |
| Start date, End date | Empty | Optional fixed window, YYYY-MM-DD |
| Keyword watchlist | None | Keep only matching acts |
| Document types | None | Keep only acts whose type contains one of these words |
| Monitor mode | Off | Return only acts not returned before |
| Monitor state key | `default` | Name of the monitor memory |
| Maximum acts | 100 | Stop after this many acts, newest first. Set 0 for no limit |
### New legislation pricing
This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing. These are the prices on 21 October 2026:
| Event | Price (USD) |
|---|---|
| Actor start, one per GB of memory (the default 256 MB counts as one) | $0.02 |
| Each legal act saved to your dataset | $0.003 ($3 per 1,000) |
Acts skipped by your filters or by monitor mode cost nothing. Check the Pricing tab for the current prices.
### New legislation sources and licences
- legislation.gov.uk: Open Government Licence v3.0.
- EUR-Lex and CELLAR: reuse is allowed when the source is acknowledged.
- Federal Register: US government work in the public domain.
- e-Gov Law Search: published by Japan's Digital Agency for reuse.
- BOE: commercial and non-commercial reuse is allowed with the credit line "Fuente de los datos: Agencia Estatal Boletín Oficial del Estado".
- Each record carries its credit line in `sourceAttribution`.
- The Actor reads public APIs and feeds that need no login. It keeps the pace that each source asks for. For Spain it reads section I only, which holds rules of general application. It skips documents that the BOE has withdrawn from indexing.
- Always check the official text before you act on a record.
### New legislation run time
A 7-day run of all five jurisdictions takes about 30 seconds. A 30-day run takes about two minutes. Most of the time goes to legislation.gov.uk, which asks for 5 seconds between requests.
### New legislation FAQ
#### Does it include bills or draft laws?
No. It covers acts that have been made and published. US proposed rules are left out. UK draft statutory instruments appear only when legislation.gov.uk publishes them in its new legislation feed.
#### Does it include amending acts?
Yes, for the UK, EU, US and Spain. Each amending act is a new act in those sources. e-Gov lists amending acts inside the law they amend, so for Japan you get new laws only.
#### Can I get the full text?
No. The Actor returns metadata and the official link. Open the link for the full text.
#### Can I get older acts?
Yes. Set a start date in the past and set maximum acts to 0. One year of all five jurisdictions is about 9,000 acts (estimate from the 30-day counts).
#### Can an AI agent use it?
Yes. Agents can find and run it through the Apify MCP server or the Apify API. The output uses one schema for all jurisdictions.
# Actor input Schema
## `jurisdictions` (type: `array`):
Which official legislation sources to read. Leave empty for all five.
## `daysBack` (type: `integer`):
Return acts published in this many days before the end date. Ignored when you set a start date. Japan adds new laws to e-Gov some days or weeks after promulgation, so use 30 or more for Japan.
## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):
Optional. First publication date to include, as YYYY-MM-DD. Overrides days back.
## `dateTo` (type: `string`):
Optional. Last publication date to include, as YYYY-MM-DD. Default is today.
## `keywords` (type: `array`):
Keep only acts whose title, number, summary, subjects or issuer contain at least one keyword. English and Spanish keywords match whole words and ignore accents. Japanese keywords match anywhere. Titles are in the source language: English for the UK, EU and US, Spanish for Spain, Japanese for Japan. Leave empty to keep every act.
## `documentTypes` (type: `array`):
Optional. Keep only acts whose type contains one of these words, for example "Act", "Regulation", "Directive", "Executive Order", "Royal decree" or "Cabinet order". Leave empty to keep every type.
## `monitorMode` (type: `boolean`):
Return only acts that earlier monitor-mode runs with the same state key did not return. Schedule the Actor with this on to get a feed of new acts.
## `stateKey` (type: `string`):
Name of the memory that monitor mode uses. Use a different key for each separate watchlist.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Stop after saving this many acts, newest first. The default keeps test runs short and cheap. Set 0 for no limit.
