## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## African Company Registry Search: 18 Countries

Search **official company registries across 18 African countries** in one call and get clean,
structured records: registration number, legal name, status, entity type, incorporation date,
registered address, business activity, tax ID and officers, where the registry publishes them.

**Countries:** Nigeria (CAC), Ghana, Tanzania (BRELA), Senegal (RCCM), Uganda (URSB), Zambia (PACRA),
Malawi, Namibia, Angola, Madagascar, Seychelles, Mauritius, Burkina Faso, and the OHADA registries of
Togo, Niger, Gabon, Chad and the Republic of Congo.

### What can you use it for?

- **KYB and due diligence**: confirm an African company is registered, and whether it is active,
  before you sign, pay or onboard it.
- **Supplier and counterparty checks**: verify partners across several countries with one input list.
- **Pan-African groups**: search "ecobank" or "vodacom" across all 18 countries and see every
  registered entity of the group.
- **Lead enrichment**: add registration numbers, status and addresses to prospect lists.
- **AI agents**: call it from your agent through Apify's MCP server to verify entities on the fly.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `mode` | `search` (by name) or `lookup` (exact registration numbers) |
| `queries` | Company names, one search each |
| `country` | One country code, or `ANY` for all 18 |
| `maxResultsPerQuery` | 1 to 100 |
| `includeDetails` | Adds officers, address and activity for every match |
| `companies` | Lookup mode: `COUNTRY:REGISTRATION_NO`, e.g. `NG:208767` |

### Output example

```json
{
  "legal_name": "DANGOTE CEMENT PLC",
  "registration_no": "208767",
  "country": "NG",
  "country_name": "Nigeria",
  "status": "active",
  "entity_type": "Public Limited Company (PLC)",
  "incorporation_date": "1992-11-04",
  "registered_address": "1 ALFRED REWANE ROAD, IKOYI, LAGOS",
  "activity": "Manufacture of other non-metallic material products",
  "registry": "CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission)",
  "confidence_score": 0.9,
  "fylings_url": "https://fylings.com/company/ng/208767/dangote-cement-plc",
  "search_query": "dangote",
  "match_type": "prefix"
}
```

Fields differ by country, because each registry publishes different data. Some registries publish
names and numbers only; others add status, dates, addresses and officers. Every record says which
registry it came from and how confident the match is (`match_type`, `match_score`, `confidence_score`).

### Pricing

Pay per company returned. Searches with no match cost nothing beyond the run start, and are listed
in the `FAILURES` record of the run's key-value store.
