## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Local SEO Audit Tool – Bulk Site & Schema Checker

Paste a list of small-business websites and get a **local SEO health check for each one**: a 0-100 score, the technical facts, and a short list of **plain-language problems** you can send straight to a client or prospect.

Built for SEO agencies, web designers, lead-gen freelancers and local marketers who need to qualify or report on hundreds of sites quickly, without running a full crawler.

### Example output (real run, 6 local business sites)

| Website | Local SEO score | LocalBusiness schema | Top issue found |
|---|---|---|---|
| easyheatandair.com | 100 | yes | none |
| jimsheat.com | 94 | yes | Title is 182 characters, will be cut off in Google |
| easedental.sg | 89 | yes | Title "Ease Dental" is very short; add service + town |
| kdroofing.com | 87 | no | Meta description is 221 characters (aim 70-160) |
| boisefamilyplumbing.com | 77 | no | No LocalBusiness structured data (schema markup) |
| denticare.com.sg | 74 | no | No meta description, Google picks random page text |

Use it as a **bulk SEO audit**, **LocalBusiness schema checker**, **meta tag checker** and **NAP consistency checker** in one run.

### Use with Google Maps Scraper

1. Run [Google Maps Scraper](https://apify.com/compass/crawler-google-places) for a niche + city (e.g. "plumber Beaverton").
2. Export the `website` column and paste it into `urls` here, or call this Actor via the API / an Apify integration after the scraper finishes.
3. Want leads ranked instead of raw audits? Use the sister Actor below, which reads the Google Maps dataset directly.

### Related Actor: Local Leads SEO Gap Scorer

[Local Leads SEO Gap Scorer](https://apify.com/manta-media/leads-seo-gap-scorer) takes Google Maps scraper output, runs this same audit on every business, compares reviews with the area median, finds a contact email and returns a hot / warm / cold prospect list with pitch points ($0.008 per lead).

### What it checks (per URL)

| Area | What you get |
|---|---|
| Availability | Final URL after redirects, HTTP status, response time, page size |
| Security | SSL certificate valid?, expiry date, days left, does `http://` redirect to `https://` |
| On-page | `<title>` + length, meta description + length, all H1 headings |
| Local schema | Is LocalBusiness / Organization JSON-LD present (incl. subtypes like Dentist, Plumber, Restaurant…) + extracted **name, address, phone** |
| NAP | Phone numbers found on the page (international — US, UK, AU, CA, SG and more, normalised to E.164), a street address on the page, and whether the on-page phone matches the schema phone |
| Contact | Public email addresses on the page |
| Mobile & indexing | Viewport tag, canonical URL, robots meta (flags `noindex`) |
| Speed (optional, needs free API key) | Google PageSpeed Insights **mobile performance score** via Google's free API |
| Summary | `localSeoScore` (0-100) and `issues` — plain-English fixes, e.g. *"No LocalBusiness structured data (schema markup) - this helps Google show your business in local results."* |

### Polite by design

- Fetches **only the page you give it** (plus `robots.txt` and one `http://` redirect check). No crawling.
- **Respects robots.txt** — disallowed pages are skipped and reported.
- Conservative timeouts (10 s connect / 20 s read), max 3 MB HTML per page, identifiable User-Agent.
- Low default concurrency (3); runs comfortably on 256 MB of memory.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| `urls` | array | — | Required. Homepages or any page. `https://` is added if missing. |
| `includeSpeed` | boolean | `false` | Off by default. Adds the PageSpeed mobile score (~10-40 s extra per URL). **Requires a free Google PageSpeed Insights API key** — without one Google returns HTTP 429. |
| `pagespeedApiKey` | string | — | Free Google API key. Strongly recommended with `includeSpeed`; keyless calls are quickly rate-limited (HTTP 429). |
| `maxConcurrency` | integer | `3` | 1-10. |

```json
{
  "urls": [{ "url": "https://www.easyheatandair.com/" }, { "url": "kdroofing.com" }],
  "includeSpeed": true,
  "pagespeedApiKey": "AIza...",
  "maxConcurrency": 3
}
```

### Output example

One dataset item per URL (views: **Overview**, **Technical SEO**, **NAP & schema**; export to CSV/Excel/JSON):

```json
{
  "inputUrl": "https://jimsheat.com/",
  "finalUrl": "https://jimsheat.com/",
  "httpStatus": 200,
  "sslValid": true,
  "sslExpiry": "2026-11-18",
  "sslDaysLeft": 38,
  "httpRedirectsToHttps": true,
  "title": "Jim's Heating and Cooling | ...",
  "titleLength": 168,
  "metaDescription": "...",
  "metaDescriptionLength": 146,
  "h1": ["..."],
  "schema": {
    "present": true, "localBusiness": true, "type": "LocalBusiness",
    "name": "Jim's Heating and Cooling",
    "address": "9237 W. State St., Garden City, ID, 83714, US",
    "phone": "(208) 376-1717"
  },
  "phones": ["+12083912320"],
  "addressOnPage": "9237 W. State St",
  "napConsistent": false,
  "emails": [],
  "hasViewport": true,
  "canonical": "https://jimsheat.com/",
  "robotsMeta": "max-image-preview:large",
  "responseTimeMs": 1096,
  "pagespeedMobileScore": 54,
  "localSeoScore": 88,
  "issues": [
    "The title is 168 characters long and will be cut off in Google (aim for under 60).",
    "Google PageSpeed mobile score is 54/100 - there is room to make it faster."
  ],
  "auditedAt": "2026-10-11T10:50:00+00:00"
}
```

`null` means "could not be determined" (e.g. `httpRedirectsToHttps` when port 80 is unreachable).

### How the score works

Weighted checks summing to 100: SSL 8, http→https 4, title 10, meta description 8, single H1 7, LocalBusiness schema 15, phone on page 12, address on page 8, email 3, viewport 8, canonical 4, indexable 8, response time 5. When PageSpeed is enabled it contributes 10% of the final score. HTTP errors cap the score at 20.

### Pricing

**Pay per event: ~$4 per 1,000 URLs audited** (`url-audited` event, $0.004 each). Platform usage is included. PageSpeed calls use your own free Google key.

### FAQ

- **Does it crawl the whole site?** No — one page per URL, by design. Add contact/location pages as extra URLs if needed.
- **JavaScript-rendered sites?** The raw HTML is analysed (as Googlebot's first pass sees it). Content injected only by JS may be missed.
- **Which countries' phone numbers?** Any; the default region is inferred from the domain TLD (`.sg` → SG, `.co.uk` → GB, `.com` → US, …). Numbers written with a `+country` prefix are detected everywhere.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Pages to audit (usually business homepages). One dataset item per URL. Only the given page is fetched (plus robots.txt and an http:// redirect check).

## `includeSpeed` (type: `boolean`):

Calls Google's free PageSpeed Insights API (adds ~10-40 s per URL). Without an API key Google rate-limits heavily.

## `pagespeedApiKey` (type: `string`):

Free key from Google Cloud Console (PageSpeed Insights API). Recommended when includeSpeed is on.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many sites to audit in parallel (1-10). Each site still gets only a few polite requests.

## Actor input object example

```json
  "urls": [
    {
      "url": "https://www.example-plumber.com"
