## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## YouTube Video Metadata Bulk Lookup - Views, Likes, Tags

Paste a list of **YouTube video links or IDs** and get clean metadata for every video: **title, views, likes, exact publish date, duration, tags, category, channel, description and thumbnail**.

Made for **enriching spreadsheets, CRMs and AI pipelines**: one row per video, in the same order as your input, with no login, **no YouTube API key and no quota**.

### Why this actor

- **Any link format.** `watch?v=`, `youtu.be/`, Shorts, embed and live links, or plain 11-character IDs. Duplicates are looked up and charged once.
- **Exact data.** Publish date with time, view and like counts, duration in seconds and `h:mm:ss`, tags and category come from YouTube's own web endpoints.
- **Reliable.** The same proven technique as our [YouTube Channel Monitor](https://apify.com/martin10291/youtube-channel-monitor), with automatic retries and Apify Proxy fallback when YouTube limits requests.
- **Pay only for real videos.** Private, deleted or invalid inputs are skipped and not charged (or returned with an error status if you want them).
- **$0.40 per 1000 videos**, no start fee.

### Use cases

- Add views, likes and dates to a sheet of video links (influencer lists, campaign reports, competitor tracking)
- Check which videos in a list are still available
- Build datasets for AI and research: titles, tags, descriptions and stats
- Track how a list of videos performs: schedule the actor daily and compare view counts

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `videos` | array | Video URLs or IDs, one per line. |
| `maxItems` | integer | Stop after this many videos. Default `1000`. |
| `includeDescription` | boolean | Include the full description. Default `true`. |
| `deduplicate` | boolean | Look up each video once. Default `true`. |
| `includeFailedRows` | boolean | Add rows for unavailable videos (charged). Default `false`. |

```json
{
  "videos": [
    "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ",
    "https://youtu.be/jNQXAC9IVRw",
    "9bZkp7q19f0"
  ]
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "input": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ",
  "videoId": "dQw4w9WgXcQ",
  "url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ",
  "status": "ok",
  "channelName": "Rick Astley",
  "channelId": "UCuAXFkgsw1L7xaCfnd5JJOw",
  "publishedAt": "2009-10-24T23:57:33Z",
  "durationSeconds": 213,
  "duration": "3:33",
  "viewCount": 1700000000,
  "likeCount": 18000000,
  "category": "Music",
  "tags": ["rick astley", "never gonna give you up"],
  "thumbnailUrl": "https://i.ytimg.com/vi/dQw4w9WgXcQ/maxresdefault.jpg"
}
```

Download as **Excel, CSV, JSON or Google Sheets**, or connect with Make, Zapier, n8n or the Apify API. A run summary (found, unavailable, invalid) is saved as `RUN_SUMMARY`.

### Pricing

**$0.40 per 1000 videos.** Unavailable and invalid inputs are free unless you turn on `includeFailedRows`. Use `maxItems` to cap a run.

### FAQ

**Do I need a YouTube API key?** No. There is no daily quota either.

**How many videos per run?** Thousands. Videos are looked up in parallel.

**Why is a like count missing?** Some channels hide likes; then `likeCount` is empty.

### Legal

The actor reads only public video data that YouTube shows to any visitor. Use it in line with YouTube's terms and the laws of your country.

# Actor input Schema

## `videos` (type: `array`):

Video URLs (watch, youtu.be, Shorts, embed, live) or 11-character video IDs. One per line. Any number.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many videos (caps the cost of a run).

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Turn off for smaller rows when you only need titles, stats and dates.

## `deduplicate` (type: `boolean`):

The same video listed twice is looked up and charged once.

## `includeFailedRows` (type: `boolean`):

Add a row with an error status for private, deleted or invalid inputs (these rows are charged like results). Off: only real videos are returned.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. By default the actor connects directly and switches to Apify Proxy automatically if YouTube limits requests.
