## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Chrome Web Store Scraper - Extensions, Ratings & Permissions

Get **Chrome Web Store** extension data in one clean table: **users, rating, rating count, version, last update date, size, languages, developer, support and privacy-policy URLs**, plus every extension's **permissions and host permissions with a simple risk score**. Scrape a **category**, a **search** or a list of **extension URLs/IDs**, discover more extensions through **related extensions**, and **track new versions** of any extension.

No login, no API key, no browser. Polite rate, honest User-Agent.

### What you get

- **Listing data**: name, URL, short and long description, category, users, rating, rating count, icon and screenshots.
- **Release data**: version, last update date, size, supported languages, minimum Chrome version, Manifest V2/V3.
- **Developer**: developer/publisher name, support URL, privacy-policy URL.
- **Security**: permissions, host permissions, optional permissions, content-script match patterns, the risky ones (all sites, tabs, cookies, history, webRequest, debugger, proxy...) and a 0-10 **risk score**.
- **Discovery**: related extension IDs, and optional crawling of related extensions to map a whole niche.
- **Only-new mode**: get each extension once, or **get it again whenever it publishes a new version**.

### Use cases

- **Market research**: the biggest and fastest-growing extensions in any niche (SEO, AI, coupons, LinkedIn, productivity), with users and ratings.
- **Competitor tracking**: get notified when a competitor ships a new version.
- **Security and IT teams**: audit which extensions request access to all websites, cookies or browsing history.
- **Lead generation (B2B)**: companies that build extensions in your niche, with their support and website links.
- **Product ideas**: find niches with many users but low ratings.

### Input examples

**Top extensions in a category:**

```json
{ "mode": "category", "categories": ["productivity/tools"] }
```

**All categories, only extensions with 10k+ users:**

```json
{ "mode": "category", "categories": ["all"], "minUsers": 10000, "maxItems": 2000 }
```

**Search and map the niche through related extensions:**

```json
{ "mode": "search", "searchQueries": ["seo", "chatgpt"], "relatedLimit": 300, "maxItems": 500 }
```

**Daily alert when competitors publish an update:**

```json
{ "mode": "extensions", "extensions": ["ddkjiahejlhfcafbddmgiahcphecmpfh"], "onlyNew": true, "onlyNewTracks": "new_versions" }
```

}
```
### Pricing
**$1.00 per 1,000 extensions.**
### Notes
- A category page lists about 32 extensions per sort order. Use `relatedLimit` or search to go further.
- The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts for large extensions (for example 22,000,000).
- Developer e-mail addresses are intentionally not collected.
- `RUN_SUMMARY` in the key-value store shows counts, IDs not found and the last error.
# Actor input Schema
## `mode` (type: `string`):
Extensions from a category page, from a search, or specific extensions by URL or ID.
## `categories` (type: `array`):
Category paths, e.g. productivity/tools, lifestyle/shopping, productivity/developer. 'all' = all 18 categories. Full list: productivity/communication, productivity/developer, productivity/education, productivity/tools, productivity/workflow, lifestyle/art, lifestyle/entertainment, lifestyle/games, lifestyle/household, lifestyle/fun, lifestyle/news, lifestyle/shopping, lifestyle/social, lifestyle/travel, lifestyle/well_being, make_chrome_yours/accessibility, make_chrome_yours/functionality, make_chrome_yours/privacy.
## `sortBy` (type: `string`):
Category page order. Run both to get more extensions per category.
## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):
Keywords for search mode, e.g. seo, chatgpt, coupon, linkedin.
## `extensions` (type: `array`):
Chrome Web Store URLs or 32-letter extension IDs, for the 'Specific extensions' mode.
## `relatedLimit` (type: `integer`):
Follow the 'related extensions' of every result to discover up to N more extensions in the same niche. 0 = off. Use it to go beyond the ~32 extensions a category page shows.
## `minUsers` (type: `integer`):
Skip extensions with fewer users. 0 = no limit.
## `maxUsers` (type: `integer`):
Skip extensions with more users (find small, growing extensions). 0 = no limit.
## `minRating` (type: `number`):
Skip extensions rated below this (0-5). 0 = no limit.
## `updatedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):
Only extensions updated in the last N days. 0 = no limit.
## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):
Add the long description text.
## `includeManifest` (type: `boolean`):
Add the complete manifest (background, commands, web-accessible resources...). Permissions are always included.
## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):
Return only extensions (or versions) not returned by earlier runs with the same Monitor ID.
## `onlyNewTracks` (type: `string`):
New extensions = each extension once. New versions = an extension again whenever it publishes an update (track competitors or security-relevant changes).
## `monitorId` (type: `string`):
Name for the only-new memory, so several monitors can run independently.
## `requestDelaySeconds` (type: `number`):
Polite pause between page requests.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many extensions.
