# Bulk Domain Checker - WHOIS, DNS, Email & SSL (`mambo_melon/bulk-domain-checker`) Actor

Check a list of domains in one run: registrar, creation and expiry dates (RDAP/WHOIS), days until expiry, nameservers, IPs, email provider, SPF and DMARC records, website status, HTTPS redirect and SSL certificate expiry. Also tells you which domains aren't registered.

## Pricing

from $3.00 / 1,000 domain checkeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Bulk Domain Checker - WHOIS, DNS, Email & SSL

Paste a list of domains and get one row per domain with everything you'd otherwise look up in five different tools: registrar, creation and expiry dates and how many days are left, nameservers and IP addresses, which email provider the domain uses, its SPF and DMARC records, whether the website answers and redirects to HTTPS, and when the SSL certificate runs out. Domains that aren't registered are marked as such.

I built it for audits: a client hands over a list of domains and I need to know which are about to expire, which certificates are close to the end, and which domains send email without SPF or DMARC. It's just as handy for domain portfolios, M\&A checks, or cleaning up a lead list before outreach.

### Example

Input:

```json
{ "domains": ["stripe.com", "bbc.co.uk", "https://www.allbirds.com/collections", "expired.badssl.com"] }
```

One row (real output, Sep 29 2026):

```json
{
  "domain": "stripe.com",
  "host": "stripe.com",
  "registered": true,
  "registrar": "SafeNames Ltd.",
  "createdAt": "1995-09-12T04:00:00Z",
  "expiresAt": "2027-09-11T04:00:00Z",
  "daysUntilExpiry": 346,
  "domainAgeYears": 31,
  "registryStatus": ["client delete prohibited", "client transfer prohibited", "server update prohibited", "..."],
  "nameservers": ["ns-1087.awsdns-07.org", "ns-1882.awsdns-43.co.uk", "ns-423.awsdns-52.com", "ns-705.awsdns-24.net"],
  "ipAddresses": ["198.202.176.161", "198.137.150.161"],
  "mx": ["10 aspmx.l.google.com.", "20 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com.", "..."],
  "emailProvider": "Google Workspace",
  "spf": "v=spf1 ip4:198.2.180.60/32 ip4:13.111.2.227/32 include:spf1.stripe.com ... ~all",
  "dmarc": "v=DMARC1; p=reject; pct=100; fo=1; rua=mailto:dmarc-reports@stripe.com; ...",
  "httpStatus": 200,
  "finalUrl": "https://stripe.com/",
  "redirectsToHttps": true,
  "sslIssuer": "DigiCert, Inc.",
  "sslExpiresAt": "2026-12-10T23:59:59+00:00",
  "sslDaysLeft": 72,
  "sslValid": true,
  "error": null
}
```

For `expired.badssl.com` the same run returned `"sslValid": false, "sslError": "certificate has expired"`. Ten domains took about 7 seconds.

Every row has the same fields; unknown values are `null`.

### Input

| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| `domains` | Domains or URLs. `www.` is ignored; for other subdomains WHOIS is looked up for the registered domain, while DNS, website and certificate are checked on the host you entered | required |
| `maxConcurrency` | Domains checked in parallel | 10 |
| `requestTimeoutSecs` | How long to wait for a website | 15 |

### Good to know

- WHOIS data comes from RDAP, the official successor to WHOIS, through the registries themselves. Generic TLDs such as .com and .net and many country TLDs such as .uk are covered. A few registries, for example .de, don't offer public RDAP; for those `whoisNote` says so and the DNS, email and SSL checks still run.
- `registered: false` means the registry answered that the domain doesn't exist, which usually means it can be registered.
- `emailProvider` is read from MX records (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, Proofpoint...). If it's a provider I don't recognize, you get the MX host.
- Domains that return no WHOIS, no DNS and no website at all come back with an `error` and aren't charged.

### Use cases

Expiry monitoring for a domain portfolio (schedule it weekly and filter `daysUntilExpiry < 30`), SSL renewal checks, email deliverability audits (missing SPF or DMARC), due diligence on a company's web assets, checking which names from a brainstorm are still free, and qualifying leads by email provider.

### FAQ

**Does it return the owner's name and email?**
No. Registries redact personal data under GDPR, and this Actor doesn't try to get around that. You get the registrar and dates.

**What does it cost?**
See the Pricing tab: you pay per domain checked.

### Notes

Uses public RDAP, DNS and HTTPS only. If a TLD looks wrong, open an issue with the domain.
